Public Folder Store (Server) > Queued
I am currently in the final stage of migrating from
Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. I have followed the steps
outlined in KB822450 for removing the last Ex 5.5 server.
I've successfully completed 13 of the steps. At this
point I have turned off the Ex 5.5 server.
In Exchange 2k3 System Manager, in the Queue of the new Ex
2k3 server I have an entry for the Ex 5.5 server. The
source for that entry is Exchange MTA. It is in the Retry
State and has one message. That message sender is Public
Folder Store (Ex2k3 server) and is in a Queued state.
I'm concerned about this with regard to proceeding with
step 14. It looks like the Ex 2k3 server is still tryine
to replicate to the Ex 5.5 server. I've checked all the
public folder property sheets and none are replicating to
the Ex 5.5 server. Is there something further I need to
do on the Ex 2k3 server to disable this function?
Thanks for the help.

KVS and PST's
Hello,
we are interested in the archiving of PST files and were wondering
"how does KVS do it" ?
Is it fully automated or is some sort of scripting involved as well ?
If so, what script are you using to find your PST files ?
An excellent group !
Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated.

a few SBS 2003 Exchange set up problems, Please help!
Also posted in exchange server, setup and SBS 2000
newsgroups.
Hi,
I have recently bought SBS 2003 already installed on a
machine from Dell but I am now having a lot of trouble
getting it to work as I need it to. As you will see I am
a beginer to servers but have a bit of knowlege regarding
desk top systems
Basically the server has been bought to allow a number of
offices to connect via VPN's and share calenders through
outlook. This is the first thing that I need to do. The
VPN between the offices works fine (I am using the VPN
that comes with the routers, Draytek Vigor 2600. This
allows LAN to LAN. Should I change this to pass through
and everybody be directed to the server?) but I can only
get some of the computers to connect. I have set up the
users via the 'to do' screen and the wizard. I have also
set up a few computers through the wizard too. Here are
some questions.
1.When you have a 10 user license does that mean 10 users
can log in from any computer with a username and password
or is it 10 computers and any of the allowed users can
log on as long as they are logged in to one of the 10
computers? (Do the users have to be logged onto the
client computer using the same user name and password? At
the moment we haven't set these up on the clients as
individual security hasn't been an issue and users swop
between machines)
2. Can a user log on to access the shared calender from
any computer by using the username and password? I have
tried this but the name of the computer always seems to
appear in the log on screen before the user name. i.e
OFFICE1/sue
3. When I open outlook 2003 on a client computer and try
to view a shared calender I get 'The name could not be
resolved. The connection to the microsoft Exchange Server
is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to
complete this action' The thing is that I can see the
Server via 'My network Places' Please what may be going
wrong here?
4. On another cleint I get this message 'Unable to
display folder. Your profile is not configured to support
this operation for this user' Any thoughts why?
I have set up all users to have access, change and share
each others outlook as administrators.
5. I can see all the folders on the server from a client
machine (mine) How do I go about enabling me to see the
desktop and change settings from my client system?
6. I get 'You are not authorized to view this page' when
I type http://SERVER/ConnectComputer into the address bar
of any client, even the two that I have managed to get
working correctly (well they can share calendars between
each other anyway) Please why do I get this page?
Any help at all on any of the questions will be most
appreciated as I am just about stuck with SBS but really
would like to learn a bit more about it.
thanks in advance

Moving mailboxes into another ad forest
Is it possible to move mailboxes from one AD domain structure to another if

Exchange 5.5 in native mode
I have a single windows 2000 active directory domain
runnig in mixed mode. The Exchange server 5.5 is running
on a Win2000 box. I am upgrading to Exchange 2003. Most of
the articles and guides I have read from Microsoft
recommend being in active directory native mode while I do
the upgrade to take advantage of the Universal groups and
such. (I might have multiple domains in the near future so
this would be helpful). Some articles I have read however
say you cannot run Exchange 5.5 in active directory native
mode. Which is it? And if you cant run Exchange 5.5 in
native mode, what do the articles mean that say it is
recommended you upgrade in a native mode enviroment.

I have a 3 server Exchange 2000 organization and am looking to upgrade to

upgrade advice Exc 5.5 -> 2003
For some years I have been unable to move up to AD due to lack of hardware
and some problems with another department sharing our network (ie multiple
exchange server in an organisational tree). We are seperate from them now so
I can forget about that headache.
Now we are able to upgrde, my first thought was to upgrade exchange 5.5 box
to 2003 (both win2k3 and exchange 2k3). What is the best way to do this. I
am getting a new server hardware ( to replace exchange) so can I install a
fresh standalone win 2k3 then install a fresh Exchange 2k3 and move the
mailboxes over to the new server, either one at a time or all at once? Then
retire my old exchange box (sob, good ol blinky). Is this recommended or is
there a better way.
I wanted to do this before I upgrade my PDC and BDC (which are separate
boxes and fast enough to handle AD DC duties) to AD in win2k3. Is the the
recommended order. (ie exchange then PDC then BDC)

Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 Cluster Migration in a Windows 2000 Domain
I am in the process of installing an Exchange 2003 Cluster into an
exchange 2000 Organization.
Here is the process so far.
1. I installed 2 Windows 2003 Enterprise member servers
2. Ran the Exchange Deployment tools and selected the option for
installing E2K3 servers into an Exchange 2000 Native Mode Org.
3. Ran /forestprep
4. Ran /domainprep
5. Created the Windows 2003 Cluster
6. Ran Exchange Setup on both nodes of the cluster
7. Created the Exchange Cluster
Everything to this point worked perfectly.
Here's the problem.
1. E2k3 System Manager sees all servers but E2k System Manager does
not see the E2k3 server.
2. A test user can send mail directly to the internet but the return
mail get stuck in the E2k server waiting for a directory lookup.
Any ideas?

existing email adress in organization
Hi,
I have a rather large problem. I had two win 2k servers
one of which was running exchange 5.5. I am upgrading to
win 2003 server with exchange 2003. I'd heard of problems
migrating to exchange 2003 from 5.5 so I used exmerge to
extract the pst files from the 5.5 server. I figured I'd
just demote the old exchange server and build up the new
on and update Active Directory and then import the pst
files into the new 2003 server. Well, it almost worked.
Except that I have the problem that after I import the
pst file into the new exchange server it takes the same
email address as it used to have on the old exchange
server. This is what I want but... If you email that
users email address it bounces back saying that there are
2 users with the same email address in the organization.
Also if I just create a mailbox for a user in the domain
and try to give it the same email address as that user
had before it says that the address is already in use on
the organition. If anyone can help with this I'd be very
thankfull. I can't just remove the email address from the
5.5 server either as it is no longer connected to the ad.
Cheers

Two Servers - One IP
Hello Everyone and thanks for your help in advance. I am new to both
Exchange and DNS and have an issue that probably involves both. I have two
Windows 2003 servers behind a firewall appliance with one static IP address.
The PDC, Server1.myDomain.com handles DNS records for the domain. On
Server1, I have set up the host and MX records for the domain. both of the
records point to the external IP of the router, which then forwards to the
appropriate machines. I am successfully receiving emails on the other server
Mail.myDomain.com. However, I need to set up Outlook Web Access to the
Exchange server. To do this, I think I would need something like
http://mail.mydomain.com/exchange to access it. If this is the case, then I
am not sure how to get this set up properly. Is it an Exchange issue or DNS
issue. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tag: Exch 5.5 on W2003server Tag: 122147

Exchange 2003 Error
Hello,
I have been getting this error from our exchange 2003 server randomly since
we migrated from a exchange 2000 server. We use our exchange server with
outlook 2000, and do NOT host our own external email. here is the error.
A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.5 was generated for
recipient rfc822;<email address> (Message-ID
33516BB6CBBC87488E59F3E8735D6CF4148085@<Servername>).
Causes: A looping condition was detected. (The server is configured to route
mail back to itself). If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured
on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming
port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping
between local virtual servers.
Solution: Check the configuration of the virtual serverÆs connectors for
loops and ensure each virtual server is defined by a unique incoming port.

I'm going to bring email in house and I was considering

There's only about 20 or so pc's on this network and

domain.

a bug fixed in sp2 or 3 or can I do anything else to see my system folders?
Thanks

Upgrading NT.4 2000 with Exchange 5.5 installed.
Hi,
I'm upgrading NT4 single server PDC with Exchange 5.5 installed and am
wondering if I am able to just upgrade the PDC to windows 2000 active
directory? and will it effect exchange 5.5 as I plan to upgrade to Ex2000
after that is complete. Is that the correct procedure and do I need the ADC
installed to allow Exchange 5.5 to communicate with Active directory prior
to upgrading exchange.
Please don't ask me why I am not going to Server03 and Ex03.

Has anyone here run into this error before?

Lotus Notes to Exchange 2003 Migration
Currently my company's primary server is Lotus Notes running on an AS400
machine. I recently completed the installation of front end/backend Exchange
2003 setup. No issues what so ever. After reading "Exchange Server 2003
Interoperability and Migration Guide", I proceeded with installing and
configuring the Lotus Notes Connector on our Exchange 2003 backend server.
At the step where you start the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes
service, the AD organizational unit designated for existing lotus notes
users, started populating with all users from our Lotus Notes server as
disabled accounts. In the Lotus Notes Connector properties, under the Import
Container, I have it set that "when replicating a mailbox whose primary
windows account does not exist in the domain" = "create a disabled windows
user account". For all the Lotus Notes accounts, there are equivalent AD
accounts. I don't understand why all these disabled accounts were created.
Make me think that the connector couldn't figure out how to match AD accounts
with the lotus account. Has anybody ever experienced this? How does one go
about troubleshooting this? From what I read, it doesn't seem like the
connector is to behave this way. Additionally, if I took the disabled
account generated from the Lotus Notes connector, disabled the pre-existing
AD account and enabled the disabled account generated from the Lotus Notes
connector, I can send messages back and forth between Exchange and Lotus
Notes without any issues. I have approximately 200 users to convert and this
process to get Lotus Notes users to Exchange would not be optimal. Any help
or suggestions would be appreciated. Tag: Exch 5.5 on W2003server Tag: 122066
Migrating public folders to Exchange 2003
I have set up a new Exchange 2003 server on a new
domain. The old domain is Exchange 2000. I need to move
some of the public folders over to this new Exchange 2003
server on the new domain. How do I do this? I read
something on here about exporting to .pst files. Is this
true? If so how do I do that? I'm able to migrate the
mailboxes over just fine from 2000 using the migration
wizard.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Migrate Ex2003 to new server in same site
OK. What's the deal. I can't find a document to guide me through the proper
steps to move my Exchange 2003 server to a new machine.
I have installed Exchange 2003 on the new server. I chose to add a new
Exchange server.
Do I just run the migration wizard? Can it be that easy?
I later want to remove the old server.
Any help or KB articles for me?

ADC and SRS Help
We are currently in the process of migrating from Exch
5.5 -> 2003. We have our connection agreements up and in
place and have already moved 2/3 of the mailboxes over.
We have not yet reconfigured the Public and User CA's to
point to SRS from Exchange 5.5. Is there any reason to do
this now? Will there be any noticable effects? We have
not yet used pfmigrate to replicate public folders. Will
this be an issue without repointing the connectors to
SRS? How about when we remove the Exchange 5.5 server?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Foreign Language Support/Configuration?
Can anyone here comment on foreign language support in
Exchange 2003? Basicaly what, if any, configuration is
needed on Exchange 2003 to support non-english
languages? I have assumed this was handled for the users
on the client side. Thanks ahead of time. Tag: Exch 5.5 on W2003server Tag: 122039

Front-End/Back-End and Recipient Update Service
I am in the process of upgrading from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. I planned on
using four servers, 2 front-end servers and a 2 node active/passive cluster
as the back-end. Since you have to have at least one 2003 Exchange server
running before you can install the cluster, I used one of the front-end
servers as the first Exchange 2003 server. So at this point, I have the
cluster setup and one front-end running the ADC connector and co-existing
with Exchange 5.5. The problem is that I can not check the box in front of
"This is a front-end server." The error message says that it can not be a
front-end server because the Recipient Update Service is running on it. So
my question is, what are my options? Can the service be moved to the
cluster? Do I have to purchase another server or what?
Thanks
