A collegue of mine was asked to tackle a migration from NT to 2000 AD. He
setup exchange 2000 without first doing any user migration. He only set up
exchange 2000. I'm having all sorts of replication problems with passwords
and I'm not sure how we are going to migrate users over to the new domain. He
is still in mixed mode too.

My question is a)is this going to be a problem with the user migration and
are we actually going to have to set up new permissions for them?
b)Is this the correct way to do this?

Sounds like he needs some help, I would suggest calling a Microsoft
Certified Partner in your area to assist. NT to AD migration is quite
complex depending on the size and complexity of his environment. This must
be completed correctly before any install of Exchange 2000.

Thanks for your response. I'm just trying to establish that his method was
wrong. As I was taught you need to first set up the accounts via migration
and go to native mode, once in native mode you with the accounts set up,
along with the sids, you can then install exchange. He has not done that.
In fact he's still in mixed mode. No accounts migrated only 2 domain
controllers and exchange and he's migrating the mail. My fear is if we do
migrate accounts there's going to be major problems with double accounts. Am
I correct? I"ve done this before and that's the only method I know.
