    - toolbar Using VFP 6, I use toolbar which is currently docked horizontally at the top LHS of the screen when forms are opened. I have two questions. 1. Because some buttons are inappropriate for some forms, the init for those forms calls a method in a class which makes those buttons visible property = .F.. In some cases, while this works OK otherwise, the toolbar is no longer horizontal but some buttons appear on a second line under others and I have to drag the toolbar manually to correct it. What causes this and how do I fix it ? 2. What I would really like is to have the toolbar docked centrally under each form which calls it. But as the forms are all different sizes this means that it needs to be in different places for different forms. Is there any way to achieve this ?     - "Hidden" files attached to a form? Hi, I created an exe w/VFP8(SP1) and sent it to a friend. When he ran it, he got several messages re. missing files. The exe ran OK after choosing "Ignore" for each file. There was no problem in my testing because I have those files. Most of the "missing" files were temporary files (012345678.dbf, etc) but some were dbf's on my system that he doesn't have or need. From what I can tell, the error messages come up when DO FORM is encountered and before any of my code in the form executes. The trace shows that the program stops at DO FORM and before READ EVENTS. I suspect the files may have been open when I created the exe and somehow, VFP assumed they were needed. They are not needed and are not in the project. My exe uses only free tables and the default database (i.e. I never specified a database). I was able to fix this by deleting all the files that were being called. I also made a slight change to the form so that it would get re-generated when I re-built the exe. But that's only a stop-gap solution since it seems it could happen every time I build an exe and I have no way to know what files might be needed until I distribute the exe and get feedback from others. That's not a good thing. I've only been using VFP8 for a short time but I don't think I've ever seen this in VFP6. What can I do to prevent this from happening in the future?     - Alternative to upsizing wizard I have a VFP database that has some "unusual" features in indexes and views, like some IIF's, PADR's, UPPER's, etc., that the upsizing wizard doesn't know what to do with. Since I'm new to SQL Server, I don't know what to do with them either. Anyone have suggestions? Should I just simplify the VFP database? I'm looking for an easy way to modify our database to automatically E-mail packing lists to a static E-mail address at one of our sister companies.     - global datasession It appears that even though Datasession 1 is called the "global data session" it is not actually global because when you are in another datasession you apparently can't access tables in datasession 1. Is that correct? Assuming it is correct, what would be the best way of having certain tables that you want to make available to all the forms in an application, even though these forms have private datasessions? The application I have is a school application that needs read access to student records from many different forms. I have standard procedures that have been opening up the student data files and reading from them when I need information, but the coverage profiler shows that this is a real performance killer. It would be much faster to have the tables open all the time for read access. I could simply open the tables when I start each form that needs access, but having a global instance of the tables would be quicker and more helpful.     - Grids on form with Private Datasession and 3 tier application Please could someone give me a pointer in the right direction on this please. I am developing a small application but I would like to stick with the 3 tier architecture if possible. My forms are modeless with private datasessions. The problem is, I would like to display a recordset in a grid on my form. The grid control will only allow a table/cursor as a record source so I need some way to get that recordset through the tiers. I have tried creating a cursoradapter but the cursor gets created in the default datasession instead of the private one. I am on the verge of just coding the data access straight into my grid control but that would break the 3 tier design. Is my best option ADO or another idea? If I use ADO is there a grid that will accept ADO as a recordset or do I have to convert it back to a cursor?     - Create Label generates C0000005 error I have a VFP8 SP1 application (compiled EXE) that generates a C00000005 error whenever I run "MODIFY LABEL XXX" or "CREATE LABEL XXX" (xxx does or does not exist - makes no difference).     - Any real speed advantage with dual Xeon processors? Hi, I'm looking for the fastest performance I can get on a networked VFP app. The server which holds the data is currently dual Xeon, lots of RAM, Win 2003 Server, 15K SCSI drives, 10/100BaseTX LAN. My current idea is to upgrade the server to 1000BaseTX, and buy a dual Xeon workstation, plenty of RAM, 1000BaseTX, 15K SCSI drives and XP Pro. The app only needs to work on the one workstation, and the server is simultaneously handling data for 50+ other workstations with lower performance requirements. The data is all free table - I can't use DBCs/stored procedures because of FPD apps sharing the data. Do the dual processors make a difference to workstation speed with VFP?     - Not enough memory message when joining source control project File -> Join source control project. This is a large project with several thousand files. VFP apparently does a get latest on the PJM file, builds a new PJX., and then does a get latest on everything in the PJX. When it finishes, I get "There is not enough memory to complete this operation". At the time this occurs, VFP is consuming 20MB physical memory, 10MB swap file, 209 GDI objects, and 2911 USER objects. This last entry concerns me, as 2911 USER objects is quite high and is probably why the error occurs. VFP will normally have less then 100. Historically, excessive USER or GDI usage is a result of poor programming, bugs, or memory leaks. I also think that this should work, even if it is using a lot of USER resources. Win2000/XP doesn't have the terminal USER or GDI limits that Win9x had, so I'm thinking that the problem here is internal to VFP. Also, it works for some of us, and not for others.     - Tables with buffering VFP 80 Sp1 XP My form allows the user to add a record. (In this case to the zip code table). I control my "Save" and "Undo" according to certain rules. If the user enters a zip code that is already in the table, I want to prevent the "Save" from enabling. However, on the LostFocus of the textbox for the zip code, I will automatically save the record when I seek that code. How do I determine if that zip code codes not already exist?     - _Screen.Image When an Image object is added to the _screen to show some picture or graphic and a user later runs a report in Preview mode, periodically the image object on the _screen, continues to show the report preview image even after the report preview has been released. It is as if the graphic image from the report preview window, overlays, changes or corrupts the PICTURE of the IMAGE object on the _screen.     - Sql Server Question Assuming I have a table stored in SQL server. What is the best technique advised as to searching for a particular record since the Seek command can not be used. The two options that comes to my mind is the Locate and the set filter command. If the particular field I am searching for has been defined in SQL server as being an index key, how can one perform a search that would not be considered sequestial and move the record pointer to the record desired as in the seek command.     - Cryptor IV fll file I can't seem to get a response from Xitech on the issue but they advertise the Cryptor IV is compatible with VFP 8 but there is not an fll for VFP8 included in my copy. Is there an fll for VFP8? And if so does anybody have it and can I get a copy. This should not be a problem as I can't use the fll without a legit copy of he rest and I have that and all. But it makes it a little hard to use the product in VFP8 without the fll since you have to have the proper version of the dll for each version of VFP that is supported.     - Complicated form with many search options Hello, I'm creating a form to manage serialized goods. The form shows data from 9 different tables. I also need to allow the user to search on a combination different parameters: Serial number Description GL Accounts Payment Due date Retail price Received Date AP Invoice # Categories They can search on as many or as few as they want. When faced with a form of this complexity, is it best to go with a CURSOR and update the records by hand, or is it best to use a view. The downside of the cursor is that it requires more work to commit the changes to the back end table. The advantage is that I have a lot more flexibility with my query statement. The downside of using a view is that I have to include all parameters in every search whether the user search on it or not. The advantage is that I can bind a view to the form itself and TABLEUPDATE() will handle the changes for me.     - Local View modification on a remote database I have a local view stored in a database which needs to be modified. Unfortunately the database is in a remote location and I have no access to it. My first thought was to write some code and let it run on the remote location to modify the view.     - Custom sized reports Hello; I have a situation where a client has started the process of upgrading workstations from Windows 98 to XP. Currently they are about 50% complete. The problem we are having is that custom sized report forms (ie cheques), do not print correctly from the XP stations (their alignment is off slightly, ie off millimeter for every page). The project is compiled under Windows 98. I see a few potential solutions. 1) recompile under XP - I am concerned that the 98 stations will have issues than, and currently, they are the critical stations. 2) do all special form printing from the 98 stations until the upgrade is complete and than recompile uner XP and adjust the forms as required. I do not like either of these options. I was wondering if anyone has seen this and knows of a work around. The version of Foxpro I am running is 5.0b. Any ideas are welcome.     - Referncing a table not in the current datasession Using VFP 8 --- Is there anyway to reference (or view in the VFP debugger) a table or object in a specific data session - without changing the datasession? The same table can be open in multiple datasessions, so we are trying to find a way -in code- to view information about a table, or an object, that is specific to one datasession. (VFP 8.0) I have been successful in re-creating the binary files for forms and classes, but whenever a report is being processed, there is an error in the following method "HexStr2BinStr". Hi,

I had to uninstall VFP8 in order to reinstall VFP6 and then VFP8 again...
however when I finished the Task pane Manager is showing this error message:
0: Class definition MSXML2.DOMDOCUMENT.4.0 is not found

this was not happening the first time I installed VFP8

I already have tried to uninstall both VFP6 and VFP8, and installeng thean
both agaon, but it did not fixed the problem, I also tried unsuccesfully
"Repairing " VFP8

I would appreciate any suggestion

Try installing the MSXML Parser 4. This can be downloaded from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=3144b72b-b4f2-46da-b4b6-c5d7485f2b42&displaylang=en

You need the MSXML.msi
