    - Foxpro and subversion Does anyone have any experience with committing FoxPro code to subversion? The problem I have ran into is that most of the FoxPro code files, except for .prg, are binary and unreadable as text files. So basically all the reasons to commit your code are gone if the repository can't compare line by line code and show you the differences. I found one solution here http://paulmcnett.com/scX.php, but it appears that nothing has been developed on it for quite sometime and it was never completely finished\tested.     - _memberdata I notice the memberdata editor won't write string above a certain length into the _memberdata property. I can type them in fairly easily, however, in the property sheet... so I'm wondering ... since there is an implied length limitation are there any gotcha's attached to entering by hand?     - Visual FoxPro and its future We are a pretty heavy Visual FoxPro shop. I understand that Microsoft is going to stop development and supporting Visual FoxPro. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Just wondering if there is anyone out there that has transitioned from Visual FoxPro to a ASP .NET environment and the best way to do that and if you would suggest the VB .NET route or the C .NET route. I think it would be easier to transfer to VB .NET. But I might be wrong. We are going to go to a ASP .NET environment...just wondering the best way to do that.     - SP2 update issue I'm trying to update to SP2, and it's asking for a folder/file named <x>\vfp9setup\vfpprod1\vs_setup.msi, where <x> is the location of the sp2 self-extracting exe.     - Grid Problem This is an annoyance more than a problem.... I have a grid that is used for display only....I have Grid.AllowCellSelection set OFF and Grid.HighlightStyle set to 2 to give the impression to the user that the grid is readonly. Everything is fine whilst I use the textbox control on each column As soon as I try and use an edit box, the contents of the underlying field 'shift' a few pixels down and to the right whenever I click that column. It's only a small cosmetic thing but I'm a stickler for detail and see no reason why it should do it..... I've disabled the editbox, put a return .f. in the when statement....and just about everything else I can think of but it make no difference. I wondered if anyone had any ideas?     - Can myApps ask MAPI to Press Send instead of ask the user to press it? Hi there, My application sends an e-mail thru MAPI. Problem is, the MAPI dialog box shows up, and the user would have to press Send to actually _send_ the mail. Anybody knows how to automate this? TIA, Willianto p.s.     - Calling .Net dll from Fox I don't know where to post this because it runs across 2 languages but here we go: I have a class "ImageProcessing.captcha" it works correctly on the development box but fails on the target machine. It fails on o = CREATEOBJECT("ImageProcessing.Captchas") Error message "OLE error code 0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified" There is no init code in the .Net class. The class was developed with VS2005 The class has been registered with regasm which returned with "Types registered successfully" The target machine has the 2.0 .Net framework installed. Any ideas?     - FoxPro 6 index problem (This is, in part, a continuation of my append - Urgent - very strange FoxPro 6 file corruption problem.) I've written a Dot Net 2.0 web app that reads and writes to FoxPro 6 dbf tables using OleDb. I've just discovered that my pc is running OleDb Version 8 while the server is running V9. The server is crashing on insert of records to a particular table, giving the error: Error building key for ndex "d:\foxproorderentry\oemail.cdx" tag "Dupkey". When I installed V9 on my own pc, the problem was duplicated. I've come across a reference that seems to refer to this at: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms971772(VS.80).aspx but I'm not sure I fully understand it. The Dupkey index itself is defined as: so+fon+fon_it+type+dwg+sub+DTOC(sub_date). Everything but sub_date is an ordinary character field. I should mention that up till now, all but so, fon, and fon_it have been empty fields. I have just completed a test in which I have supplied full length default values for all the fields. My main job is to keep the apps going but I have to do the hardware and networking stuff too. We are located in NY City. My question is: We have undertaken a new business area which requires quite a bit of new code. We may also have reached the point where I simply need another body to help with the non-coding stuff.     - Combobox in a grid I need some help. Right now i have a grid with 10 columns. All the columns are using "text" to display the information but I need to use a combobox in a column named "country".     - Text search & .zip files This is kind of OT, but I'm upgrading/maintaining a legacy vfp system which makes use of source files that are scattered throughout a large file server and which may be further hidden by the fact that they are kept in .zip files. (The existing sys actually unzips them prior to use and erases them afterwards.) The .zips moreover never use .zip as an extension.     - Urgent - very strange FoxPro 6 file corruption problem I'm having some very strange problems with FoxPro 6 dbf tables. I suspect my web app may be corrupting them (A Dot Net 2.0 web app accessing dbf tables is strange enough) but first I'd like to know if anyone can even put a name to this. My application can read the files, no problem. It's someone else's program that started complaining. The only thing that seems to be different is that when I open this problem file, the Reindex option is missing from the VFP6 Table menu. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?     - Append from "Excel File" TYPE XL8 give 1661 error if file saved from Excel 2007 I have an application that has been running for a while. It contains a number of different imports that bring in data from Excel sheets. The data is fairly simple 2 to 10 columns of data with one record in each row. It works fine if the data is saved from Excel 97 or Excel 2003, but if the data is saved As an XLS sheet from Excel 2007 the Append From fails with an error 1661. This happened even if a sheet that works fine that was created from Excel 2003 is opened in Excel 2007 and then saved as and XLS sheet. The XLS from Excel 2003 and 2007 are not exactly the same because the 2007 sheet is a few bytes larger than the original 2003 Excel sheet even if no changes are made to the file in Excel 2007. Is this a known problem? Is there a patch or work around available other than going back and converting the import from an APPEND From to Excel automation and scraping the data from the sheet one cell at a time?     - Form Disappears I am using VFP 9.0 SP1 and as I am in the development process of a Form I apparently edit the Form while it is still running in memory. After issuing a CLEAR ALL I attempt to edit the Form again and it is gone from the hard drive. However there are two files in the project folder 00002WAX00LR.TMP and 00002WAX00LS.TMP, which I assume are the SCX & SCT files. I rename the extensions and attempt to open the Form and nothing opens. I also attempted to open the actual form table to view its structure and I get the Memo file missing or corrupt error. How can I stop this from happening and how do I recover the Form? It is still "available" in the .app file since the form will display when I run the app. If there is no way to recover the Form is there any way to extract the code from the app file?     - Grid - Zero values I have a Grid on a form where the column is using the 'Z' format meaning that for numeric values, if the value is 0 then the column is displayed as a blank. Recently a requirement has emerged whereby a value of zero is a legitimate value in the grid.     - Very odd FoxPro 6 corruption problem I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight on this. I have a Dot Net 2.0 web app running on a server that reads and writes to a set of FoxPro 6 dbf tables using OleDb. Somehow the main file, the only one read during start up, has become corrupted. The message is: Memo file D:\FOXPROORDERENTRY\ord.FPT is missing or is invalid. Now the FoxPro experts where I work have given me some pointers on file recovery and I have tried reindexing among other things. However here is the weird part. I know the server web app works because it will work with the backup tables. I also have run the app on my development machine using the original 'corrupted' tables, but when I do that everything runs fine. In fact I am able to update the memo field of an existing record. But even after this, when I copied these same tables back to the server, the server-based app crashed again. (I suppose my worst fear is that this web app is somehow corrupting the table in some unknown fashion.     - Help with .cdx file Have a program in VFP 9 and want to user proof it. So my program determines whether the data has become corrupt (using error 2005) then deletes the table and the structural .cdx file, then using create table I recreate the data table and then I use the index command using the syntax index on whatever tag indexname. On the machine I am writing this on this works fine, but when I put it on my testing machine the index creation was .idx files as opposed to a .cdx file. I found a suggestion to use a backup of the .cdx file, copy it to the same name as the table and then immediately upon opening reindex but that does not appear to be working. I am thinking of implementing a registration system into a commercial VFP application that will connect to a server across the internet, pass some unique account details and then return an expiry date. many years ago there was a tool called FixFox. Don't know if it has been
updated. You might also try to search the downloadsection in the VFP-Area at
www.UniversalThread.com Just did a search on "corrupt" in the summary-field
which gave a few results.

Zoom may be looking for a free utility. There are some free dbf header
fixers but they only do very simple record counter fix. Even some low
priced flashy web advertized tools only repair trivial things. Zoom may
need to scan/repair invalid memo pointers.

FoxFix is still around and available from hallogram.com ($249) and from
foxfix.com. But they have not updated their utility to VFP9.

Our comprehensive Recover utility is up to latest VFP9 table structures
and the single user license is only $86 - with real tech support.
