Could I request M$ to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreemnt? :)

Ok, I knew our stuffs aren't that mission-critical, but ....it's still
my company's property.

Do you *really* think that if you submit your product's source code to =
MS, they will publish it to the world?
I've had many gripes with MS but trust isn't on my list of issues.

Compared to the complexity of writing a compiler and its IDE, my
company's project is nothing. But I just want a little bit of guarantee...

If you have a unique, new, popular idea, MS might be tempted to find a
way to copy it with or without your code. Otherwise, there is little
to fear.

The components of MS Office, MS Project, and Fox Base were all other
people's ideas at one time. Of course, Fox in its infancy was a copy
of somebody else's (Ashton-Tate's DBase which was bought out by
Borland) idea too. What's to protect?

The issue is that we are working with a languages. How many ways can
you think of to describe a chair? In VC, in C#, in VB, and don't
forget in Assembler, which MS does not make available to us any more.
Too much low level access.

Of course, MS would not distribute your code. In the first place, it
is simply not necessary. The existence of your brilliant idea on the
market is enough of a hint for those who don't have brilliant ideas of
their own.

I figured out a better method. Have a guy/gal sent from Microsoft Hong
Kong to extract information from my foxpro project. Of course, it should
only be done when M$ had interest in my projecthook problem.

Yo Yo Let of Toy -

Are you wanting to submit due to 'proof of bug' , requiring source code ?
IIRC, that usually means you have to open up a support incident, and instead
of submitting ALL of your source code, you should try to make a genericized
or even obfuscated source code version that ONLY isolates the problem you
are having.
or
Are you wanting to submit for 'XP Logo' Certification ?
If the latter, you are not sending source code into the 3rd party Testing
Center,
they want the compiled app, an installer piece, and some documentation on
how to
install .

In both cases, your source code is deemed your company's intellectual
property,
so if you really want to show MS something that you deem a bug, best to
first have web conference on a
support call with a MS VFP support rep. You have to ASK for that.

Steve Gibson has a whole section of his website (www.grc.com) devoted to
assembly language programming. I don't do it myself and haven't since my
Z-80 days but for Gibson, it remains his favorite programming language.
