    - Making a Control Sizeable ..     - dbf problem I get the following error when trying to add a field in a table by either doing a "modi stru" or the "alter table" command. "No update tables are specified. Use the tables property of the cursor object." This has happened after an abnormal shutdown. I have tried doing a tableupdate and tablerevert but that does not make a difference. Validate database command does not find anything wrong. I can alter existing fields with no problem, but can't add new ones. There are only 124 fields in the table.     - Print Business Cards as Labels I have a request to add business cards to a database. The client has a hand scanner that scans the cards and brings them in as .CDB files. He wants me to be able to print out these business cards like you would print out mailing labels. I have to find a way to convert these .CDB files to JPEG. What would be the best way to enter these cards into a database and print them out or can I just put them in a folder and print the business cards as labels from the folder??? DO I have to enter them into the database as each card will have a file name that is the phone number field name like 1234567890.JPG if I come up with a way to convert them to JPG.     - fonts in menus Hello! In VFP 9 it is possible to use fonts in menus with the new FONT parameter in the DEFINE PAD and DEFINE BAR commands. This is a great feature, but it doesn´t work. If I lokk into the VFP9 helpfile I find this text: "The FONT clause is ignored for menu titles added to the Visual FoxPro system menu _MSYSMENU. Note that the Menu Designer uses the Visual FoxPro system menu." How can I use the font feature? I thought I must use the _MSYSMENU! Thanks.     - "File is in use" - but I have a record lock! I got this error from one of my users. In the code below I am applying manual record locks, and I would assume that it would protect the code from another user attempting a header lock but they got a "File is in use" on the gather memo... This runs in a high speed environment and I cannot rely on the default Foxpro locking mechanisms.     - Rounded shapes on report not round I have a very strange situation. I have a report. I have rounded rectangle on report. I set curvature to 24. If I suspend the app and preview report, it previews with the rectangle square. If I preview the same report outside of the app, ie start VFP, open table, preview report, it looks rounded as expected. Something in the environment is causing this, but I have not yet found what.     - Alternative to ADIR() functions I am using the ADIR function to read the names of all picture files in a particular folder into an array. I then append the names in the array into a table. One of the users has more than 15000 files in their folder and get an error message when the program reaches the line of code containing the ADIR function. Does any one know an alternative way of getting file names into a table ? I have tried using RUN DIR >> X.TXT, but any file names greater than 8 characters are truncated. This doesn't happen when I actually use the DIR command in a DOS window. Commands like DIRECTORY and DISPLAY FILES, don't seem to create a file in a format that can be imported into a dbf.     - Displaing results in a window I can't use a report designer because fields positions needs to change in code, so I want to display the report in a window. Doing that, the results are overlaping regardless the windows dimmension (if the report is longer than the number of lines /screen, starts overlaping.).     - Mangled font in Foxpro I use the Terminal font in size 14 to get a nice and readable fixed pitch font sometimes, on some pc's the font gets screwed up , but it's only apparent in VFP. Using the terminal font in notepad for example it still displays correctly. anyone else has seen this problem or know how to fix it?.     - filtered records not shown correctly in a grid aftger grid has got focus Hi there, when calling the customers list function in my foxpro application I get all records from my MySQL database (customer's table) via ODBC. Then I call a form which has a grid controlling id an name fields of the customer table. A text field is used to filter records by name. If you enter something in that field, I am doing a SET FILTER to OCCURS(UPPER(thisform.searchword), UPPER(customer.name)) > 0 GO top in customer thisform.grid_wa.refresh() Everything works fine until the grid gets the focus after entering the search information. After getting the focus only one (instead of three found) record is shown, it is alwas the first one in the list. If I do a "thisform.grid_wa.setfocus()" instead of the refresh, nothing at all is shown. Doing a SET FILTER to OCCURS("Miller", UPPER(customer.name)) > 0 instead of using the thisform.serachword variable works without problem so I guess there is something wrong with the SET FILTER and using variables?     - VFP 9 - Chain reports? Can someone give me an idea as to what this really means? Maybe I should just state what it is that I'm trying to do, and see if VFP 9 will allow me to do it. I have several reports that make up a "final" report that we send to our customers. I've purchased FRX2ANY for VFP, and right now I run each report individually, outputting each to a separate PDF file. I then append each one where needed using Acrobat. Will the report "chaining" allow me to set it up so all reports "run", then are output to a PDF? Basically turning what now can be as many as 30 individual runs, into one? Thanks!     - Task manager Memory usage Dear all, I've got a small utility running which processes 1000s of records and a number of tables. This is kinda a scheduled task. Its been optimized over and over again... However, i've noticed taht the process runs faster when the application is right on top. I.e. the applicationo is the main app (which has focus). If how ever i give focus to another app, by opening note pad, or an email, or IE, then my VFP app process the information slower (i confirmed this by checking the number of records processed). Also, i found that the memory consumption in Task Manager goes up when my VPF app is on top, and when my VFP app is NOT visible then it goes down (hence slows). How can I hack this, and give priority to my VFP app, or give it more resources? Or is this something that the Windows OS will decide? (right now, it seems so).     - VFP 6.0 & ODBC As a part of a test, I try to access VFP Tables through ODBC. Here is what I do: o I create a System DSN using "Microsoft Visual ForPro Driver" 2.00.8167.00, VFPODBC.DLL o Set the Data Source Name as "mailw" o Set the Database Type as Visual FoxPro database (.DBC) o and the path as: "c:\MyApps\Mailw2000\mailw2000.dbc" Trying: SQLConnect("mailw") I get -1 (failure) If instead, I create the same as above, using "Free table directory" instead of .DBC and set the pasth to: "c:\MyApps\Mailw2000" SQLConnect("mailw") returns a conection handler. But truing to select data from existing table in the directory, I get -1 again. h=SQLConnect("mailw") ? SQLExec(h, 'Select * from Names') Can someone help me?     - Can't shutdown I have a VFP8 application that runs just as an icon in system tray. If the user picks the menu choice to shutdown program they can shutdown windows ok. But if the program is left running shutting down windows goes a little weird. After you press start then select shutdown, programs start shutting including this vfp8 app. No errors display but windows doesn't close. Checking task manager shows the vfp8 app isn't running any more. Press start then select shutdown a 2nd time and windows shuts down.     - Strange Form Behavior I have a process that a user goes through maybe 30 times a day. The steps are always the same. During the process the sequence goes through 4-5 forms being displayed and allowing keyboard entry before a report prints from each form. This happens at literally hundreds of locations with no problems and no issues. However, on all of the machines at one single location a strange thing happens. When the user goes to a form and the form displays, all of the fields will be accessible but the cursor dissappears. Clicking in any field on the form the user can type but the cursor is not visible. The strangest thing is that no matter what key the user presses on the keyboard, the (ctrl+F1) key is the result (a 'y' with the two umlauts on top of it) in all fields. Now, the titlebar of the form itself actually appears disabled, but the form is not disabled. The REALLY strange this is that if the user presses the windows key on the keyboard (which activates the startmenu in windows) and then clicks with the mouse on the titlebar of the form in Visual FoxPro, everything returns to normal and the titlebar is now dark, the keys work correctly in all fields, and the cursor is active. Once this problem occurs, it happens everytime until I delete the resource file and restart our app (or so it appears). All of the systems are new systems. Windows XP. 6 workstations. I have checked the power settings, desktop themes, resource files, other Visual FoxPro apps and their files, replaced the keyboard, etc. It will only happen at this site and then it is reproduced nonstop. Any ideas? Why does switching tasks to/from windows startmenu fix it? The form is the same form that has run for years (and called in the same sequence) by hundreds of users.     - text file edit and copy in VFP hello all, i have a text file that i use as the body of an email message. something like this.. tmessage=f:\...\...\message.txt .body=tmessage. works well. people want to add a line or two to the body. what i have found is that once they change the text file, it then changes it forever.. can i have a master tmessage.txt and after i email just copy it to the tmessage to ensure i always use it? and how can i do that with a txt file, copy replace etc fail. unless i am doing it wrong. which is possible.     - Can normal and italic text both be used in a control? Can a textbox or editbox display a mixture of font styles? For example, can it display a sentence like: "Leonardo da Vinci's <Mona Lisa> is the finest picture." ? where the material inside the brackets should display in italic. (The example would be clearer if I used HTML for this message, but I don't if this newsgroup would allow it.) Also, it would be ok if the material displays as boldface, or in a different color, or font, or even underlined - so long as it displays different from the normal text in which it is embedded. I found that the exported Excel spreadsheet's page break happened too
late (about 10 rows). If the Excel spreadsheet is to follow the Crystal
Report's pagination, its page layout has to be scaled to 85%.

Is there extra option in Crystal Report related to this?
