    - SMTP share space problem Exchange 2003 My company uses shared SMTP email address space. Part of our email users have Exchange Server as their mail server, while others still using ISP's email space. But the internal user still have their email accout at ISP side. We have a 3rd party pop software to pull mail from outside. Now the internal (or exchange) email users have problem to send email to the external (ISP) email users at the same SMTP email address space. They always got NDR like this: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: test 727 Sent: 5/19/2004 7:28 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: addressee on 5/19/2004 7:28 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <xsvr.internaldomain.com #5.5.0 smtp;553 You are not authorized to send mail as <MAIL FROM:<user@externaldomain.com> SIZE=1594>, authentication is required> Cause the ISP side need to authenticate user and password when sending email using its smtp server. My question is 1. why I must submit my authentication info to my ISP when I send email using the SMTP Sever in my Exchange? 2.     - OWA not working After I login to OWA, I have a very bad resolution/looking screen. I read in other posts someone have a problem like this before, and I found the asnwer below.     - Installing second server in different site of Organisation Hello We are in the process of migrating to Exchange 2003. Two of us are working on this project on two domains under one forest. The domains are UK and US. We have three Exchange 5.5 sites. Two are production sites, one in the UK and one in the US and one is a test site based in the UK We have run the deployment tools and have ADC set up and have agreements in place. My colleague in the US has installed E2003 and I can see his US site. The problem for me is that at no point have I been asked for the site or server details for the UK site I want to install in. Every time I get to running setup the Installation Wizard only gives me a user name and domain entry that are greyed out and for the US domain. I have run forestprep and domainprep a few times but with no joy I have researched the MSKB, and through search engines, but can find no explanation. Any pointerrs would be gratefully received.     - Question about using OWA on Exchange 2003 My apologies in advance if this question has already been asked and answered, however I am unable to find any information on this. I am setting up 2 Exchange 2003 servers for my company. Both servers are installed and working correctly from inside my network. I have one of the servers with 2 network cards, one side on my main network, the other side on a DMZ connected to the firewall. I have forwarded port 80 on the firewall through to the server. If, from the outside, I go to access a mailbox that is on this server, everything works fine. However, if I log in and try to access a mailbox that is on my second server which is only connected to my main network and not accessible through the firewall, I find that OWA tries to bounce me over to the second server, which of course won't work.     - OWA in the DMZ We installed a second exchange server and are unable to connect to the mailboxes that sit on the new server. We mapped two static ports to the DS and IS, 5001 and 5002 respectively. We opened these ports along with 135.     - Renaming Exch 2003 server affects I am getting ready to build a new server (2003) and install Exch 2003. Then I want to migrate all information from 5.5 to 2003 exch server. After the 2003 exch server is built and fully functional, I need to take down the 5.5 server and rename the 2003 Exch server to th 5.5 servers info. What affect will this have on exch 2003.     - Second SMTP exchange server I need to setup a second SMTP server for Exchange mail communication. The second SMTP server will use the differnet ISP and if the link that is used by my primary SMTP server goes down, the SMTP mails should be routed through the second SMTP server automatically.     - 2003 and 5.5 New mailboxes in ad not showing in 5.5 I have an old 5.5 and a new 2003. I could create mailboxes in AD on the new server and they would appear in the 5.5 list of recipients. Not happening now. Users on the 5.5 can not see the 2003 servers new mailboxes in the global catalog. I can migrate from the 5.5 to the 2003 and all is fine. What do I need to look for. During setup I have to specified the name of a server in Exchange 5.5 organization.     - Exchange 2003 move to new server Hi, we have an exchange 2003 server and need to move it to a newer server with better specs. We have already tried the exchange move to a server with the same name procedure with problems in the restore part.. We used BackupExec.... So we have junked this option of moving to a same named server ...... Is there any detailed procedure on moving an exchange server from one machine to the other? No need to keem the same name.     - Urgent question about 2 domains/5.5-2003 migration!!!! I have an NT domain with 3 5.5 exchange servers (single org, single site). I just installed a new 2000 domain, created a trust to the old NT server and am getting ready to run ADMT. Once I do that and install the 2003 exchange server into the 5.5 site (running ADC and all that fun documented stuff) will I have to touch clients to move them to the new domain? I want to migrate email but I don't want to have to join 3,000 workstations to the new domain! Will the workstations be able to login to their existing domain and have their client redirected to the new exchange server (which I assume happens automatically once it hits the existing 5.5 server and is notified of the new server I moved the mailbox to)?     - RPC over HTTP Problem Hi there. Right now i'm running and Exchange 2003 Server in a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise. My domain is an Windows 2000 in Native Mode.(All DC are Windows 2000) I'm trying to configure the RPC over HTTP functionaliy without success.     - Exchange 5.5 to 2003 - No details templates in Exchange 2003 Hi all when an outlook client connects to the Exchange 2003 server and tries t view the details of an entry in the address book/TO, BCC, etc.. fields, the recieve an error along the lines of Cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected is not vali for this recipient. Microsoft Exchange Server is not configured to suppor details templates in your language (English). Contact your syste administrator (doh! I have checked the appropriate container within Exchange Manager and it is totally devoid of any language folders at all I havent seen anything on the web about how to fix this problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated.     - email transfer to two exchange servers Hi all, I have a few users who have pop accounts with Network Solutions. After setting up two Exchange servers, connected via VPN, I want my servers to handle mail. Besides redirecting mail to my servers in dns, what else needs to be done? All company emails will be handled by these two servers located at different offices.     - Need help with SMTP connectors please I'm doing a Exchange 2000/2003 install and having trouble getting the connectors up properly. Basically, it's 2 physical locations with a dedicated line between them. Each location has an exchange server from the same organization. They are configured in seperate routing groups with a Routing group connector passing information between them. When I try to set up a SMTP connector for outgoing email, the RGC's stop sending and it's driving me batty. I need some help from someone who can work with me via email, IMS, or telephone this evening to help me get the configuration correct.     - Finding 2nd Exchange 2003 Server on Network I am working with a client to move mailboxes from one Small Business Server 2003 box with Exchange Server 2003 to another Small Business Server 2003 box with Exchange Server 2003. We cannot seem to 'see' the second server through the move mailboxes process built into Exchange 2003.     - forest prep fails. I am trying to install exchange 2003 enterprise on a 2003 enterprise server in a 2000 domain. I cannot get forest prep or domain prep to finish without errors. I thought it was a DNS issue but netdiag shows nothing wrong. I am using the domain admin login and password. I get through a large part of the Forest prep and then it stops with a generic error message as follows: A problem has been encountered in the Microsoft Exchange Forest Preperation setup component. Cancelling setup. Under the error the task bar stops at finalizing organizational container creation. The exchange server setup progress log notes that the version of forest prep and domain prep are 6903 and 6936 I can submit the exchange server setup log but it is fairly lengthy. There are no errors in the apps or system log. Can I "unprep" the forest and try again. Is there something else that I may be missing. It was a five minute install at class.     - Exc2003 AD requirements Hi, I'm upgrading my NT 4.0 domain and Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2003 AD and Exchange 2003, these are the steps I'm planning to run: 1.: Install new NT 4.0 BDC on new hardware 2.: Take one BDC offline for backup 3.: Promote BDC from step 1 to PDC (this should demote the existing PDC to a BDC) 4.: Upgrade the PDC to Windows 2003 and Active Directory native mode with permissions compatible with pre-win2k DC's (in this case the NT 4.0 BDC's not upgradet yet) 5.: Install Windows 2003 member server and Exchange 2003 Now this is my question, can I install Exc2003 in the domain when there's still NT 4.0 BDC's ???     - Exchange 2003 and ISA 2004 on same machine? I started playing with Windows 2003 Server after downloading the trial from the MS website and also got ISA 2004 BETA 2 and Exchange 2003. I have exchange and ISA installed on the same system and it connects to a router. the router is a hardware router. the server has 2 net cards, both on the same network (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.3). the router (192.168.1.254) is forwarding all port 80 traffic to the ISA Server, which is then forwarding it to a linux box on the network, and also certin traffic to my windows XP workstation for test sites. I currently have port 25 forwarded to my linux box which is getting mail for my domain (lotas-smartman.net). I want exchange to get the mail as it will do a better job then the linux box. I set up a domain on the network (lotas-smartman.local) but cant figure out how to get exhange to get email from that domain. I *think* its the ISA server, but i could be wrong. has anyone tried anything like this? anyone got an exchange and ISA server sitting on the same box? any tips? Thanks.     - domain names Hello : I am in the development phase of e2k3 , the problem that I have is that my internal domain name is mail.dal.xyz.com 10.0.17.250 ==> this is connected to our active directory. I have another NIC on that server on DMZ With 10.1.0.99 ==> directed to an external IP which resolves to mail.domainname.com , here is my dilemma : whenever I send an email to an outside email address it shows user@mail.domainname .com which I had to change the user's email address from AD.     - URL links OWA 2003 I've got a problem with an OWA 2003 install. In order to facilitate logins (only username) to OWA 2003 without the need for a UPN or UNC, I merely unchecked 'Integrated Windows Authentication' under Exchange System Manager...http...exchange properties.... This works fine, and the user does not have to add domain\username or username@domain.com, but when emailed a URL link, and upon clicking that link, the user is asked to log on for a second time. This also happens when the user clicks on the log off button. I have the same setup on an Exchange 2000 server for a different client, and this all works fine including the URL links.     - Address Books Hello experts! I have just implemented Exchange 2003 with Outlook. There is one minor annoyance with regard to the address books. When people click the 'to' button in a new email to view their contacts, the Global Address Book is displayed first instead. Now, I know that each client can go into the address book and change which one is the default, but I was hoping that there is a server side setting which would change everyone's default address book to their own contacts instead of the global address book?     - ES2003 from Exchange 5.5 Hello, I need help setting up our new ES2003 system. Here's our current setup: Win2k AD native mode, 2 sites (a.org and b.com) each with its own Win2k member servers acting as Exchange 5.5 servers. We have 2 new and powerful servers that came with Windows Server 2003 pre-installed. These new machines will be used as our new mail servers. We plan to install on Site A Exchange 2003 Enterprise, while Site B will have Exchange 2003 Standard. I have read the ES2003 deployment guide as well as a lot of the newsgroup articles about this particular type of installation, and the more I read the less confident I get about performing this upgrade. Our plan is to join our new ES2003 servers to the existing 5.5 organisation, starting with Site A. I've also read a lot about problems with LDAP ports and connection agreements not working as they should. 1. Can I install ES2003 on my new server as it stands, i.e. as a member server and not a DC? 2. What port should I change the Exchang 5.5 LDAP to when creating the connection agreements, and do I have to revert back to the default settings after the connections have been established or can the port stay on its setting? 3. As I plan to move the Exchange 5.5 mailboxes to the new ES2003 server, will I have to turn the old server off after I have done so before proceeding to upgrade Site B? 4. Will Site B be able to send and receive messages to and from Site A while the upgrade takes place on the latter, bearing in mind that I will have to perform forestprep and domainprep which will affect Site B.     - 2 exchange servers in 2 domains I currently have a watchguard firebox with two domains behind it. The domains are using the same ip/subnet scheme. Both domains have their own Exchange server, one is 2000 and the other is 2003. Everything seems to be working great, with the exception of one small detail. You cannot email from domain1 to domain2. Emailing to the outside world works great, along with incoming, as well as within each domain. When I try to email domain2 from domain1, I check the message tracker.     - Second Email-Domain I will like to include a second Domain in the Exchange Server Enterprise 2003. In Recipeint Policies the 2 Domain are there. In IM SMTP General I have use DNS to each address space to this connector. ( No sure if is OK) I have a local bridgehead, ServerName.     - Forms-Based Authentication Hi guys/gals, I've just completed the process to enable OWA w/ SSL (using a certificate purchased from a well-known CA). While that works perfectly, I've been unable to get it to work in conjunction with forms based authentication. I've enabled forms based authentication (FBA), but when I try to access my mailbox via OWA (https://<<exchangeserver>>/exchange), I get a "Page not available, HTTP 500 Internal Server Error". When I turn off FBA and return to plain ol' SSL, that works okay. I'd really like to get FBA to work because of the default login page as well as being able to choose between seeing the premium vs. basic OWA choice as well as choosing whether you are logging in from a public or private computer. I suspect this has something to do with permissions. I've checked the permissions on the \exchange, \exchweb, and \public folders under IIS, but all of the permissions seem to be the same as the ones I use in my AD lab (where FBA works fine, strangely enough). You can use Outlook 2000, Outlook XP, Outlook 2003 to connect to an Exchange
5.5 server.
