Hi Bob,
Generally speaking, the roaming profile saves your desktop, favorites
setting and so on. It will not save the Control Panel settings.
Hope this helps.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)

<Hi,
<
<With your collective guidance, I have found the problem.
<
<There is a registry key called "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\MMCPL"
with
<an entry called "mlcfg32.cpl". This entry has the path to the mail
control
<panel and as shown below - there are four possible paths to the mail
control
<panel.
<
<Given my environment, where:
<1. I have several machines that are members of a domain.
<2. All users have Roaming User Profiles.
<3. I have x86 and x64 machines.
<4. I have Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 installed on these various
machines.
<
<Here is what I believe is happening.
<
<When a new user first logs on to a workstation, (or maybe when they first
<start Outlook), the mail control panel key is created in HKCU with the
path
<that is particular to that machine.
<
<Lets say this user first logs on to an x86 machine with Outlook 2003. In
<this scenario, the key created will have the path "C:\Program Files\Common
<Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl". Because the key is kept in HKCU,
<when the user logs off, this key is copied to the server's Roaming User
<Profiles share.
<
<When this user logs onto a different machine, lets say an x64 with Outlook
<2007, the HKCU key will replicate to this workstation. Because the path
on
<this machine to the mlcfg32.cpl is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
<Office\Office12\MLCFG32.CPL", the mail control panel will not display.
<
<The four possible paths for the mail control panel are:
<
<x86 installations:
<Outlook 2003 - "C:\Program Files\Common
<Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl"
<Outlook 2007 - "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\MLCFG32.CPL"
<
<x64 installations:
<Outlook 2003 - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
<Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl"
<Outlook 2007 - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
<Office\Office12\MLCFG32.CPL"
<
<
<So, IMO, this is a flaw in Outlook and I feel the registry key should be
<located at HKLM rather than HKCU.
<
<btw, my circumventioin is to create a shortcut to mlcfg32.cpl and place it
<in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft
<Office\Microsoft Office Tools".
<
<If you have a better solution to this problem, please let me know!
<
<Thanks for your help!
<
