Hello

Could anyone please send me or give a link to where I could download patched
files of foxprow 2.6a so than could run in XP.
I downloaded patches themselves but they state the file is not the right
size, internation patch does not work either.
After playing with them, I do not have 'divide by zero' message anymore, but
fox crashes after 'invalid path or filename' message.

I do not have any installation disk anymore so I cannot follow the official
patching procedure.
Maybe I could download installation kit form somewhere?

Best regards and thanks for any help,

Piotr

If I am not mistaken, Fox can crash with this error if there is a wrong path
in the %PATH% environment variable. You might want to check that first.

You don't need to actually install FPW since it's a 16-bit application.
When do you get this error exactly - just starting FOXPROW.EXE or running
an application ?

Hello,

Error occurs during fox start.
Fox shows first screen, then menu and before command window is shown there
is this message window called Program Error (with message: invalid path or
filename) with cancel, ignore, suspend buttons- whatever you push, you get
message that fox caused general protection fault...

Best regards and thanks for your interest

Piotr

The GPF thing doesn't sound too healthy but it is definately running a
Foxpro program if you see the dialogue you described.

Is this the behaviour if you run the foxprow.exe file directly from
explorer? If so then it must be trying to run some foxpro program, maybe
there is a COMMAND=DO myprog.prg in your config.fpw file?

Can you just try renaming config.fpw, foxuser.dbf and foxuser.fpt in the
same directory as foxprow.exe (if present) to something else to clean the
environment. Then try running foxprow.exe directly from explorer and see
what happens. If it works then I think the problem is something in the
program it's running..
The GPF shouldn't usually happen from a Foxpro program but maybe the program
is trying to do something a bit special. I have this gut feeling that foxpro
itself is working fine - aside from the fast computer patch [not an XP issue
anyway] we have had no GPF-style problem running on XP [a fair few printing
issues but that's another story..]

Hi

I tried before to clean the environmet, config files etc. It does not work.
Could you send me please your working .exe file? Maybe it is the fastest way
to solve the problem.

Best regards

Piotr

Hi

I forgot to add that the same files (directory is shared) work on other
win98 and WinXP computers, so it looks sth. is wrong with mine.

Thanks

Piotr

How fast is the computer?
On 2.6 and higher computers, I've found that I start getting that again; even
with the patched esl.
Using slowstart.exe seems to work tho.

heya Piotr -
when you shell to dos
and type
SET

look at the path statement .
you should have something there for your FPW app.
if you don't - I suggest you fix that .
