Exchange 2003 Organization spanning multiple Windows 2003 forest.
Hi,
We planning to build an Exchange Organization.
We already deployed Windows 2003 forests (2).
But we want to have only one Exchange 2003 Organization.
Can some one help, please?
It would be great if we can get some white papers on step-by-step
procedure to build this.
TIA,
Joel. Tag: Exchange 2003 with project 2002 server Tag: 110099

Need ideas - remote calendar access
We have Exchange 5.5 running on Windows NT 4.0 . I have OWA set up to
access Exchange 5.5.
A set of users wants to be able to
1.) view a calendar in which they can enter dates, enter notes, etc.
2.) View a month of dates
3.) Allow users to view the calendar but restrict who can change data on the
calendar.
4.) Print the calendar.
5.) email the calendar to someone.
As far as I can tell the OWA I have can do 1 and 2.
What would I need to do to OWA to enable it to do all 5 things?
What is a better application or solution to satisfy the needs listed above? Tag: Exchange 2003 with project 2002 server Tag: 110093
Setup Exchange 5.5 in Active Directory
I am wondering whether anyone has been able to try the
following:
I need to migrate from Exchange 5.5 to 2000. Because user
accounts are being migrated from a Novell 4.11 server,
using the Active Directory Connector will result in
duplicate accounts, which I don't want. I have thought
about using the Exchange 2000 Migration Wizard to export
mailboxes to PST files, then manually importing each
mailbox individually into Exchange 2000 mailboxes;
however, doing such would be tedious. What I was
wondering whether I could install Exchange 5.5 on a
Windows 2000 member server in an Active Directory domain,
restore the information store from a backup tape, change
the mailbox accounts to Active Directory user accounts
prior to migrating from this environment to Windows 2000.
I want to try to avoid having to modify pre-existing
accounts, which are being migrated from the Novell primary
file and print server.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Tag: Exchange 2003 with project 2002 server Tag: 110092
Global Address List for 5.5
You know, I'm sure there is an easy solution to this problem, but I forgot
where to find it. On my Exchange 5.5 server, I want to modify the company
address so when my clients email people with the Vcard attached to their
signature, they have the right address.
Can I do this globally or do I have to modify each person's address?

our mail for about 500 users. I've installed a new 2003

send mail to the 5.5 recipients and between the test 2003

from the 5.5 users or from the internet. I've configured

IFS vs. File Server
I am researching a new Exchange 2003 setup and am
confused on pros-cons of using Installable File System
vs. a normal File Server Share.
We have a small <10 user company with two offices. We
have decided to just run everybody under Terminal
Services and have installed a Win 2003 Enterprise Server
setup as an application server. We have also installed a
Small Business 2003 Server with Exhange, domain
controller, active directory, and file server.
We have already noticed a huge increase in speed using
terminal services because my database intensive programs
are as of yet not going over the network and just
installed on the local application server hard drive.
I am now wondering if I should install the other
application's documents such as word, excel, etc. on the
local application server's drive, the SBS 2003 file
server, or the Exchange 2003 IFS.
As I have older people working in our office, simplicity
is a must. I like the thought of common access through
Outlook and the searchability of the documents IFS
provides.
Thoughts and prognostications would be appreciated..

Setup gateway in front of Exchange 5.5?
Currently we have a Cisco PIX doing the static public-to-private NAT to our
Exchange 5.5 server, and it's all good.
But for security reasons we are looking at putting a anti-virus gateway
appliance/server between the two.
I really do not want to change the IP address of my Exchange server, so I
thought I'd just make a change on my Cisco PIX to change the static NAT rule
to point to the gateway, and the gateway point to the Exchange server.
But if I do this what do I need to change on the Exchange server?

Migrating from SBS 4.5 to Server 2003
Hi.
I am about to install a new server at the office. We
currently have SBS 4.5 (NT 4.0 and exchange 5.5). We only
have one server and it's a PDC.
The new server will run Windows server 2003 (standard ed)
and Exchange server 2003.
My problem is that the existing server does not accept the
new server as a bdc. Therefore I cannot install Acive
Directory, and therefore I cannot install exchange.
I could disconnect the new server from the LAN, set it up
as a domain controller, install AD and Exchange. But then,
how do I get the mailboxes and all the mails from the old
server to the new one, before I retire the old one?
I can manually create new accounts if necessary, because we
are not too many users.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Incoming Email Problems
We have a domain that is hosted by an external company
(www.companyname.com.au). When we setup our Domain
Internally the main server was aptly named SERVER and the
domain name internally companyname.local
I thought everything was ok until i tried to send an email
to another member of the staff. We use the Microsoft POP3
Connector which collects all our email from a Email
Hosting Program (ie all emails to companyname.com.au come
into the program and it sends them to who they need to go
to.)
Whenever i try to send an email to another internal staff
it returns the error that the email account does not exist
within the organisation this message was sent to.
Obviously what is happening is the organisation must be
set to companyname.com.au and the email account isnt in
the exchange server which is correct. But I want to send
that email to the Email Hosting Program.

3. Create a seperate OU to hold disabled user account in ADS
4. Configure ADC and synchronize Exchange 5.5 and ADS dirctory
5. Create OU in ADS for new exchange 2003 server
6. Proceed for exchange 2003 Installation on first DC.(Use Ex deploy tool
7. Check Co-existence between Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2003
If someone can verfiy these steps. It would be gr8 if you can add missing steps and correct me
My main issue is Installing exchange 2003 on a DC.

Remove Exchange 5.5 server from Exchange 2003
I installed a Exchange 2003 server into the same site as
my 5.5 server. After the migration was complete, my 5.5
server crashed and is now unrecoverable. Now I can't
delete the original 5.5 server from the site. I was told
to use a MS KB article that explains how to remove the
server from the site but since my 5.5 server is now dead,
I can't. There's got to be a way to remove a 5.5 server
from a site. Any ideas on how? Tag: Exchange 2003 with project 2002 server Tag: 110005

DCPromo on existing Exchange 2003 Server
I installed Exchange 2K3 on a Win2K3 member server in my
domain. I later ran dcpromo to promote the Win2K3 server
to a replica DC in the domain. I've just come across a
technote that says "don't do that". Anyone know the
implications and how to fix them (if necessary).
Thanks,

Exchange 2003 "You cannot install this product on a computer..."
I am trying to install Exchange 2003 on a machine that is definitely Windows 2003 server. The machine is part of a Native 2003 domain. The domain controller and machine I am trying to install Exchange 2003 on are clean installs. I was trying to run forestprep and domainprep from the Exchange machine but every time I would get the error
-You cannot install this product on a computer running Windows Professiona
So then I ran forestprep and domain prep on the domain controller and both were successful. When I went back to install Exchange 2003 on my mail server, I got the same error message
Thank you for your time

Domain Requirements for Exchange 2003?
I am planning to migrate my Exchange 5.5 site to Exchange
2003, we are currently running a Win2K domain in mixed
mode, is it possible to install Exchange 2003 in a mixed
mode domain? If so, what are the implications?
