    - Front End talks to other Back Ends servers but not at our site I was having issues of the Front End talking to the Back End server. I went ahead and did a complete rebuild of that server, new name and new IP. I am still unable to pull up a mailbox in our office. But if I pull up a mailbox that is over in our remote office, it works. I get HTTP error 400 when http:\\fe\exchange. The IIS logs or event viewer doesnt report anything. Both servers are in the same network. Both have Exchange SP2. I applied some recent security updates, nothing. I ran Exchange BPAT that is reporting minor issues, nothing that would be related to this. Any Ideas? Tag: Exchange 2007 Install Tag: 157736

    - Exchange 2003 install issue... Hi, we have a client whom has an Exhange 2000 single server install, which once upon a time was upgraded from 5.5. we have slotted in a new server for them which is Windows 2003 and added it to the domain and did the forestprep and domain prep all succesfully. when we try and install it onto this new server it is asking for the '5.5 installation sevice account password' both the username and domain is blank, i dont think anytone knows what the password is as it was years agi before we took over! why is it asking for it if it is now a exchange server 2000 box running in native mode? any help would be gratefull as we are stuck at the moment!     - Exchange 2003, member server mailboxes not receiving external emai Hi, I'm migrating from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. I have done the following: 1) Confirgured the routing group to include the additional exchange server. 2) Add the replicas for all public folders including the system folders 3) ensured that the directory access on both servers are using the same domain controllers etc. 4) That the default SMTP protocols are configured the same, i.e. both have the external ISP's dns and neither have a smart host specified. 5) I have a routing group configured that lists both servers as bridgeheads. My problem is that can NOT receive external emails onto the new Member server. I can send externally, send and receive internal emails. My ONLY problem is the external emails..     - Exchange 2007 migration - Hub Transport question (replacing Exchange 2003 Bridgehead) I have an Exchange 2003 FE server, and an Exchange 2003 BE server. The FE server is currently serving as a Bridgehead and used for OWA. I just added an Exchange 2007 mailbox server and a second Exchange 2007 server for the hub transport and client access roles. Is there anything specific that I need to configure on the Exchange 2007 hub transport server before I start pointing my inbound smtp traffic to it (in replace of my existing Exchange 2003 bridgehead server)?     - Sharing GAL after AD Forest trust relationship We have two seperate AD (both 2003) forests each with its own Exchange organization. We are planning setting a trust relationshib between both AD forestes. When we do this is it possible for us to move both Exchange 2003 servers to a single organizaton? You can determine whether this hotfix is installed by running the Microsoft Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer Tool, which checks for the hotfix being installed, and then reviewing the output log. If you do not run the Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer, you must manually verify that Hotfix 898060 is installed on your system. If this hotfix is not on your system, you must install it now. This hotfix is applicable only to Windows Server 2003 customers who applied security update MS05019 or Windows Server 2003 SP1.     - IMF I have the connection filter enabled with spamcop, spamhaus and SORBS, within the exchange server log I see entries such as this, which are spam. client IP client-host 192.168.1.1 happypuppy.com now the client IP is our firewall. Is the IMF looking at the client IP or the client host when filtering cause it does not appear to be filtering, I also have reverse lookup enabled. any help would be great as spam is running rampant atm.     - exchange 2007 antispam Hello, I installed exchange 2007 ( no edge server) also installed anti spam features When i configure content filtering in the anti-spam module, i only see the possibility to delete, reject or quarantaine messages. Is it also possible ( like in exchange 2003) to set a spam level for the users junk mail folder.     - Exchange server 2007 - external domain is different from internal domain My company has a website - e.g. www.myweb.com The employees have the email address related to this, e.g. john@myweb.com, emma@myweb.com, etc. The problem is that the internal domain name for my company is different, e.g. the internal domain name is COMPANY_DOMAIN. Is it possible to setup exchange server 2007 so that, when as email goes to john@myweb.com, it is reachs john@COMPANY_DOMAIN.COM ??? I have attempted the resolution it suggests but to no avail. EX1 can ping EX2003 by IP address, NetBIOS name and FQDN EX2003 can ping EX1 by IP address, NetBIOS name and FQDN Both servers can ping our DCs by IP address, NetBIOS name and FQDN Our DNS server has both servers registered correctly All servers have an up-to-date HOSTS file All servers have an up-to-date LMHOSTS file All servers are pointing to the same WINS server, which has correctly registered them EX2003 is logged on using the Exchange service account and during the install I have specified this account wherever possible The errors above talk about ensuring both Directory Services are using the same logon but the service is never installed on EX2003 as it never gets that far. If somebody can help or has any suggestions it would be much appreciated as I have tried everything and this is driving me mad!     - Distribution group not working after mailbox move Hello, I built another Exchange 2000 server and moved a few mailboxes to it and I am testing to make sure everything is OK. I noticed that the users that I have moved to the new server do not recieve e-mails when sent to a distribution group that they belong to. However if you expand the group before the email is sent then they get it. Everything else seems to be working fine. It is completely different than Exchange 2003. I have a few questions..... 1) Is Exchange 2007 no longer integrated into Active Directory? In Exchange 2003 there were several "Exchange" related tabs on a user's profile in Active Directory Users and Computers. Not there anymore. 2) In Exchange 2003, when I added a new user the wizard would take me to a screen to add the user's mailbox. Again, not in Exchange 2007.     - NDR Exchange 5.5 and EK3 When sending outside mail to a exchange mailbox I receive a NDR report back from the exchange server. Now I see the mail message in the imcdata/in folder(E5.5) but the message does not make it to the Ek3 server and does not show up in the mailbox resources. I can send email internally to the mailbox but I can not send outside email to the internal mailbox. All other emails are delivered. I am upgrading 5.5 to Ek3 and all internal mailboxes are on the Ek3 server except the ones that connect via a pop3 connection. all other external email is being delivered correctly. This is a new mailbox setup to test the pop3. Now making a change to the host file to point to the internal Ek3 server allows me to connect internally via pop3 and receive emails sent internally and allows me to send emails externally. However any email coming from the outside to the mailboxs does not get delivered and a NDR is sent to the external email address. I succesfully restored to the LAB 3 Windows 2003 Domain controllers, and 3 Exchange 2003 SP2 servers (using the disasterrecovery switch). When I try to run setup of Exchange 2000 server using the disasterrecovery switch, I am receiving the following error: "The component Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "disaster Recovery because: - Active Directory has not replicated all the necessary permissions for the deleted items container. Please wait until replication completes before running setup." Keep in mind that I was able to do the setup /disasterrecovery for the Exchange 2003 servers in the same environment. The main part of Exchange will run on a Windows 2003 x64 server on the inside network. I plan to put an Edge Transport Server on a machine in the DMZ to isolate it from the inside network and not expose the main part of Exchange to the Internet.     - Cannot remove 1st exchange server I have recently moved exchange. Originally there was a SBS2k3 server, letâ??s call it MSTR, which was upgraded by transition pack to W2k3 Standard then W2k3 Enterprise. Then exchange was upgraded to 2k3 Enterprise. I have installed a new Exchange server, EXCHSRV1, joined the existing organization, sync'ed all public folders, moved the mailboxes and then ran through KB822931 to remove the 1st exchange store from the org. I changed our firewall, and SMTP connetorâ??s bridgehead configuration to route all smtp traffic to EXCHSRV1 but this failed. The traffic was being sent through but not picked up by the smtp server on the new exchange box. As soon as I turned the smtp traffic back to the MSTR, all was well. If I shut down the smtp virtual server on the MSTR, incoming email is down. I have recreated the SMTP connector with the new server as the bridgehead but still the same results occur. So now I have a new exchange server hosting all mail and public folders with the existing server relaying incoming mail to the new server. I am working towards moving everything off the original server to rebuild it as a new file server. What am I missing here? DOes the new server need to become the front end server? Did the typical install, mailbox, hub and client access roles. Connected to 2003 exchange no problem. New routing groups visible in 2003. Am able to move a mailbox from 2003 to 2007 with 2007 tools. OWA up and running on 2007. 2007 user can sent directly out to the Internet and can send to legacy users on 2003. The problem is the 2003 users cannot send to the 2007 users. Mail gets stuck in the The email get stuck on 2003 in the "Messages with an unreachable destination" queue on the 2003 server. What am I missing so that 2003 can talk to the 2007 server? I don't really want to spend the extra money on Enterprise server to use CCR or third party replication software. But what if my primary exchange server is a Mailbox, Hub and Transport. Root domain mycompany.com with several DCs (win2k and win2k3) with several exch2k3 and exch2k. Child domain site.mycompany.com with three DCs (2 win2k and 1 win2k3 R2) and NO exch2k3 or exch2k. I have created mailboxes on a Exch2k3 server (which is also a DC running win2k) in the root domain for users in the child domain. All creation works fine. Mailboxes, emailadresses, stores are shown correctly in AD users & computers and in Exch System Manager. When i try to configure the client (outlook 2k3 on a WinXp laptop) in the child domain with the child domain user logged on, in the step where you perform "check name" I get following reply : "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list". I have checked the global adress list (which contains the user with the correct e-mail adress). We have customized our maintenance intervals by: 1. scheduling a more exact backup window 2. scheduling a more generous window for online maintenance/defrag After modifying a new maintenance interval for both backups and online defrag - we noticed that the new start time for online defrag did NOT take effect, it still ran on the OLD settings. We decided to reboot the server, waited until the next day and realized that it still did NOT work. I've read that restarting System Attendant resolves this issue - but again, we bounced the server - to no avail. I cannot see the queue for novell groupwise conenctor in exchange (MAPI) Hello all, please please, my message transfer between exchange and groupwise seems to be working fine both systems can send and recieve mail from each other through the connector . but i cannot see the queue, it has a red exclamation mark on the connector for novell groupwise mapi queue with the following error. all serverices are started. grrrr Exchange System Manager failed to retrieve queues for the MAPI connector (error code = 0x80040111).     - multi domain on on exchange server 2000 running WIN SBS2003 Hi all, I am running a domain, i.e abc.com on exchange 2000. And currently want to add another domain def.com to the server. The expected situation is: the user of abc.com should have also an email address from def.com. When sending emails he should be able to choose the from address. Now I could receive mail on def.com (the second domain) but cannot send. The error: You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator.     - After Installing Exchange 2003, the machine wont surf I just installed Exchange 2003 and all of the service packs. This server can surf and be surfed anywhere inside, but can no longer get updates, surf the internet or anything to do with outside. When installing Exchange 2007 into an Exchange 2003 domain, the following
message is received at the Hub Transport Role setup:

Error: Could not find the default Administrative Group "Exchange
Administrative Group [FYDIBOHF23SPDLT]".
Elapsed time:

I have the Exchange 2003 default "First Administrative Group" on another
domain controller which is what I assume Exchange 2007 install is looking
for?

Any suggestions on how to correct this error?
