 - TableUpdate() Dear Sir/Madam We are using Visual Foxpro (Version 8 Sp1) and ODBC (Visual Foxpro Driver 6.01.8629.01). We have a severe problem in that when a table has more than 50 fields in it and we are doing a tableupdate() the program crashes with a fatal error: C0000005. I have noticed that this error occurs at the same point (record) as if you have done a copy to array on the table. I.e. at the point the array has reached its 64k limit. (does tableupdate() use an array - if so can this array be cleared?) We have managed to code around the error by saving each reacord after 30 fields have been replaced . Ie using TableUpdate more than once on the table. The problem with this though is that performance is decreased enormously (so much so that the software is unusable).  - scroll bar for image control hi all, i am working on the project which shows the picture of toys along with its packing list and other details. The problem is some pictures are two big and cant fit into one form. therefore, i tried to change the stretch property to 1 or 2 instead of default clip so that the size of photo can be reduced and can be easily viewed. But some photos especailly the big photos after changing the property are not clear. can we not provide scroll bar or something like that. I mean to say can we drag the photo to see it full. Does image control has some property which can function like this.  - Creating Macros in User Apps I would like to know if it's possible to access the macro dialog box from within a visual foxpro application. In foxpro I can use SYS(1500,"_MST_MACRO","_MTOOLS") which is fine, but Tools-Macros is not available typically in an app. I've tried to define the menu using the corresponding bar#, that does nothing.  - using double-byte character sets (DBCS) Hey everyone! I'm working on a program that takes keyboard entered words (whose letters each have an ANSI value between 0 and 255) and converts them to charcters and expressions in a given double-byte font. To do this, what I really need is a double-byte equivalent of the CHR() function. But since there isn't such a function, there must be some other way of going about it. Related to all this, when I copy characters to the clipboard using the Windows XP Character Map, they paste fine into all my other windows programs (WordPad, Photoshop) but they always paste in as "???" in VFP6 even though I've selected the display font to show the desired double-byte font.  - MSMAPI question I did a form that try to send an email with some attachments. It works great under W98 2nd edition. In Win 2000 in some workstation it said that the class was not registered. I registered using regserv etc.. and it is not working properly I always get the same message, the class was not registered. In other WK under Win 2000 I got an error message in the following line. oform.Message1.send(1) the error was: exception code OLE dispacht 0 de MAPImessages. Unespecified failure has occurred. I do not know what to do. The aim of my program was to built a form that run in almost any environment (Win 98, 2000, XP, etc) using Outlook Express.  - Playing a WAV File over a Modem We want to play a .wav file over a our PA system in the warehouse when a condition is met.  - Tableupdate always true with cursoradapter and ado Hi, I'm using VFP8 with sp1. I'm connecting to a DBC by using an ADODB connection. Retrieving and updating data works fine. To do that i use a cursoradapter that uses the adodb connection as activeconnection. So far no problems. But when the following situation occurs, tableupdate behaves very strange: User 1 opens a record for edit User 2 opens the same record for edit User 1 updates and closes the record, the data in the record is changed User 2 updates and closes the record, because the data has changed this user should receive an update error but i don't get an error either on the recordset, the connection or with the TABLEUPDATE(1,.F.).  - Class Instantiating Problem I have a DLL project with two classes (Let's say ClassA and ClassB). From ClassA I want to call a method in a different class, which is also called ClassB (this is not the same ClassB that is included in the project). Now if I use NewObject('ClassB', Path of ClassB), instead of creating the ClassB from the path I specify, it creates the ClassB that is included in the project.  - Shortcut evaluation Hi, I'm having a bit of a headache because of the following: I want to let the user type an expression and check whether it's valid or not eg "x=1 and y=2" Now, the tricky part is that I can't be sure that y (or whatever variable the user makes up) exists at this point. Now, if x equals 0, the "y=2" part is not evaluated, so I won't get an error if Y does not exist and therefor I cannot report this error (so my "expression-validation" routine will not indicate that this expression cannot be used for all values of x). Now the user can make quite some difficult statements (with brackets etc) eg: (x=1 and y=2) or ((b<=3 or c=3) and c>2) or InList(q, 'a', 'b', 'c') So my question is: does anybody have an idea about how to generate a list of all variables used in an expression?  - Assigning objects I have a situation. From container1 I am zooming into container2 by trapping the click event of container1. Both containers represent the same thing, except that container2 looks big. When I come back to container1, I want all the control settings that I had made to container2 to appear in container1 and also when zooming to container2 from container1, I want all the settings of container1 to appear in container2. What is easiest and the best way to do this? Using a base class to represent both the containers. And creating 2 objects to represent the normal and zoomed versions of the container and assigning one object to the other when zooming back and forth. Can this be done?  - VFP 8.0 unstable and unreliable ? Hi I was asked about some weird behaviour of VFP 8.0 executables and IDE. The network is a mixture of Novell 5.x and Windows 2000 Server, Win2k box is running SQL Server 2000, and Novell 5.x holds several .DBFs for a legacy Clipper DOS system still in use and printing services. The workstations are mainly Win98 (several) and Win98SE, mainly with 32MB RAM and slow disks (I guess there is a lot of legacy computers still in use, Pentium II MMX 266 and K6s 300). There are a number of serious problem in the stability of the clients. And the programmer's team experienced some real problems with VFP´s IDE stability, even on Windows XP Pro, suddenly VFP 8.0 crashes and deletes the form o report you were working on until that moment. There are some other glitches at the clients, the mouse pointer frozen, no blue screen but a "Windows 98 must close.." and similar issues, with a lot of problems at the help desk (the whole network compromises about 200+ computers). They are going to switch to Delphi or .NET in these days, that unstability isses upset all the programmer's team and in-house IT crew, they almost do not want to hear about VFP anymore.  - LB's, arrays, VFP9b vs earlier versions & my memory I haven't been writing any VFP for a few months, but I wasn't able to get a lb to display all the rows in its rowsourcetype=5/rowsource="arrayname" until I began manually to update the numberofelements property to match the number of rows in the array.  - OLE Automation - Excel I have a program where I create excel spreadsheets from a cursor. Then, I use ole automation to format the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is being used as a report. However, people who will use this spreadsheet would like the ability to sort the spreadsheet on different columns. How can I programmatically add code to the spreadsheet to give an user the ability to sort on any column by clicking on it.  - $$ always displays $ not Currency Symbol In my grid I have a column which is bound to a numberic I want my column to display the numberic as currency (although I want to store it as a number) I have set my currency up: set currency to '£' I set my column inputmask propery up to be "$$9,999,999" format is none, but when run it shows a $ i.e. $12,345.67, should this not show £12,345.67 ? I have tried other combinations of format and input mask, none of which give me what I want format $, inputmask 9,999,999, result: "$ 12,345.67" format $, inputmask $$9,999,999, result: "£$12,345.67" format $, inputmask £9,999,999, result: "£ £12,345.67" format <none>, inputmask £9,999,999, result: "£ £12,345.67" format <none>, inputmask $$9,999,999, result: "$12,345.67" format <none>, inputmask $9,999,999, result: "$ 12,345.67" How can I get it to display "£12,345.67" ???? Is there any way of finding out excacly what table update translates into.
ie can i find out the sql command it generates????
