    - printing in a dot matrix printer and receipt printer Hello, i am using VFP 7.0 on Windows XP Platform, i have 3 printer ports installed on the computer the LPT1 is a laser printer and is the default, the LPT2 is a Dot Matrix Printer Okidata MicroLine 320 Turbo and the LPT3 is an EPSON TM U220 Receipt Printer.     - Strange View Problem I have a view that works just fine and has 4 tables in it joined together. If I open it in the view designer, one table is missing(you can see the whole). If I do nothing to the view and just save it, it errors on the field in the missing table. If I add the table in, it errors on another field that was/is in the field list. After the error, I keep getting the error when I try to modify the view. I can't get it open. This is a very compicated view that I do not wish to recreate. Any ideas? As a work around, can I add a field to the view programmatically with dbsetprop() . The field is in a table that already exists in the view. Thanks for your help.     - VFP 6: Good Non-GUI Editor to Use The editor that I have been happily using for ages (WordStar 2000, since 1988) will not work on the new system that I am using. Apparently, it and Windows have issues. I want to find a suitable replacement. My most important criteria are: Non-GUI: Selected text does not work well for me for block operations as I frequently do find start of text, mark start of block, find end of text, mark end of block, perform block operation. I need to be able to search between defining the start and end of the block. Inexpensive: shareware, freeware, public domain, or the like. Configurable keys: This would be very useful though not mandatory. Failing this, the editor should use control key combinations rather than function keys.     - installshield for vfp; included files Since this is a special "VFP9" version of InstallShield, wouldn't you think it would include a project template for VFP9, rather than for VB and everything else we don't need? Also, how can I know what redistributables are required for my application? There's a long list of them, including eight separate ones named "Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9 Resource", plus three other VFP9 files. I know I need the runtime libraries, but what about the others? I need some of the C libraries too, I think, but I don't know which. Does anyone have this information? Is it documented anywhere?     - cursors not being deleted Using vfp8 on windows 2000 and xp. Alot but not all cursors are not being automatically deleted.I thought when the application closed the cursors would automatically be deleted. If I'm wrong, what should I do to correct the problem.     - How to get the Date portion of an SQLServer DateType field? I'm trying to import an SQLServer table into Visual FoxPro (I've also posted this in the SQLServer forum). I need to test the Date portion of a SQL Server DateTime field against a user-entered Date.     - Cursoradapter wheretype recommendation We currently have our cursoradapter class wheretype set to the default of 3 - KEY AND MODIFIED. On some files we are getting the error SQL statement too long. We know we can set SYS(3055) to get around this problem but were wondering if we really should be using a wheretype of 1 - KEY only when the table has a primary key value. Is Wheretype only used by the updatecmd method? What problems might we hit if we have this set to 1. We are a bit wary that we might upset something.     - How to get VFP based program out if Internet is disconnected? I have a client running my purely VFP based program in terminal service environment. Sometimes, they donâ??t get the program out properly for some reasons, say Internet connection. The program is still running in the server. I know if reboot the server, the program can be terminated.     - Problem with 'Snap To Grid' After Upgrade to VFP9 I just upgraded to VFP9 and now when working with all my existing forms, the designer tools and controls 'Snap to Grid' even though the I have the 'Snap to grid' box unchecked on the forms tab in the Options form. Additionally, I have set the Horizontal and Vertical spacings to 1 pixel each and the grid appears to be set at 12 regardless of what I have set it at.. With new forms, the cursor (mouse) does not snap to the grid. It only happens with the forms that existed prior to the VFP9 install. It is the beta version of VFP9 that I have installed. I can go back into VFP8 and do not have the problem. Has anybody else experienced this?     - Remote Automation using Visual Foxpro Hi... Is there anybody found a way to overcome the "RestrictRemoteClients" setting on Windows XP SP2 (of course without set it to 0) ? Other Development Environments? yes If yes which? Visual Studio .net 2003 Steps to Reproduce: 1) First create a database, and put a table in it, put some records in it. CREATE DATABASE ZOOT CREATE TABLE ZOOT (Z1 C(10), Z2 C(10), CHANGE T ) INSERT INTO ZOOT (Z1) VALUES ('ZOOT') 2) Set record validation Rule - we want this procedure in the DBC to execute when a record is changed: setchange() 3) Create stored procedure in DBC called SetChange: PROCEDURE setChange TRY IF glSetChange REPLACE CHANGE WITH DATETIME() ENDIF CATCH * WAIT WINDOW 'An error has occured' ENDTRY RETURN .T. ENDPROC 4) Run this code: USE ZOOT SET STEP ON REPLACE Z1 WITH 'NoZoot', Z2 WITH BadVarName Notice that glSetChange is uninitialized. This is by design. Notice that BadVarName is undefined. In order to reproduce this error, you need a two part REPLACE, and the first one (Z1 WITH 'NoZoot') must be valid, and the second one (Z2 WITH BadVarName) must be invalid IE have a runtime error such as uninitialized variable or invalid table/field name, etc. Observed Behavior: I step through the code via the above SET STEP because if you dont, sometimes VFP will just hard terminate, poof and it's gone. If you step through it, when you get to this line: TRY IF glSetChange You should get a c0000029. It varies according to the code in SetChange, but it will consistently crash. If I change the code slightly , I can get c0000005, c0000029. I also get MS VC++ Runtime Library error, Buffer overrun detected error. The code I posted above seems to consistently produce c0000029. This, for example, IF glSetChange .AND. 1 = 1 seems to produce a buffer overrun warning, other variations produce a mismatched push/pop type of message. Expected Behavior: A trappable VFP error should be generated, not a hard crash. Additional Information: I can get a crash in VFP7 by using this code in SetChange: PROCEDURE setChange ON ERROR llZOOT = .T. IF glSetChange REPLACE CHANGE WITH DATETIME() ENDIF ON ERROR RETURN .T. ENDPROC Since VFP7 does not support TRY/CATCH, I use traditional error trapping instead. In VFP9 the same process generates a c0000005 error.     - gibberish when printing in landscape VFP9 I have a very simple report, no calculations, no variables. Just simple fields. No report listeners. If I have paper orientation set to landscape and reportbehavior set to 90, the report is filled with gibberish. If portrait mode or reportbehavior is 80, it works fine.     - printers Hello, I am wondering if anyone else who has created full applications in FoxPro has come up with the dilemma of how many possible ways can an envelope be fed through a printer. I am the programmer of a billing software built in Visual FoxPro. I have a feature where people can print envelopes addressed to their clients. I have a report strategicly built so that the return address and clients address are placed in the positions where once an envlope is fed there envelope comes out correct. There are three different types of HP printers at the office that I can take into account, but what about the other brands? Is there a proceedure I can use that can give me how the specific invoice takes in envelopes? Or do I have to figure out all possible ways an envelope can be fed through a printer? A very useful feature! But new to VFP9, if the value is a string, what's shown does not include the string delimiters, ie quotation marks. In this app, the database consists solely of a connection and remote views, and is located in a subfolder of the project folder called data\. The database is included in the build. Forms are built with the data\ database in their data environment. At runtime, I open the database (no path, because it's included). I was concerned that the forms would not be able to locate their data, since the data\ folder does not exist at this time (I renamed the original to prevent confusion). Yet the forms seem to work fine. Can anyone elucidate? Is this behavior documented?     - Update Word links Hi foxpro experts, Once again I turn to you for some advise :) I have some Word documents that have linked objects, something like this : {LINK Word.Document.8 X:\\Path\Document.doc \a \f O \p}. Word stores a path to there objects, but once I copy them to a new place, the path is broken, and you have to update them. You can do this by hand ofcourse, but I would like to do it from Foxpro. I found a forum that where someone was able to make a macro to solve this issue, but I don't know enough about macro's to turn it into Foxpro code. I know how to go through "Story's" in Word, but not how to update the fields in there. The test program below selects the appropriate record, creates the class and calls a method. However the code from the record that was selected the first time is executed - the .fxp appears to be in memory. If user B leaves the record directly after the modifing everything works just fine. But if user B don´t leave the specific record - user A can´t see the modification. I want to programatically control whether the Summary will be available in
the report or not.
Currently if i try to do so, i get a blank page in the summary (but i don't
even want a blank page).

Any ideas?
