    - Editbox lost focus issue I can't reproduce the following 100% of the time, but it seems to me that if I exit an editbox in one of my forms by clicking on a listbox (and/or perhaps elsewhere) on the same form, the underlying tables are not always updated properly. The update is accomplished via sql statements in the lostfocus() event of the control. There is no controlsource and the fields in question are character memo fields. The lb does drive the table that stores the data, but I can verify that this is not a case of the data being written to the wrong record.     - Monitor Network Activity Does anyone know of a way to monitor network activity to a specific IP Address programmatically? Hereâ??s the situation. We have an IP Phone system in the office (Itâ??s a Mitel system if that makes any difference). Our computers are all connected to our phone via network cables, which is then connected to our network. Each phone has its own IP (i.e. 10.10.2.x) Basically, Iâ??m looking for a simple way to check to see if someone is on their phone. We could become certified with Mitel to develop software for our phone system, but that requires training, time, money, etc... and it is probably overkill for what we currently need. So I figured if we could just pole the network activity to the phone, that would probably indicate to us that the phone is in use. Any ideas on how this can be accomplished?     - converting from vb Hi there, need some help here. I'm developing a program to extract data from a smartcard. The sample program from the development kit that come with the smartcard reader was develop using VB. I'm having problem in getting the picture from the smartcard into my vfp form. In VB, the code is : Set Image1.Picture = MyKad1.Photo In my vfp form, I put Thisform.Image1.Picture=MyKad1.Photo but when the code is run, got error message, invalid data.     - VFP 9 SP 2: How is It Running? I installed VFP 9 SP 2 not too long ago. Since then, I have observed a number of crashes. SP1 was stable. I write this as I just had to delete foxuser.* AGAIN. This time, it was because I could not modify a table that I needed to change for debugging. I would simply start VFP, do my normal setups, open the table, locate the row, browse, change the value in question, save, and BAM! C0000005 everytime! Deleting foxuser.* got rid of the problem. Rebooting did not. And how have your VFP 9 SP 2 experiences been? Is anyone using it? (Is it really my turn to be bleeding edge, or is everyone else doing fine with it?)     - Street Type Validation Anyone have a street type validation process? I need something that when given a string will return true if the string is a valid street type (including abbreviations). For example, if given "Avenue" or "AVE", it will return .T., but if given "Fred", it will return .F. I'm writing an address parser and need to be able to identify street types. Thanks!     - VFP 9 SP2: Command Window ?Bug Twice now, my command window has become messed up. Normally, there is space between the leftmost character in each line and the left frame of the window. This has disappeared. Commands still work fine, but the cursor is no longer visible when it is at the beginning of the line. Since I frequently repeat previous commands, this is bothersome. Deleting foxuser.* does get rid of the problem. It also gets rid of my useful settings. At least I have not had to lose a bunch of debugger settings. This has happened only since switching to VFP 9 SP 2. I have not changed the general way that I use VFP since switching to 9. Am I missing a setting? Is there a workaround?     - VFP 9: Maximum String Length According to the VFP 9 docs under "Visual FoxPro System Capacities", the maximum string length is 16777184. What is the true maximum, and where is it documented? Adding characters ten at a time, I created a string of 40 million characters. If I start with one character and double, I get an error 1903 (String is too long to fit.) after 16777216 (2^24). (This is odd since twice that is less than 40 million.) If I start with one character and double up to 16777216, then add 1 MB at a time, I get an error 43 (There is not enough memory to complete this operation.) after 383778816 (over 1/3 GB). Since it is possible to create some very long strings and yet get errors on shorter strings, what are the rules for l-o--n---g strings?     - Illegal regursion in triggers I know there's a way to do this, but I just don't remember. I have a table with a timestamp field which contains the datetime() of the last update and I want it to be updated whenever any change is made to a record and regardless of any table buffering.     - Update SQL problem I'm having some troubles with an update statement, using VFP 9, and it's driving me buggy, might someone see what I've incorrectly done? I have two tables: Master - has dozens of fields, approximately 10000 records Corrections - Has five fields (item, serial, firstrent, origcost, acquired), 500 or so records The last three fields in the Corrections table need to be changed in Master, based on the combination item+serial matching in Master, so I know there are about 500 records that will be updated. When I use the code below, I get 0 records updating. I suspect it has to do with my Where clause, and have tried many different derivations. Can someone help?     - Trimming combobox length display I have a an array populated from a table [tablename(cid c(8), cdesc(100))] and bind it into a combobox as the rowsource. The problem that I have is the length of the display when using the combo box is showing the whole 100 characters even I only have a maximum 30 characters from my table.     - Assigning colors to grid cells I wish to display a series of change records in a grid on a form. They are ordered by change date, so that the newest record is on top. I wish to change the color of any cell who's value is different than the cell below it, but am not able to make the grid work this way. I have played with the Dynamic* properties of the columns but this does not really work: On the initial load it seems to work by calling an EXECSCRIPT() which does skip 1 m.Val = table.val skip -1 if table.val = m.val return m.nHIGHLIGHT else return m.nNORMAL ENDIF However, as soon as you start moving through the grid, the colors are assigned strangely.     - VFP 9: Command Window Display I have run into an bothersome difference in VFP 9. I am debugging an program and have a browse in the middle to look at a generated cursor. The command window now displays over the browse. This knocks out using a full-screen browse which I occasionally need.     - Printing All, I am trying to get FP 9 to print using a print preview component that consists of an ocx wrapper for a dll. The dll will not register as an activex in FP, even though it is registerable with regsvr32. I can get all the way through defining the page layout, and send copy to the printer. At that point nothing appears to happen. No job in the printer object in the control panel, no print preview. I see this in "What's New if FP 8" (haven't got around to 9 yet): "You still can't print reports from within a dll-based vfp com object."     - FPW 2.6 + Windows 2003 Server + DHCP problems I think we've solved it, but looking for input from others that may have experienced this problem. We have 12 XP Pro clients running our FPW 2.6 application. We recently decommissioned the trusty old Netware 3.11 server and put the DBFs on a Windows 2003 Enterprise server shared folder. Each client has a mapped network drive to the shared folder. We were experiencing problems with the application getting sporadic "File read errors". We found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684 and ran "net config server /autodisconnect:-1" on the server. The file read errors continued.     - VFP GRID PROBLEM hi all, i am working on client/server application, front hand VFP and backened SQL Server. I am facing the problem in grid. It acts very weird. If the record source of the Grid is SQL Table, sometimes it shows only one record and sometimes blank.     - Report hangs in FPW 2.6 I am still using FPW2.6 for an application on a Windows2003 Server, with workstations that run Win2000 or XP. Until last week, every report printed fine, but now there is a report that always hangs (hangs both on preview and on printer). The report preview window opens up, but it remains blank for ever, until I kill the ntvdm.exe in the Task Manager. The config.fpw file contains MEMLIMIT=80,16384,32768 since ever. I am consistently getting a string value of '956' from within my application. I am using VFP8. Making this call in FoxPro, without starting my application, correctly returns 0.     - case statement in remote view? Hi, I would like to create a remote view that includes a field that is populated based on a range of another field in VFP 9. For example, I have a view that returns contact last name, first name. The CASE statement appears to be the best choice to me but I'm not sure how to implement it in a view like this. I'm thinking last names starting with A - E = 1, F - J = 2, K - O = 3 and so on.     - Data Type Mismatch??? Hi everyone. Can someone please take a look at this code? It's very simple. What I am trying to do here is insert a default date of "12/31/xx" into all inv_date column fields, xx representing the last two digits of the year that the user previously entered. I need to do this so that the original application still accepts the proper date format mm/dd/yy. Here is my code: y = Substr(Transform(lcinput),3,2) replace ALL inv_date WITH ("12/31" + (y)) If I type this code into the Command Window and type ?"12/31/" + y, I get the 12/31/02, if the user entered 2002.     - VFP 9: Alternative to sys(1037) I have been using a keyboard-sys(1037) sequence to change printer orientation. This is a kludge, of course, and occasionally, when I was using the app, it would hang up wait on the printer form. (I never did identify exactly when, but it was when I had switched focus to another program, and only occasionally.) Surely, there must be a better way, one that does not count on the operator being "friendly". I have looked for code to do this. I found two on Universal Thread, but the documentation is rather sparse. Except for my recent excursion into the kernel API, I have not used external routines before in VFP.     - Report printer driver error with new listener / preview I have just tried creating my first VFP report listener. All I want to do with it is be able to detect whether a user printed from a preview. I subclassed the ReportListener class, but the only change I made to it was to capture lPrint in OnPreviewClose and save it to a property so I could look at it later. I am using the default Preview Container that ships with VFP, with no changes except cosmetic ones (caption, height, etc). This works correctly in that it does allow me to detect whether the print button was hit in the preview. However, I'm having two problems. The first one is that the preview takes quite a long time to load, probably twice as long as if I have SET REPORTBEHAVIOR 80 and scrap the listener. The second problem is that when the user presses the print button, they get an error - 1958 Error loading printer driver. I don't specify print drivers in my reports, they generally just go to the user's default printer. Do I have to set a printer driver somewhere for the listener to work correctly?
