    - MSADC We just finished upgrading our domain from NT4 to 2K3. We have a TIPTOES environment (meaning we have all flavors of Exchange except for 2k3 in different domains). Since the upgrade of the DC's we are getting LDAP errors on the ADC. The message is as follows: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSADC Event Category: LDAP Operations Event ID: 8026 Date: 5/31/2005 Time: 10:04:05 AM User: N/A Computer: ROOTDOMAINCONTROLLER Description: LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory EXCHANGESERVER for distinguished name 'domain\serviceaccount'. Directory returned error:[0x35] Unwilling To Perform. (Connection Agreement 'NameofAgreement Public Folders' #2536) I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything that says exactly what the problem is. I have tried rebooting the servers, refreshing the SRS, recreating ADC Agreements, and many other things. I also get the following error when running the new Exchange 2K3 ADC wizard when trying to connect to one of the Exchange servers: Could not connect to server EXCH2K:379 with LDAP error -53. Check server name, port number and account permissions. Could not connect to server EXCH55:389 with LDAP error -53. Check server name, port number and account permissions.     - Exchange 2003 Setup I am trying to bring an Exch 2003 Server into an Exch 5.5 site to migrate mailboxes from 5.5 to 2003. I am following a group of deployment tools (AD Connector services) and receive an error when completing step 4: Connection Agreement Wizard. Error: Could not read the attribute msExchHomeSyncService off the object CN=Exchange Connector,CN=Active Directory Connections,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=mydomain,DC=com I used ADSIEDIT to view the AD Connections under Microsoft Exchange. There are 3. Default ADC policy Exchange Connector Exchange Recipients I checked the msExchHomeSyncService and there is currently no value set. What am I missing?     - Manually Create an ADNAutoDRC I have a situation where for some reason or another when installing an E2K3 server in a mixed E55 site, the ConfigCA is created but two issues are found when done. 1. The ADNAutoDRC is not created on the new E2K3 server. 2. The scope of the ConfigCA is missing the recipient policy object. I am pretty sure that permissions issues are causing this and I have manually added the recipient policy object to the scope, but I can not create the ADNAutoDRC manually.     - RPC over HTTP on Windows 2000 server The documentation which comes with Exchange Server 2003 outlines how to set up RPC over HTTP on a Windows 2003 server so that external Outlook 2003 clients can access an Exchange 2003 server. However, I have my Exchange 2003 server software installed on a Windows 2000 Server box. Is it possible to configure a Windows 2000 server box with Exchange 2003 to support RPC over HTTP?     - How to relay through exchange I have exch 2003 Enterprise on one server and my application server is win2K3. I installed outlook on the application server so that emails could be sent from within the application. Mail to internal users works fine. But I can't send to external users.     - Error Mounting mailbox stores error c1041724 Hi I am getting an error c1041724 when ever I am trying to mount a mailbox store. We have a windows 2000 Exchange organisation on a Windows 2000 active directory. This organisation consisted off an Exchange server running 2000 on a 2000 server and another server running Exchange 2003 on a windows 2003 server (we ran forestprep and domain prep 2003 before installing). I think the problem started when I tried to install Exchange 2000 on a sub domain. The exchange server installed but the Information Store service would not start. ( I tried trawling google for an fix, but could not find one). I then tried to uninstall this Exchange server but it would not let me. So I removed exchange using the Microsoft KBid=260378. I then used the system manager from one of my other Exchange servers and removed the now Failed server from active directory. I then decided to try and install exchange on another server on my root domain where the rest of my exchange servers are. Exchange installs and all the services come up but I could not mount the mailbox store and got the following error. An internal processing error has occurred. Try restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or both. ID no: c1041724 Exchange System Manager I have since discovered that even if I go to my existing exchange server and create a new mail box store I get the same error when I try to mount it. Note when I create a mailbox store, the system tells me that it created it successfully, but it does not create the edb and stm files ( this happens on both the existing server and my test one) I have gone through all Microsoft c1041724 errors and cannot find a fix (ie I have checked the space, security etc ) These are the errors on my event log for my existing exchange server.     - exchange issues Hello, I have not set up exchange in a while, and i know there are many new changes in exchange 2003 so i thought maybe someone could give me some ideas in terms of implementation. I have two offices, one in miami and one in west palm beach, both offices are connected with a vpn, and can talk to each other without a problem. One office has a win2003 server (ent.) which is acting as a primary domain controller, the other office also has a win2003 server (ent.) which is acting as a backup domain controller. Both are under the same domain and are replicating fine, and i have some DFS folders in both which are updating fine. I installed exchange 2003 on the pdc, and using rpc over http i set up the clients outlook 2003 mailboxes without problems. Since exchange 2003 uses the AD, it was a snap to do. The only issue is setting up the public folders, since exchange admin is not the same as in previous versions, i am lost as to how to implement the public folder on users mailboxes. The issues i would like to know, is whether i should install exchange 2003 on the 2nd DC, would there be any advantage to doing so. I do want to use Outlook Web Access, but not sure how that will work in one or two servers. The domain website is hosted by bellsouth, even though it could be hosted locally on the machine. We have a static ip and dns is configured on both dc's. My question is basically, should i install exchange 2003 on the 2nd server, and how can i configure outlook web access and test it to make sure that ive done the changes right. My PDC is also a certificate server, so i would want https access to OWA. If someone can give me an idea as to what is best in terms of implementation, i would appreciate it.     - NT4 Domain to W2K3 AD migration I am planning a migration from NT 4 domain to 2003 AD domain. Right now I have a Exchange 5.5 running on W2K server, however I am little confused by the ADC usage. Correct me if I am wrong, I understand that ADC will help my exchange 5.5 server talk to AD so that after domain upgrade my users can access their mail accounts, right? Second question, do I want to install ADC on my exchange 5.5 box after I upgrade domain or do I install it on separate box, and if separate box does it have to be a server or a workstation.     - Options when domain controller gone (a bit urgent) Hi, Apologies for the urgent comment in the subject but we're in dire straights here. I was wondering where the best place to post was, as the first part of this is more related to general AD domain functionality, but I'll get to more Exchange specifics later. Up until recently, we've had two main servers. One hosts the AD domain, with DNS and DHCP installed, and is the primary file sharing box. The second machine is the mail and Internet gateway server, running Exchange 2003 and ISA 2004. Basically we've lost the main domain controller and it appears it's not recoverable, so it's going to have to be reinstalled from scratch. This isn't the end of the world and it can be brought back up in relatively short order, the big issue is the Exchange box. The first idea we had was to promote the Exchange box to being the PDC (or whatever the teminology is now in AD-land), and then hook what was the PDC before up to this, effectively reversing the roles of each machine in the domain. Now I'm getting a bit lost here. I presumed that, since the Exchange machine had to be integrated with the domain, that it would have all the necessary domain info replicated on it, but of course there's no DNS service on that machine, which is what actually hosts the AD domain, so this can't be the case can it? If so, then I'm rather puzzled as to why this box is working at all. Everything seems to suggest that the AD domain has "gone", as there is now no DNS server anywhere on the network, yet clients can still access Exchange and the 'net (via ISA) without being prompted for login credentials, plus viewing AD Users and Computers does still bring up the full list of user accounts, after a brief delay. So the first question is, does the Exchange box actually have a "copy" of the AD domain data on it that can be recovered? We tried using DCPROMO on it but that wanted to remove AD before it did anything else. This seems to support the theory that AD is installed on this machine, yet how can this be if there's no DNS server present? I'm a bit confused here. If what I want to do here isn't possible, then we're going to have to setup the failed server as a new AD domain controller, and replicate all the user accounts and groups. The question is, once this is done, can the Exchange box be "re-integrated" with this controller in any way, or will we have to backup all data, uninstall Exchange and AD and then reinstall from scratch? Any advice would be appreciated here, as we need to get started doing something here but I'm wary of doing the wrong thing. Thanks in advance, Regards, Toby.     - Error 0xC00000B5 with ADC Step 3 I have an Active Directory setup which was upgraded from NT4 Domain. The last NT4 Server holds the Exchange 5.5 Server with all mailboxes. The server has Exchange SP4 and Windows NT SP6a. Domain Migrated fine, and all tools ran ok. Netdiag, DCDiag, etc. Running ADC checks and get to step 3 when I receive an error. <code>0XC00000B5</code> <errormessage>Could not bind to the Microsoft Exchange Directory server Exchsrvr.     - Solved: Missing OMA and active-sync directories from IIS After weeks of research why OMA and active-sync are not working i discover the obvious. Both virtual directories were missing from IIS. It seems that a lot of people have the same problem and after the installation of exchange2k3 these virtual directories are not there thus OMA and active-sync is not working. I couldn't find any descent and easy to do article on how to recreate them except re-installing the exchange. Another issue was the the application pool was not correctly registered after you manually add the directories and you had to add it manually but IIS will not let you do it cause the path "c:\program files" contains spaces and other things that i discover to be a drawback to many users. So here is the easiest solution. Find ANY exchange 2003 sp1 installation which has correctly from the begining the OMA and active-sync virtual directories. Right-click on the OMA directory=>all tasks=>save configuration to a file. Do the same thing for the active-sync directory. Copy the two .xml files to your problematic exchange and go to your IIS=>default web site=>rightclick=>new=>virtual directory (from file)=> select the first .xml and then do the same thing with the second .xml If your exchange install directory is different than the source which you exported the .xmls then you can edit the .xml file and change the inside path to your own. BANG! active-sync works instantly! Even the missing application DLL is solved with this way. I don't know if this whole procedure was something old but i was so excited to finally solve this and i wanted to share the knowledge. They receive the following message: "Cant copy the items. You don't have sufficient permissions to perform this operation on this object.     - MS Exchange Server 2003 and BiDi charsets (iso-8859-8 or iso-8859- We have created an e-mailing software that supports sending e-mails in multiple languages. One of our customer reports that the Hebrew e-mails that they receive in MS Outlook 2003 through MS Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise + SP1 Ver 6.5 Build 7226.6 have the hebrew text displayed in incorrect direction. The e-mailing software sends the e-mails as multipart/mixed with two text/html body parts. Both the text/html bodyparts are represented in iso-8859-8-i charset (Hebrew). When the e-mail arrives in the Outlook inbox, the charset appears as iso-8859-8 due to which the direction of hebrew text within the e-mail is shown incorrectly. By changing the encoding to "Hebrew Windows" in outlook, the content appears fine again. Please suggest why MS Exchange Server would modify the content from iso-8859-8-i to iso-8859-8. Is there a way that the MIME message coule be built that will prevent it from being repackaged by the Exchange Server.     - Incoming mail on exchange Hello, I have setup a new test exchange server 5.5 and replicated the settings off of my existing production Excahnge Server. I setup the MX record for the test box with my ISP and I am able to send mail from the MS Outlook client but incoming mail is not working. On my production mail server all I have open on my firewall is SMTP which I do not understand how I am able to receive emails when SMTP is used to send mail. I did the same for my test Exchange server , I only opened up SMTP. Whht do I have to make sure is setup correctly in order to recieve emails from the outside world. Internal mail is working. What do I do after it is installed to create a certificate? I know what to do with the certificate once it is created in order to use OWA over an SSL connection. I did like that ; - I have installed win 2003 AD with a new domain name and created trust with NT 4.0 domain - moved user accounts using ADMT ( not all users only head offie users ) -moved users mailboxes ( not all users only head offie users ) I dindt want to move all users with one day operation causing some special needs, and also it was seemed to me doing step by step would be better.I was wrong ! my branch office users were using ( still they can use without any problem) pop3 and smtp while head office users using MAPI.Actually branch office users only have mailboxes in head office, they have their own domain without any trust with head office domain.They had user accounts in head office NT but it wasnt related any service except mail.And the last thing, i upgraded my users email client outlook 2000 to 0utlook 2003. result ; After migration I had 2 exchange server within a site ( in same echange organization) and had one trusted domain ( AD win2003 and NT 4.0 ) And then my problem was occured. Some of my clients were complaining that they disconnected from outlook 2003,and they got logon screen which is asking domain username and password.I tried to relogon using their account name and password, but it didnt work.When i restart outlook 2003 it was connecting without any problem.The re-logon screen was sending sometimes by exchange 5.5 server, sometimes by exchange 2003 server.Both server also domain controllers.It was happining random.Some clients see this logon screen very often, some clinents see the first day after migration and see second time after 2-3 days.I almost checked and done everything with my knowledge but didnt fing a solution.( Checked server side and client side ) If anybody knows something about this problem and help me, i will pray for that lucky guy till i die.I promise.     - Incoming mail to public folder.. Exchange 2003 Have a public folder called, for argument sake, Webresponse I have an email address webresponse@mydomain.com I send email from outside my domain to that address, and it ends up in the public folder like i want it to..     - Outlook web acccess Hi For starters I wonder if there is possible to get outlook web access functioning with only two exchange 2003 servers that holds their respective mailboxes in one site? Or do i have to get a front end server with two backends? The reason is that we have a setup there OWA only works on the "main" server, the one that all mails to the domain is coming in to. OWA logon to the mailboxes on the second server on a diffrent geographically located site and AD site doesnt work. Thoose accounts is getting "Page cannot be displayed". Any suggestions about this?     - Incomming E-mail I'm currently using an Exchange 5.5 server and Exchange 2003. E-mail has been coming into the 5.5 and routed across to the 2003 server, where the mailboxes are held. Inbound SMTP is routed from Messagelabs and NAT'd at our boundry to the 5.5 server. I have changed the NAT configuration to route mails to the 2003 server (have had this checked and is OK), but e-mails are still going directly to the 5.5 server and then routed to the 2003 server.     - Exchange 2003 upgrade - swing method Our Domain has one win 2000 server with exchange 5.5 installed. We have recently installed a new 2003 server into ad and used the swing method to move the mailboxes, public folders etc to the 2003 server which we have installed with exchange 2003. We were intending to format the existing win2k server and reinstall with 2k server and exchange 2003 and use it in a new remote site. However we have been told that we cannot now format the machine, due to a legacy app on the machine that cannot be reinstalled.We also cannot rename it.     - Connection Agreements?? I am currently switching over to exchange 2003 from a 5.5 organization. My 5.5 organization has 3 sites, and i currently have a connection agreement with one of them.     - General Question? I have recently re-installed and setup for a second time in a year a new exchange server network with one of my clients. While migrating everything over for use on the new exchange server. One item has locked itself as far as permissions is concerned. There is a public calendar that has been locked and visible to all the users on the network, however nobody is able to add, change, modify or delete any date on the calendar or delete the calendar as a whole. A new calendar folder has been created and the old calendar copied. So that all permissions are accessible.     - Laptops with local Outlook on Exchang Server I am a crass novice at Exchange and need some basic help. My office is running a 10 node 2003 Std Server network. Each workstation/user utilizes Outlook as their mail agent. Today I installed Exchange and now need to integrate the users into its confines. All of the workstations are XP Pro. The reason for switching to Exchange is to be able to share calendars. How do those who take a laptop home access email and update their calendars short of a VPN, etc? Is there some sort of "offline" mode by which the separate laptop can default to a secondary connection for email without having to load with a second profile? The reason for this question is to insure that emails are available in the same folder at the office as at home and that the same is true for the calendar, etc. Thanks for any direction that someone may give.     - Mailbox Rights Running Exchange03 with Active Directory, when I go into mailbox rights of some user accounts, they contain lists of users such as Domain Admin, Enterprise Admins with full access rights, and these rights are inherited from a Parent object. Which parent object is it coming from? I looked in the properties of Organization Units, nothing there. And there isn't a checkbox to uncheck the inheritance. Thanks in advance.     - Uninstallaing exchange blues Hi , Need HELP , SUGGESTIONS , YOUR EXPERIENCE IN PUTTING THIS PROJECT ON TRACK. All the prep work finaly went fine. I tried to install exchange 2003 in 5.5 org as first server to co-exist, it failed on collaboration / or DCOM objects could not be installed step. SO i had to cancel it, Gave more permissions to the account and ran the setup again this time it installed exchange but DAMN, when i opened system manager I Could not see the old Exchange servers. I looked at the installation progress logs, it says it could not find 5.5 and MOVED on with the installation. When i tried to uninstall exchange from setup, it did not let me. SO i went in to ADSI edit took off New Exchange server entries. When i tried to synch through ADC, i got tons of Exchange related errors in ADCCONFIGCHECK log. It indicates all configurtaion objects from both my mail servers could not be replicated to AD. I have NO CLUE how to get this going again , ANY SUGGESTIONS would be appreciated.     - MS Mail Post Migration Issues I have recently completed a migration from MS Mail and VPOP to Exchange 2003 Enterprise. I've uploaded all the pst files via exmerge and everything is running very smoothly. But there's a small problem, if anyone replies to an old email it's in the form of Windows/PRODCON/username and comes back undeliverable. Is there any way within exchange to setup mappings or any utilities that will change the stored data so i can replace the MS Mail addresses with valid email addresses. I am sure this has been asked a thousand times, so what's one more?

I created a new AD domain to move to. I have a trust between the AD domain
and my existing NT domain.
I want to move users over slowly to lessen the burden on the IT staff of one
huge weekend move. Is the best way to do this with ADC?
Or should I make the new Exhcnage server a member of the 5.5 organization?
