I am getting an error c1041724 when ever I am trying to mount a mailbox store.
We have a windows 2000 Exchange organisation on a Windows 2000 active
directory. This organisation consisted off an Exchange server running 2000 on
a 2000 server and another server running Exchange 2003 on a windows 2003
server (we ran forestprep and domain prep 2003 before installing). I think
the problem started when I tried to install Exchange 2000 on a sub domain.
The exchange server installed but the Information Store service would not
start. ( I tried trawling google for an fix, but could not find one). I then
tried to uninstall this Exchange server but it would not let me. So I removed
exchange using the Microsoft KBid=260378. I then used the system manager from
one of my other Exchange servers and removed the now Failed server from
active directory.
I then decided to try and install exchange on another server on my root
domain where the rest of my exchange servers are. Exchange installs and all
the services come up but I could not mount the mailbox store and got the
following error.
An internal processing error has occurred. Try restarting the Exchange
System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or both.

I have since discovered that even if I go to my existing exchange server and
create a new mail box store I get the same error when I try to mount it.
Note when I create a mailbox store, the system tells me that it created it
successfully, but it does not create the edb and stm files ( this happens on
both the existing server and my test one)
I have gone through all Microsoft c1041724 errors and cannot find a fix (ie
I have checked the space, security etc )
