We use vfp8.
In the last few months we keep getting delayed write error messages. Data
will be lost. We have lots and lots of free space. Our system gets very
slow and after a few messages will freeze up and we must reboot the server.
Is there any known reason for this?
thanks

Delayed write error messages are system generated and usually means the hard
drive is defective, the network connection is unreliable, etc. This is not
the fault of VFP, but is a hardware failure in your network/server. Check
event logs, as these errors are logged and should tell you the device that
failed (hopefully).

In addition to the very good advice Matthew gave you, make sure you've
turned off write cacheing on the server. You may actually have to turn this
off frequently. Many times a Windows service pack will turn it back on. :-(
