    - Listbox bug? VFP 8, 9 in XP Pro Given a standard listbox with about 10 items shown and set to multiselect, should a click and drag within the listbox select the range of items overwhich the drag took place? It appears that this is the desired behavior, however, one or more items in the list always end up not selected after performing such a selection. It's almost as if an event or interrupt takes place during the drag and VFP does not register the items as selected when that interrupt was happening. Clicking the first desired item, then shift-clicking the last one works fine, but dragging a range of items is spotty.     - Where are Forms/Programs Called From? I often re-use code from one project to another, and when compiling the new program, it wants to find forms or programs from the original project. As an example, my new project doesn't use clientedit.scx, but when I compile the new program, it brings it in. How do I find where in the project specific forms and/or programs are being asked for?     - Report "Page x of y" Any easy way to get a report "Page x of y" value for "y" Old question and help plus internet searches still indicate that this is not an easy option. In the past, I have done this by outputting the entire report to a null port, collecting the highest _pageno value then using it to then immediately output the same to the printer. Any pointers?     - VFP 9: strtran() Optional Parms Suppose I have a string where I want to change all "abc" to "def". This is easy: thing="abcdefghiabcjkl" thing=strtran(thing,"abc","def") What if I want to have it be case-insensitive in the search so that thing="aBcdefghiABcjkl" would also result in two changes? The problem is that the flags parm controls case sensitivity, and I apparently have to specify all parms. thing=strtran(thing,"abc","def",,,1) does not work. I have to fill in the blanks as in thing=strtran(thing,"abc","def",1,n,1) where n is arbitrarily high. This is a kludge -- think large memos. Is there a way to avoid this? The police officer gave the comic a ticking off, even though you could see that this young copper sympathised with the comedian, and regarded the Tory as an upper-crust wanker. In this case I think it is 'high-ranking' police officers who are aware of the persecution, they know a complaint has been made, and they're doing nothing. What is more, I don't think there is anything I can do that would make them take action, both because they may be being 'leant on' and through the wider view that it could be deleterious to the state to have a persecution by state organs exposed. Perhaps you the reader might not know, but lots of people in the media etc do. Remember, I was born in the UK and lived there until a couple of years ago. I don't think these people would condone state-sponsored murder of someone who might be seen on a good day as one of their own. b) Rather than doind anything directly, they're going for spying, verbal harassment, media harassment, every form of persecution short of the physical. Because as soon as anything turns physical, the police become involved; and unless it turns physical, the police can shrug and say 'not our problem'. So they persecute you and try to get you to react, either by hitting one of them (in which case I clearly find myself in the wrong as far as the police are concerned), or by trying to harm myself (in which case they can pretend they weren't responsible). It's a pretty unproductive form of harassment actually, because if you don't react then they're wasting they're time. First of all, I'd like to ask you to believe that my phone line in my apartment is bugged, and has been for many months. I have moved a couple of times this year, but "they" have faithfully been on my trail. Anyway, let's suppose my phone line is bugged. Now, when I talk to my internet service provider, it's over a SLIP (now PPP) connection. So if you wanted to bug what was said, either you'd listen in over the line and have to decode the transmission, or you could go to the service provider (more difficult) and ask them to decode a particular user's connection. OK, so now they're listening to everything I do over my SLIP/PPP connection. A couple of months ago I was messing around with faking articles through nntp servers and through anonymous remailers. I chose a nice inconspicuous newsgroup for my little tests, something no-one would ever notice. Guess which newsgroup I chose??? Yes, _FISH_!!! or rec.aquaria to be precise And guess what articles I tried to post? Goldfish, Koi carp and, you'll never guess... PIRANHA!!! The goldfish article and the Koi went through, but the piranha didn';t appear. by now you probably think this is too silly for words. But if you look in the papers a few eeks ago you will find John Major, Tonny Blair and Paddy Ashdown sharing a "private joke" about Major's sunburnt goldfish. We haven't had anything about Koi yet (they must be too dull ). Now, sent by someone who clearly knew what they were doing (they chose an Italian backbone site for their launch point) we have many thousands of messages to people all over the globe. All about piranha, and with the punchline "that gives you something to think about, doesn't it?" The way it works is that they're trying to kill two birds with one stone again. That was something the people at work shouldn't have known about... but soon after a couple of people were talking right in front of me about, "yeah, I heard he was attacked". Again, one I went for a walk in some woods outside Oxford. The next day, at work, someone said "you know he went to the forest yesterday". I don't want to put details on usenet of what happened because to do so would be to risk it happening again. If you put ideas in peoples' heads then you can find them reflecting back at you, and I don't want that. Also I can't remember that much from three years ago. The first possibility (deep breath) is that someone from my college set me up. Six years ago I graduated from university in the UK, during the last year there I was steadily getting more and more ill. I know that I was talking in my sleep; although I don't know what I was saying, it got me a reputation, and if someone from my college talked afterwards to the "wrong" people then that could be the reason for all that has followed. I think that's the strongest contender for source. Directly beneath my room lived another bloke who frequently had his friends round late at night, after the time that I went to sleep. So they could have heard what I was saying in my sleep, and that could have got me the reputation for "talking to myself". What I don't know is why that should have rebounded a year after I left. You'd think it would have happened sooner; it's a bit odd to wait for a year and then start abuse. Turning on Event Tracking seems to indicate that the .T. assignment might be happening when the form's Paint() method is envoked during the form refresh. Yes, I know that a checkbox can easily be used in this case, but the interface calls for an optiongroup.     - winsock control tries to load vfp 9 installer...please help Hello and thanks in advance for the help. I have a project that uses the mswinsock control. A new and frustrating behavior has started occurring. After loading VFP when I go to modify the form with the winsock control on it, it begins trying to load the vfp 9 installer. I can cancel out of it and then the app will work fine (if you don't count the bugs I have yet to fix). Why is the winsock control being present making the ide try to load the vfp 9 installer? I have both VFP 7 and 9 on this machine. The project is being developed in 7 but I have made a test form and tried to load it in 9 and the problem happens there as well.     - How to convert arrow keys to tab/shift-tab in a grid I have a grid, and would like to set it so that the arrow keys cause the focus to move to the next/previous object in the tab order. In the keypress method, I watch for chr(4), and keyboard a chr(9). This works in the forward direction. However, I also watch for a chr(19), and keyboard a '{SHIFT+TAB}', but nothing happens. I can press shift-tab, and it works as expected, but programatically doing it seems to be ignored. I can't keyboard a chr(15), because this is also ctrl-o and causes the open dialog to appear. Up/down arrows works as expected. So - how can I trap a left arrow, and keyboard a shift-tab so that the focus moves to the previous object in the tab order?     - Vista + Pageframe + ActiveX control = problem I am trying to put the DBI ctGrid on a page in a pageframe that is not the page that is visible when the form loads. When I run the program the grid bleeds through and always shows. This gets fixed when I click on the corresponding page and then everything runs fine. Trying to open it, the message is 'not a table'
Trying to run validate recover I get a message to the effect that is is not
a table do I want to remove it
I am not give the option to just remove the link to the db and free the
table.
I suspect it is just the header of the dbf that is damaged .

Is there nay hope for it at all?

You don't mention what version you're using. If you're trying to open a
VFP table with FPW 2.6 you'll get that error.

Have a look at http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~NotATable~VFP for some ways
you can repair this table yourself.
