    - .net and fox tables auto inc field We are slowly changing over to vb.net. We have come accross a problem with auto inc fields, we cannot update tables that contain an auto inc field. Using databurner activex control (http://www.viscomsoft.com/) but have not had good success. Many problems getting the ASPI layer installed in Windows XP (and other versions).     - VFP 9 method procedure combobox font issue (bug?) VFP9. I have identified what appears to be an issue (bug?) with the font used in the procedure combobox in method edit windows. As you can see from the pics linked to below, I like to use foxfont for editing code. You can also see the font that the Procedure combobox appears in. After a while, the comobobx appears to take on the font I use to edit code, as picture in the second linked pic.     - cryptoAPI question I have written a little routine to store client's credit card details. It is encrypted using the cryptoAPI class (don't remember where I got it from). My question is that it would seem that data encrypted on one computer (S) running 2000 server may not be decrypted on a different computer (X) running XP PRO. They use the same encryption password. If the data is encrypted on (X) it can be read on (X) but not on (S). Could this be a difference in the encryption providers? I have not changed anything from the default operating system installations. Or does it mean that once encrypted you can only read the data on the machine that encrypted it?     - SET ESCAPE and ON KEY LABEL ESC I'm using FPW2.6 and I want to bind an emergency quit function to ESC during potentially lengthy processing. It appears I can't do it very well. This application has SET ESCAPE OFF and the OKL doesn't work properly. In the end I've bound F12 which works fine but SET ESCAPE does seem to affect ON KEY LABEL esc. Does anyone have any insight on this? In the following test program, a wait window counter is supposed to keep going until either F12 is pressed [it ends] or ESC is pressed [it says "interrupted" until you clear the wait window.] In fact, what happens is F12 quits as expected and ESC seems to do nothing. Until you try to press F12 afterwards - notice you need to press it at least twice after pressing ESC to make it quit. Usually it's twice but sometimes it's more often. I've never managed to make ESC show the "interrupted" message it is supposed to. One time I ran this and pressing nothing but ESC several times and then F12 several times it threw a "DO nesting too deep". How? There is no DO nesting. If you set escape ON at the top of the program, it still doesn't work, ESC just does the standard program interruption and asks "Cancel" or "Ignore".     - Thumbnail View I am using the GETFILE command to list the files in a folder so the user can pick a file. All of the files are graphical images. How do I programmatically tell the getfile control to display the files as thumbnail images? Is there a Windows API that I can use to set the properties of the folder so that it always displays the files as thumbnails? When you set this manually, Windows remembers the setting.     - Annoyed about security warnings I'm sure the answer is no anyway, but does anyone know how to self certify an app as secure within your own organisation without getting the security popup on startup with Win XP, esp SP2. I can get around this with a registry hack or an over-general group policy setting (e.g. allow all exe files), but I like the idea of improved security in the first place.     - How to DNS query an MX record I'm on phase 2 of trying to verify the email addresses in a mailing list. First phase was syntax checking, which the Wiki helped me out a lot with. Phase 2 is reading the right hand side of the email address and checking the DNS to see if a valid MX record exists. I've seen a lot of pay-for controls out there, but also found that NSLOOKUP from the command prompt returns what I need. Does anyone know of any API functions which return the same as NSLOOKUP? I want to put the distributable program on two floppies on the A: drive. The wizard will only allow me to specify a directory on the C: drive. 2. Hi, I have a form with a grid which point to a freetable with this settings : CursorSetProp("Buffering", 5, "MyFreeTable") when double clicking on a record in the grid, another form is opened with all the details for that recno. So the user can change or add the record in MyFreeTable. There is one funny behaviour : when the user changes the value of a field, and then wait 5 seconds the changes disappear ! What should I do to disable this ! I have a Set Refresh but the help file is saying that this is only with Browse.     - Form in a Formset ? I am using a Form to capture input from Barcode - The form is contained in a Formset having some 7 forms other than this -. The form has a lable "Scan Barcodes or Press Escape to EXIT", and a text box control - made invisibe by setting back/fore color properties, and an invisible command button which I want to manage the controled exit from this FORM. When I press ESCAPE it makes all the forms in the FORMSET Disappear which is not intended rather what I want is just to make THIS FORM Disappear by executing the code in the INVISIBLE - by Setting its VISIBLE Prop. to .F. - buttons Click method. I have tried Push KEY and redefining the ON KEY LABEL ESC Do This.btnCancel.Click() from the Load event of the FORM but it seems to have no effect.     - SQL Passthrough Performance I have a query takes about 5 minutes to run in VFP using SQL passthrough, but only takes 9 seconds using a tool like QTODBC (http://gpoulose.home.att.net/). VFP6 was great for its time, but that was several years ago. After the update is downloaded, the application has to be restarted for the update to be in effect. So, after the download completes, a button is shown to close the application.     - Begin Transaction with Table Buffering Hi All, I have this odd problem and I wonder why is it so. I have a function where by user will enter the details of an order and when save, an order number will be self-generated hence all details of the order will be updated with the self-generated order number. The problem here is I have error message 'Record is out of range' when doing a Replace all with local view. You can replicate this problem using the Command Window. Try this using VFP table with at least one primary key:- ** --- create 'testtable' with testcode char5 (primary key), description char20 View 'testtable' ** --- start of first BEGIN TRANSACTION Begin Transaction ** --- insert 2 records into testtable ** --- start of second BEGIN TRANSACTION to wrap the tableupdate() Begin Transaction ** --- change the value in TestCode field (1st record) ** --- move to second record and values in that record will be blanked off ** --- change the value in TestCode field (2nd record) and move to the first record, VFP will display 'Record out of range' error Any idea why is it so? I mean it is ridiculous problem but it exists. Removing the 2nd Begin Transaction will solve the problem but I lost the save sequence wrapping. I tried my "printpreview" which I've succesfully used but without a reportlistener. The preview is showing on top but the toolbar isn't ?     - Relational Link (Fox6 bugs ??) I have some strange problem with my relation link of my program. I'm using VFP6 SP5. Here is the scenario: A two page program: Page1, grid source = cursor1 (with buffering 5) Page2, grid source = cursor2 ( No Buffering) cursor1 is set a relational link to cursor2 when user click the button inside the grid on particular row on first page, page2 will be display with the data that is generated with a query base on the data that user clicked on first page. (This query is only executed one time per record of page1, this is archive by using SEEK, SQL is only executed if it cannot find any record in cursor2) E.g: cursor1.Row1-1-->cursor2.Row1 cursor1.Row1-1-->cursor2.Row2 cursor1.Row1-2-->cursor2.Row3 cursor1.Row1-2-->cursor2.Row4 My Problem: 1st, i click row1-1, page2's grid show empty. (Row1 & Row2 is already generated in cursor2, cursor1 pointer was at Row1-1). 2nd, i click Row1-1, page2's grid now show me Row1 & Row2. 3rd, i click Row1-2, page2's grid now still show me Row1 & Row2. (but cursor2 already contained Row1, Row2, Row3, Row4) Did anyone encounter this problem before ?? i have tested, this same program works perfectly in VFP9.     - SET EXCLUSIVE in VFP8 Query Wizard We use a query wizard in a project for multiple users to run queries on DBC tables, which works fine. When we try to set up and run the wizard instead across a set of free tables, we get 'file access denied' errors. Why is that?     - database - table references (VFP9) Hi, During runtime, an empty database is copied to some user-determined location. The problem is that the application ends up using a mix of the old database/table location (which is the location/tables used during development) and the new one. SET("PATH") does not point at the orginal location. Using LIST DATABASE shows that the .DBC does not contain any references to the original path. Not using ! in the FROM clause solves the problem for SQL statements but form's still show data not present in the current database. So a candidate seems to be the data environement / cursor.database property. But tried modifying the cursor.database property in the BeforeOpenTable method with no luck.
