I have 5 people setup using a pop3 account from an internet provider and we
push that mail from the internet provider to an Outlook Client and this is
saved as a pst file. I have just installed Exhcnage 2003 SP2 on the server.
This is all new to me so this might be a stupid question, but I need to know
how convert or migrate the pst files into Exchange and it what steps do I
need to do this. I believe I also need to contact our pop3 provider and have
them make some changes in an mx record to our outside ip address. Another
question is what ports on our firewall do I need to open so mail will flow
through to our exchange machine.

Thanks
Greg

Talk to your provider about the MX record. There is plenty of stuff on the
web on how to configure Exchange to receive SMTP mail.

To copy / move data from the PST to Exchange server it's a matter of
selecting the mail in the pst and then pasting.

In addition to Andrew's reply:

For the mail delivery - see http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF002.html

For your Outlook users' mail:

1. Set up a new mail profile for them with the Exchange mailbox in it - no
Internet Mail or PST files
2. Open Outlook and make sure you can connect to the mailbox
3. Open the PST file ( file | open | outlook data file)
4. Find and select the items in the PST file folders you wish - copy them
and paste them (or select, Edit | Copy To Folder) into the appropriate
folders in the mailbox. For the calendar, you'll find it easiest to change
the view to "By Category" ( a table view) first.
5. When done, close the PST file (right-click on the top-level-folder in the
navigation pane / close)

Do not, do *not* make the mistake of using the Import menu in Outlook or
you'll likely have problems.
