    - VFP8 and mysterious C0000005 error Hello! I'm currently installing a application, made by VFP8 on some W2K PC's. The weird thing is that the program works fine on some machines, but fails with fault c0000005 on others. The application doesn't even start. It crashes just after double-clicking the icon. There is no usefull information in any log to be found. By searching the Internet, suggestions like videodriver, audiodriver, printerdriver et cetera where mentioned.     - SET COLLATE problem Hi, One of application had a auto index feature. It used to work fine. However, recently, when working on displaying chinese character, I change my win2k system to chinese locale. Now, when my VFP5 open any dbf file, my system locale will auto change to chinese, any input into the dbf file will be display as chinese. That is when my application when doing auto indexing will give error of Error number: 1915 Error message: Collating sequence 'PINYIN' is not found. I had tried to set my application COLLATE TO "MACHINE" and use cpzero on my dbf file but all in vain. I had even set my VFP5 collage sequence to MACHINE Pls advise on how to solve the above issue and why. Plus how to change my VFP5 environment to input English insteads of auto input chinese.     - Grid columns and subclasses I know I can drop a base class into a grid column, e.g. a command button, and it's useable in design time, but is there a way to do this if I've subclassed it? I've tried using the class browser (VFP7/8) but it doesn't want to work for me. I can add the object at runtime with AddObject, but I'd like access to all the good Intellisense prompting during design if possible - it makes everything so much easier. Grateful if anyone can help.     - Unusual Report Problem Any help or suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance. I have the following problem with report printing. To keep this post short I'm going to use meta code: Get a List of Clients to Print Reports For (SQL Query) For Each Client Get a list of detail items for report (SQL Query) Report Form xxx to Print NoConsole End For This code is being called from within a form. I first tried putting the code into a user defined method within the form itself. When I started having problems I took the code out of the form and put it into a separate PRG. The problem is as follows: The first time the report is run (for the first client) I get a "Variable Not Found" error from the report itself and the detail lines of the report do not print. Each of the following reports print perfectly. Here's the strange part: If I run the prg from the command window instead of from the form all of the reports print correct or If I run the prg from the form with the debugger on all of the reports print correctly It is only when I run the prg from the form without the debugger that I have a problem One last piece of data on this problems (to add to the strangeness) The form is a top-level form with a menu. When the report code is run from the menu as described above the problem occurs. When I put a button on the form which calls the identical code (the above mentioned prg which is outside the form) it runs perfectly. The button is my temporary work-around for this problem but I would like to be able to get this code to run from the menu. Does anyone have any idea what type of problem I am looking at?     - Creating a new database with copies of old tables Is there a way to create a new database, and copy the tables from another database into this new database with out truncating the field names or any other strange problems? we have a dev db and a live db, when we use ten dev system they db's are linked still back to live ... if we change the database name, we think that it would fix the linking problem, but we need to move the tables into this new db to do that, we think.. does anyone have any idea's? thanks!     - Order by with a union I have a comboBox with an sql statement that has 2 fields in it both of them are shown in the dropdown. I want it to sort by the description (2nd field). My sql statement has a UNION in it so that I can have a blank record for the user to choose from.     - Reports Not Printing Hello All, We created a FoxPro application that ships with about a dozen reports. All of them print correctly most of the time, however one of the reports does not always print. In some cases, only the header prints and nothing else. The strange thing is, it is not limited to a particular hardware configuration. On some machines it always prints. On some machines it never prints. And on some machines it sometimes prints. On the development machine in particular, it prints every time. The report consists of a header with 6 text fields and a detail band with a text field that stretches with content to create paragraphs. It was created in MS VFP 8 SP1. THISFORM._cryptapi.EncryptSessionBlockString('2453029','Scania ABUlf Ericsson',@lcEncryptedDay) puts a string containing chr(0) into the variable lcEncryptedDay. But WSHShell.RegWrite ("HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MyKeyName\",lcEncryptedDay) puts a string without chr(0) into the MyKeyName value. Furthermore, the characters after chr(0) are omited. If I use loRegistry.SetRegKey...(the registry class) instead of WSHShell.RegWrite the same thing happens. Is there a workaround for this behavior? Any help would be very appreciated.     - How to retrieve the value in a particular cell in a grid? Does anybody have any ideas for retrieving a value in a particular cell in a grid where the cell is not in the ActiveRow. In my case, I am trying to retrieve the value in cell(1,1) from within the Scrolled event. Currently I am using the ActivateCell method and storing it to a variable (called by the Scrolled event when the user scrolls). It works fine until the ActiveRow scrolls out of view Maybe I am looking at this incorrectly.     - Connecting to Network printer using VFP Hi, Can somebody please give me an example how to connect to the network printer (assuming that I am on the workstation and want to connect to server printer [one of the printers]) on Windows network, using AddPrinter(), OpenPrinter(), ClosePrinter() API from winspool.drv or similar.     - Invalid VFP8R.DLL I made up an application into an exe file using Windows XP. If I load this program on an XP machine it runs fine. When I try loading the same program on a Windows 98 second edition or even try to run it from a work station on the network that uses Windows 98 I get the message "THE VFP8R.DLL file is invalid or damaged". Do I have to compile this program on a Windows 98 machine in order to run on it or can someone tell me the problem or what has to be done.     - How to get machine name and ip address? I have a routine in an error handler that sends an email to admins when an error occurrs. The app is running on different boxes, and there is currently no way to determine which box is sending the error email.     - XP questions Sometime, long ago, I found a solution to my questions by reading the threads, but I have been unsuccessful finding the answers on my own. Here goes. I have moved a v2.6 foxpro application to a XP system. Questions: 1)How do I enlarge the display? and 2) How do I direct output to a network printer. On one workstation the display window displays correctly without any action from me, on another workstation is window is very small. As far as the network printing, on the workstation that prints to a HPJ4 network printer, I have changed the printer to HPJ4, added an entry in config.fp "Printer=LPT1", under file->printer setup changed "print to:LPT1", "print on", etc. Yet, when the app sends a print request the machine sits seemingly idle for a very long time and returns to menu.     - checkbox in grid won't accept input Hi all, I have a strange one and I've been banging my head against a brick wall. I have a grid with one column that I want to be a checkbox instead of a textbox, and I am having problems getting the thing to accept input. But ONLY IF I add it programmatically to the grid. If I add it visually it works fine. Here's the code I'm using to programmatically add the checkbox to the grid: lcCol = THISFORM.MyGrid.Column5 && my column I want the checkbox in &lcCol..AddObject('Chk1', 'checkbox') &lcCol..Text1.ReadOnly = .f. &lcCol..Text1.Enabled = .t. &lcCol..Chk1.ReadOnly = .F. &lcCol..Chk1.Enabled = .T. &lcCol..Enabled = .T. &lcCol..ReadOnly = .F. &lcCol..Sparse = .F. I can enter "T" or "F" in the textbox rows, so I don't think it's a column setting. What's weird is if I remove the textbox that's in the grid by default and ADDOBJECT a textbox, that textbox refuses to accept input as well. Anybody have any ideas?     - ODBC Trace not creating log file Hi Everyone, I'm using "MDAC 2.7 SP1 ON WINDOWS XP SP1" according to the component checker found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];307255 When I start an ODBC Trace from the ODBC Data Source Administrator, no log file is ever created. I've done two tests, one with a DSN using the Visual FoxPro ODBC driver (pointing to VFP tables on our Netware server), and one with the IBM INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT driver (pointing to tables on a Unix box). I've downloaded tables with both DSN's to an excel spreadsheet, but no log file is created. I saw other posts on Google noting that the logfile is not always created where the path indicates, so I did a filesearch and there is no logfile on any of my drives. I've also checked the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.ini\ODBC registry key and the values look right (Trace = 1 (when supposedly tracing, 0 when not), TraceDll = c:\windows\system32\odbctrac.dll, TraceFile = c:\odbc.log).     - FPW2.6 incorrect order with SELECT ... ORDER BY 1 Hello, does anyone have any insight on this? I have an order system with an array of all the suppliers in a popup. This is the command I use to populate the array: SELECT supname,supref,supcurr,discount ; FROM supplier ; INTO ARRAY suparray ; ORDER BY 1 Recently the order has been rather random [after working OK for several years] and I naturally thought "index error.." Except it isn't, setting the order in the index sorts records correctly and deleting/recreating the index doesn't fix the problem either. If I replace the ORDER BY clause like so SELECT supname,supref,supcurr,discount ; FROM supplier ; INTO ARRAY suparray ; ORDER BY supname then all is correct again. Also SELECT supname,supref,supcurr,discount ; FROM supplier ; INTO TABLE c:\delme ; ORDER BY 1 creates a cursor with records in the correct order. According to the help under SELECT-SQL...ORDER BY it states I can use "A numeric expression indicating the location of the column in the result table. (The leftmost column is number 1.)" Why is the array suddenly out of order? Is it linked to the fact that I recently indexed the table on a field "supref"? I have the following problem with report printing on Terminal Server. The report is cutting off 2-3 cm from left or right margin. I'm using VFP6.0 SP5.
Any suggestions?

Have you removed the printer-specific information from the Expr, Tag and
Tag2 fields of the first record of the FRX table?
