Hullo A Kincer -
the fifth paragraph ?
hmmm - dig out the book roughly entitled :
'Visual Basic Database Programming' from MS Press , ca V6 of the VB
product.
That timestamp was really when MS decided to push ms-sql CAL sales. Seems
that been
6 years now, and it hasn't stopped.
It's an interesting metric - to get to a table in sql server with vb thus
creating an ADO recordset, takes at least 14 lines o code.
The same concept in vfp is 3 lines of code.
Carrying it forward ? is same 3 lines of code to get to
mySql, postGreSql, syBase, Oracle, etc etc...
accessing a database with VB ? Is an oxymoronic adventure in coding, but
still - thats the 'approved' MS way - since it sells CAL's for its 'other'
database engine, Sql Server.
have fun !
mondo regards [Bill]
