Hi,

I noticed that VS.NET 2003 has a template for building Setup projects under
"Setup and Deployment". Has anyone used this to deploy VFP8 apps? Is there
any documentation on how to do this? Our app has activex components and we
use a post install procedure when we install it under VFP6.

We don't want to use installshield.

TIA
Jan

Inno Setup is popular with a lot of VFP-folks. Free.

What are the issues you have with InstallShield?

Hi Jan:

No, I don't have any information on using the .Net tool for deploying VFP
apps. You might want to post such a usage question on one of the VFP
forums on www.universalthread.com.

Why don't you want to use InstallShield? It ships with VFP 8.0, and it is
free?

I hope this helps.

This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

We don't use installshield as shipped with VFP as it does not cater for post
executables.

Thanks for the response Lee. I believe it is "installshield express limited
edition" that ships with VFP. This version does not provide for post
installation execution of a custom program and thus we cannot use it. In
order to be able to run post executables you have to upgrade to the full
version of installshield express (so in fact installshield is not free but
merely a promotional try before you buy product).

Many thanks again for the suggestion.
