    - OWA Basic Client Setup Having succesfully setup SSL on the front end server and configure SSL etc. I came accross a document on ms.com that showed a reg key you can disable SSL for form based authentication for development purposes. Now i cna tfind it again and was hoping someone had a pointer to it.     - Domain Name change Our company has changed their domain name and would like to have access to receive email through the new domain as well as the old domain name in Exchange 2003 Standard Edition as well as having access to OWA through the new domain name. My question is, what configuration in Exchange 2003 needs to be modified to enable receiving emails through the old domain and the new domain as well as only to be able to access OWA through the new domain.     - Confirmation request don't arrive For calendar propouses we installed an Exchange, so , now the users use a unix server for email and Exchange for calendar, but we have the problem that when someone sends a meeting request, the other user receives it and when click accept, there is no any window of "Sending Response Now", so even the invited accepted the meeting, the originator doesn't get the confirmation.     - New domain name with new xch2003 from xch2000 A question: Currently we have the domain A.local with exchange 2000 (windows 2000 domain) I want to create the domain B.local with exchange 2003 and windows 2003 domain and migrate the old email from server A to server B. My question is - is this possible, while maintaining the integrity of the information store. I only have about 35 users so recreating the mailboxes and accounts for the new server isn't such a big deal but I want to make sure that I can move the email that is currently in the mail store to the new store without data loss and hopefully some confidence that I won't be losing my job come monday ;) .     - OWA 2003 front-end and 2000/2003 backend I presently have an exchange 2000 frontend server running on windows 2000in a administrative group. When I tried to deploy exchange 2003 frontend server I got an error saying that I will need to first upgrade the frontend server to exchange 2003. I will be upgrading that to OWA 2003. However, some of the exchange servers in my organization are 2000 and some are 2003. Once upgraded to OWA 2003, will both the accounts sitting on exchange 2000 and 2003 be available through OWA? I will also be deploying another front-end server, this time windows 2003/exchange 2003 and this will be used to support rpc-over-https on a clustered exchange 2003 back-end. I know that rpc-https will only be available to users having there exchange mailbox on the exchange 2003 system. However if an exchange 2000 user hits this box using owa, will they be redirected to the exchange 2000 server where their mailbox sit so they can retrieve mail via OWA on the second front-end server?     - exchange back end, owa front end how to I would like to reset my Exchange 2003 connectivity. I have two nics on both exchange and owa boxes. The first one I'd like to keep in the regular subnet (e.g. 192.168.x.x), the second nic I would like to have a private data patch between the two boxes (10.x.x.x) but I'm unsure how to set this up in both boxes.     - Exchange and MX configurations I am setting up Exchange 2003 (standard) on Windows 2003 (standard) behind a pix firewall. We have a toatal of 12 users that are using a combination of webmail and pop mail with 2 different ISPs. Two of those users have laptops and 3 users are at a remote location. Everyone retrieves email from one ISP and send through two depending on thier physical location. Are these the steps I need to take? 1. Open ports 25, 80, and 443 (inbound) and point them to the Exchange Server. 2. Move my MX record late Friday to point to my external ip address ( is this enough time to be ready to go by Monday?) 3. When mail begins to flow to Exchange, make one last run on the pop accounts for each workstation. 4. Export the inbox on each workstation to a .pst file, delete the profile. 5. Move users to Exchange - Tell mobile and remote users to use OWA 6. Import the .pst from each user into Exchange via Outlook. Once I take these steps, can I then begin to configure rpc over http?     - Moving Exchange 5.5 to a new server I need to move an Exchange 5.5 installation from an old server to another; the old server is NT 4.0, the new one can be either NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. The Exchange server is the only one in the organization, it has no connectors and it isn't member of a cluster; the domain is NT 4.0 (no Active Directory). What is the best way to move it to the new hardware? - Installing NT 4.0 on the new server, making a full backup of the old server (after stopping Exchange services) and restoring it on the new one. - Installing NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5 on the new server and moving the databases. - Installing Windows 2000 and Exchange 5.5 on the new server and moving the databases. I'd like to install Windows 2000 on the new server, since NT is no longer supported and also the hardware of the new server is quite recent (possible driver problems using NT 4.0), but I don't know the proper way of installing Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000 and then moving the contents of an existing installation; the same is true if the new server has a fresh Exchange installation on NT 4.0. Regarding the backup solution, I don't know if it could even work. Another issue: the new server needs to have the same name and IP address of the old one. Any suggestion about this?     - OWA and User account permission Hi, I tried to setup outlook web access on exchange 2003 server. it's working fine for administrator account. Anyway, When I tried to open OWA under regual domain user name, keep popup logon windows, asked for user ID and password, even if I type in a correctly ID and password, it's still keeping ask me for loging on. After I joined the user account to administrators group, it's working fine. How to solve this problem? Is any setting wrong on ther server? Your advice will appreciated.     - Redirecting Issue.. Greetings, I am running IIS 6 (with Exchange 2003) and want to accomplish the following: Default web site should take users to a redirected website (I know how to setup redirect feature) but directories under the default should not redirect users to another site. So for instance, if default web site is installed as http://serverA, I want users to be redirected to http://serverB when they type http://serverA in the browser but if they type, http://serverA/Exchange, they should stay on serverA and not be redirected to serverB. I can get default web site to redirect to ServerB but the problem is that why I try to get to the directories under the same server, I am redirected to ServerB as well. When I made the changes for redirection (on default web site), it did ask me if child nodes (for instance, exchange, public, oma etc) should inherit (highlight and click ok option) the new settings but I did not highlight on any directories and just clicked OK (also tried clicking on cancel which should not be the case). The problem is that when I even try to manually go into the virtual directories and change configuration â??no redirect â?? A directory on this computer..â?? and click ok on it, it does not retain the settings. Am I missing anything here, any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.     - New e3k server and NUL character errors Hi all, I've just installed a new e3k into our existing e2k server domain. The e3k will replace the e2k. I have been having problems getting the e3k to route to e2k mailboxes. Please contact your system administrator. <mail.xxxxx.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 Requested action not taken: NUL characters are not allowed.> The message content from e3k owa mail contains; On both servers I have disabled 8Bitmime type this seems to have been an intermittent problem for incoming mail for may months as well, so I'd guess that this is an issue with the e2k server? The e3k server can send mail out of the company but isn't accepting. The Routing groups > First Routing Group > Members, show both servers with e2k as master and e3k as member.     - Adding a new Exchange Server to existing Exchange 2003 environment Hi; We have an existing exchange 2003 server, and I want to add an additional Exchange 2003 server, so I used one of the DC's to make it an additional exchange 2003, the 1st mistake that I made during the installation that I clicked on New Exchange 2003 environment instead of existing, so after I was done I removed exchange 2003 and SP2 and removed all of the registry keys based on MS article. Then I reinstalled exchange 2003 and selected adding a new exchange 2003 to existing environment then I applied SP2. Then I setup a connector between the 2 exchange server in order to send & receive between the users on these 2 servers, am I correct here? Now I am able to send and receive e-mails. But for some reason the users that are located on the new exchange server get the following error when they click on (send & receive): Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server" reported error (0x8004010F): 'the operation failed an object could not be found' Any idea why?     - How to retrieve POP3 mail from external ISP. Hi, Can somebody help/teach me to configure my Exchange Server to retrieve POP3 mails from another ISP? I have a group of users that used to be retrieving their mails with Outlook Express from an external ISP. Since they become members of my Exchange server, I like them to pick up their mails from my Exchange server as the only source using their Outlook 2003 or OWA. I will appreciate any help ASAP.     - Install SP2 on a cluster While installing SP2 for Exchange 2003 on a 3 node cluster running 2 virtual exchange servers the upgrade option does not appear in the cluster admin.     - Exchange 2000 Information Store Corruption Hi, We had a hardware failure with our Exchange 2000 server. We managed to move the mailboxes over to another server using Move Mailbox wizard in ADUC. This all seemed to work fine, but we are now experiencing some problems trying to backup the new server using both Backup Exec and MS Backup. Is it possible that the data has become corrupted on the original server due to hardware and that corruption has been moved to the new server? Everyone seems to be using their outlook without problem, sending / receiveing mails, access to their mailboxes etc. We have about 30 mailboxes in total. Is there anyway I can pinpoint where the corruption exists, whether it is just one mailbox at fault, public folders, or whether it is the whole lot? What steps can I take to fix / recover the corruption?     - Firewall and MS Exchange Hi, Would like to get a confirmation on firewall settings and MS Exchange. MS Exchange is running always on Win 2K3 SP2. Using an appliance to protect the network, we have to allow external users to access MS Exchange with POP3 and IMAP protocols as well as Outlook Web Access.. How to confgure port forwarding (which ports) to allow access to MS Exchange using those ports. I ma currently configurring my firewall for that and have some problems with the authentication. IMAP and OWA can not authenticate. OWA is installed on a Default Web server that lives on port 8088 and not on a default http port 80. We have to use it to allow direct SharePoint access. The port 8088 is open and forwarded to the exchange server. I always had to enter http://server.mydomain.loc:8088/exchange to get OWA inside. That same apporach does not work from the outside even the port is forwarded.     - MS Exchange 2003 install/setup problems Hi, I installed MS Exchange server STD on top of a Windows 2003 STD SP2 server. The network is like this: firewall: Symantec 200R FW/VPN firewall outside interface: static IP firewall inside interface : private 192.1698.1.0/24 I have a domain mydomain.com that uses DNS hosting by directnic.com. All A, CNAME, MX records are OK. If I ping on A record I get the IP and the responce, CNAME returns proper FQDN name and the responce. If I use nslookup and set type=PTR and type in the IP of my outside interface, the repsonce is the DNS name of my modem from the ISP's DNS server (something.very.very.long.com) I used my internal DNS server first (on Win 2k3 SP2) without smart SMTP host. Almost all outgoing mail got rejected by the recepients. Then I used smart SMTP host (SMTP from my ISP), left the internal DNS on Win 2K3 SP2 and the problems suddenly dissapeared. I have to use internal DNS and the internal SMTP for my Exchange, it is a MUST. Any ideas what to do to send mail correctly ????? Found a few postings but none of them fixed the issue. I use masquerade domain to my domain, DNS lookup on the domain name in the SMTP protocol configuration returns a positive answer. I also use smart SMTP host. All other recepients received mail correctly, except the domain above: webminders.com. Since some of my clients are hosted on those servers it is a major inconvenience.     - can send but not receive email from exchange i have a 2003r2 server with exchange 2003. I can send fine to outside the domain but not receive email from outside the domain. the server has 2 nics, one for internal dhcp and one for external access. it then goes to a modem that has port forwarding on it. I've allowed all ports to go to the server on the external nic. yet i can not access the default web site or get email. The mx and a records are correct .Is there somewhere that i need to open ports to allow access to the server from outside? It is not the firewall because it tells me that some other thing is controling one of the files so the windows firewall is disabled. I know there is somewhere that i need to create exceptions or changes so that i can open the right ports, but its just not cllicking as yet. it is also a new server but needs to go to production asap.     - OWA Configuration My setup is Windows 2003 SP1 with Exchnage 2003 SP2. Exchnage works fine except for OWA. Clients are getting the "Loading.." message. I have tried all the steps in TechNet article 280823, but to no avail. Strangely on the Exchange server when I use OWA, placeolders are displayed in place of images, which suggests NTFS permissions, but they are consistent with the above article. I have tried everything under the sun, but am getting nowhere. Is there a definitive step by step guide to configuring OWA anywhere?     - POP3 Accounts and Exchange Hi all, I have 3 pop3 accounts (which I cannot administer), right now I'm using outlook to read/reply them, which is perfect for me, I can also choose from which account I want to reply.... But now, for backup purposes and movility (I'm using 2 computers and also other like cyber cafes...) I want to install exchange + OWA + POPCon in a server. I dont have a domain name and also I dont want to loose the posibility to choose from which account reply....How can I accomplish that? Is possible? What are your proposals?     - 2 IP ranges use the same Exchange server My Exchange 2003 server has 2 NIC's in with 10.4.100 and 10.224.132 IP address My DNS server has 2 NIC's in in with 10.4.100 and 10.224.132 IP address We have all our machines on a single domain but some (ADMIN) have a 10.224.132 address and some (CURRICULUM) have 10.4.100 address. On my ADMIN machines outlook email is not working (and never has as new setup) it can't find exchange server. When I 'PING EMAILSERVER' from a machine with a 10.224 address it replies that the email server is 10.4.100 and times out. That is why email isn't working I suppose?!     - Mailbox Storage limits in Exchange 2003 Here is the scenario: I want to impose a 1GB mailbox limit to ~35 users on a newly upgraded Windows 2003 SBS Server with Exchange 2003 SP2. So in Exchange System Manager, I go to Exchange > Servers > SBSERVER > Mailboxes (SBSERVER) and get the properties. On the Limits tab, I put in: -Issue Warning at (KB): 900,000 -Prohibit send at (KB): 1,048,576 -Prohibit send and receive (KB): 1,150,000 Here is the twist: There are 7 users that are already well over the storage limits I set in Exchange System Manager. To resolve this issue, I go to each individual users profile in Active Directory and in Exchange General Tab > Storage Limits..., I uncheck the "Use mailbox store defaults" box. Here is the problem: Even though the "Use mailbox store defaults" box is unchecked for each of the 7 offending users, it still denies them access to send and recieve emails. Am I missing a step?     - Clear Junk and Deleted folder for users Hi there, The size of our mailboxes is increasing very fast, there are a lot of items in Junk E-mail and Deleted folers.     - Exchange Migration questions Hello, I am currently running an Exchange 2000 server. It's also one of a couple domain controllers on a W2K3 domain. The server has been running flawlessly over the past 5 years. My boss has agreed to let me purchase a new dual processor server and Exchange 2003. Were looking to move our existing client database to something a bite more stable and functional and I would like to know; is Exchange/Outlook the answer? We have about 8'000 company's on our database at the moment, and about 30'000 contacts. At present the way they are displayed is like this: The top of the page shows the company information, the bottom shows contacts for that company. I have done a trial export of data - this comes out as 2 .csv files, one for company information one for contacts - and have imported that into my trial Exchange server. This results in a series of contact cards, not apparently linked. Let me try and explaine that a bit clearer with an example: In out current system: Company name: Jo Bloggs Inc, 1 Street Name, Town, County, TelNo Contact: Jo Bloggs, joe@bloggs.com, 09999 999999(tel) Contact Jane Bloggs, jane:bloggs.com 09999 999999(tel) 1999999999(mob) If I double click the contact Jane Bloggs, it populates the business fields from the company (such as main phone numbers, postal address etc...). If they change address, then I only need to change the company address once and the contacts pick up that change. In Outlook: There are 3 contacts, one with the company information only, and one each with the contacts. Each one has a full set of data but if I change the address in the 'main' company card, the contacts do not reflect this. Obviously for 2 contacts that's OK as I can manually update the details, but for companies with 10 or 20 contacts that could become troublesome. I can't imagine I am the only person with this need so I assume there must be a way around it. I would be grateful of a pointer in the right direction as so far I am at a bit of a loss.     - Unable to delete Exchange 5.5 server Hi, Two sites, one has just a 5.5 server, the other has our new Exchange 2003 environment and another 5.5 server (the original one). I am keeping (for the short term) the 5.5 server in the same site as exchange 2003, but want to remove the other 5.5 server in the remote site. I have run through the various kb's, but am still unable to delete the exch 5.5 server in the remote site from system manager (homed to any of the servers), the option to delete is greyed out.     - Help with migrated distro groups Hey folks any input appreciated here... 2 Exch2K3 servers in 1 administrative group. Mailboxes and distribution lists for users in office two were recently migrated from 1 server to the other. Since then users on server1 can no longer send to distribution groups on server2 which contain users whose mailboxes reside on server2. When using Outlook 2000 (XP or 2003 as well) clicking the TO button and browsing the global address list I see the distribution groups, but when looking at the properties of the group none of the migrated groups have any members displayed in the members box on the right - whereas all of the other groups (that work) do have visible users. Users on server2 also use a different primary SMTP domain, but all users have the ability to send and recieve mail for both domains. When I use Exchange-Server-Manager to look at the preview of the default global address list I not only see the distribution groups, but when I look at the properties of the group I see the members correctly. Sending mails to these groups - from users on server1 doesn't work but does for users on server2. If you think you need more info please let me know - I'll be able to provide more specific details. Our mail server its hosted out side, in our ISP, and we are using POP3 accounts to connect to it and bring the E-mail back due to that, all the users need to connect to the Internet in Order to download the E-mails from out side. and for that, we become bigger and we increased to 500 users. so can you imagine now, how we are facing ? its really a big Problem, if i want to send an E-mail to my collegue, i have to let my PC Connect to internet through ISA server, in order to be able to send an E-mail to my frined, who is set beside me, and also he should have the same situation able to connected to internet, in order to access his E-mail. so we have a delay in Our Internet. so i think on deploy an internal mail server, so all the user will connect directly to it, and without need to have internet at all. and we keep the internet for browsing. but, we do not want to use exchange server . we decide to use POP3 Server which has been added in Win2003. we connect to it, and we bocome able completely to send to each other internally wihtout being able to connect to internet, and very fast. but we are unable to receive e-mails from outside. so if some one call from company outside, and inform us, he send an E-mail to some one, so he needs only to login to the mail2web and access it from out side. but internally he cant at all, because there is no any way to take the E-mails from outside and put inside the users mailbox, unless we have internal mail server like excchange. so i tried to use any POP3 downloader,like GFI or somehting, but i found that it cant work with the POP3 server, its only designed to work with the exchange server , to let the user connect or see there POP3 Accounts through the exchange server him self. so is there any way or product, should i use it, in order to be able to receive the E-mails from outside, by using POP3 Server, because, i do not want to use exchange server .     - Migrate Exch 2003 to new hardware. I'm currently running Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 (no SP). While it's running ok, there are a couple of things about the way the OS is running that I'm not entirely happy with. I am about to move the exchange server onto new hardware and was wondering if, instead of doing a fresh install with a new server name then using the move mailbox wizard to move everyone over, would it be possible to take an offline backup of the information stores and log files, perform a /disasterrecovery installation on the new server, then just remount the information stores I had backed up? I do not want them to coexist. I wish them to run standalone, each with there own mx records etc. They will share active directory obviously.     - Exchange server failure after upgrade/migration Last week we migrated our exchange users from Exchange 2000 Enterprise to a new Exchange 2003 Enterprise installation on a new server. Approximately 5 days after installation, the storage array started experiencing problems. We had been unable to get a good backup on the data store (around 40 gig in size). Users started experiencing some strange problems, so we had planned to migrate the mailboxes back to the other server while we resolved the issues. The MSA failed dumping ALL the data stores. The only backup we have is from pre migration when the mailboxes were homed on the old exchange server. Active Directory believes the mailboxes are currently on the new (and now defunct) machine. Is there any way we can use this older backup to recover the items we can? This is such a weird combination of circumstances, any help we can get will be appreciated. regarding to your post, please add more information of your current exchange
setup:

Q1- how many exchange servers your have ? do you have single Exchange Server
as Back-End which is also acting as OWA ?

Q2- does your exchange server has a public IP Address connected directly to
the internet without any firewall protection ? if this is the case, then your
exchange server is exposed to the enternet , and all the intruders from
outside is using your SMTP protocol on your exchange server to send spam
emails.

Q3- explain more about your current network in terms of security and firewall.

it seems that your public IP Address is being recognized as Spam creator IP
which sends spam emails . your Public IP was blocked internationally, please
check this with your ISP to resolve this issue.
