I need to be able to connect to a remote instance of SQL Server using an
application role rather than a user login. Can anyone help with the
connection string?

Hi Paul:

Have you looked at this article to see if the code is useful?

I hope this helps.

Hey, that's great. Not quite everything I need there, but it gets me in the
right direction. Thanks!

It seems to be possible to use application roles only with SPT and not to
create a connection for remote views. Is that correct?

Hi Paul:

I am glad that helped. We don't have much on using app roles from SQL
Server in VFP. The issue simply does not come up much.

I have not worked with app roles very much. Therefore, I am now sure of
all their capabilities. Maybe someone else a tried this and can answer for
experience. If no one here has used them, I would post the question in the
VFP forum of www.universalthread.com.

I hope this helps.
