Hello All,
I am hoping somebody can shed some light on this problem.
Current situation is as follows...
Win 2k AD
Exchange 2000 Standard on 2K Standard Server (Recieves Mail Feed)
Exchange 2003 Enterprise on 2K3 Standard Server
I have completed the installation of the 2K3 server into the exchange
organisation and I can migrate mailboxes happily, I can also send internal
mail from one mailbox to another homed on the other server without incident
and also vice versa and i can send external mail from the new 2k3 homed
mailboxes. What will not work is when an external SMTP message is recieved
by the 2000 server that is bound for a mailbox on the 2k3 server. the
message does not return an NDR it just gets resubmitted to our smarthost and
ends up in a loop. According to articles I have found it should work out
the box. I cannot see what I need to do to enable the SMTP traffic to be
redirected/Routed to the mailboxes on the new 2k3 server.
I thought I could set up the mail feed to go to the 2k3 server as ultimately
that is what ill be trying to achieve but the 2k3 server will not route to
the mailboxes on the 2000 server. Mail gets stuck in a q named
"servername.domain.com" (SMTP, Default SMTP virtual server) so it seems that
the server know where it needs to go just that it cannot get it there.
Thanks In advance.
Ross
