Why VFP not popular in academic?

Is there any of you have heard VFP is uses for academic
purpose?
Recently I plan to continue my studies but as far as I
seen all the academic test don’t use VFP as their test or
even worse I never heard VFP is one of common language
uses in academic purpose.
Frankly I try to apply at academic with the student get
their financial aid, but it don't use VFP as their
evaluation process test, I am very disappointed.
Does any of you know where VFP is uses for academic
evaluation process test, I would very happy to heard that.

because academicians (wow, did I wrote it ok?) don't know that VFP exists.
And also because it doesen't have that accuracy in calculus, only 20 numbers
and they need more and making VFP more accurate would take much longer than
C++ or pascal.

Contrary to popular beliefe, the purpose of colleges is not to give you an
education, but to have a high percentage of their graduates get jobs. There
aren't alot of VFP jobs out there.

The reason they don't use VFP is because VFP isn't used very much compared
to c, VB or Java. If I had to choose languages for school kids to learn, VFP
would not be one of my choices. It doesn't matter how good it is, what it
can do, etc. VFP developers are not highly employable anymore, and the
supply of VFP developers far exceeds the demand. Given Microsoft's track
record for aggressive marketing of VFP (or lack thereof), I don't see this
getting any better in the foreseeable future.

I can't say for sure what it is like in other countries. If there is a high
demand for VFP developers in other countries, I think I'd seriously consider
immigrating right about now :)

Academics typically do not teach "programming languages"
but priniciples of programming. For many years Pascal
was the ideal language for teaching structured programming
followed by C. Then later object oriented programming
made C++ the best combo. Some intro to databases usually
results in SQL or something popular like Access.
They have nothing against VFP, just it is a specialized
tool.

Contrary to claims here that there are too many VFP programmers (only),
in this recession there are a lot of other IT skills chasing jobs.
Start your own business and you don't have to look for one.

If VFP is "dead" (this "foxpro is dead" phrase has been resurected
and died many times over the years) why is there so much activity
in this and other Foxpro newsgroups?

VFP is more used for smaller businesses apps. If you can make a good
app in VFP and it will sell - irregardless how "popular" or "unpopular"
VFP is in academics.

btw my really question is : is there any academic /
university that give their student financial aid and uses
VFP as evaluation process guide ? , OK if this out
