For some operations, SourceAnyWhere can be up to 40+ times faster than other five products. Stability: SourceAnyWhere never has any problem in the whole test. SourceOffSite has several problems when it comes to stability. The big problem of SourceOffSite is cancel. There is no cancel support in IDE integration. After a cancel operation in Add, Checkin, Checkout or Get in SourceOffSite Explorer, the CPU usage of SourceOffSite server goes up to almost 100% and can not come down, unless the server is restarted. VSS Connect and SourceXT also have problems in stability. On big file operations, they are very possible to crash. But both two have a good handling of Cancel. And, VSS crashes every time when I try adding a special directory such as "c:\" and "My Computer". VSS Remoting has difficulty to add file and it fails to operate on big files. VSS.NET has problems in big file operation during the whole test. And it cannot handle the Cancel operations. Security: What makes SourceAnyWhere unique is the password policy. SourceAnyWhere, SourceOffSite and VSS Connect use 128-bit cryptography. SourceOffSite and SourceAnyWhere use BlowFish. . VSS Remoting uses HTTPS. VSS Feature Support: Most of the six products support ordinary VSS features such as Add, Get, Checkin, Checkout and so on. First, the pinned file can still be checked out by Client, which is a great danger to the pinned file. Second, when performing a get, the most recent version will be got, not the pinned version. This can probably cause version confusion. SourceAnyWhere has a "Server-base time zone offset" option, others don't. In my opinion, it is very important to synchronize Server time and Client time. Imagine this, the Server time is 10 hours ahead of Client time. When you edit a file and check it in at 2/23 9:00PM (Client time), but on the Server side, time of this version reads 2/24 7:00AM. So in the future when you need to get version of 2/23 9:00PM actually, you may mistakenly get another version. Usability: SAW is the best. All the Windows of SAW is in Win32 style. It can detect if a file is changed automatically. Diff/Merge In File Diff (2-way)/File Merge (3-way), SourceAnyWhere and SourceOffSite run neck and neck; VSS Remoting has a low performance IDE Integration: SourceAnyWhere, SourceOffSite and VSS Remoting all support MSSCCI Integration.     - VCX not found Hi everyone, I am facing a strange problem. In my application, I make extensive use of Visual and non Visual classes. The software is working fine in the Development environment [VFP8]. But in the generated EXE, I get the error message "Error Instantiating class. d:\shrdbms\instal\vcx\shcustom.vcx not found!"     - Utility to extract/print all enumerations? I am writing a VFP8 application and am automating a third-party application that offers a COM interface. Unfortunately, the company that wrote this third-party application does not have a list of the enumerations used in their system. As a result, I can only determine enumeration values by using the VB object browser. This is very tediuous. Is there a tool around that can extract and print all of the enumerations in a COM server? I know this could probably be programmed using TLBINF32.DLL, but I was hoping a freeware tool already existed that can just be given the name of the COM server to dump all of the enumerations and their values.     - VFP and Active Directory Hi, Is there any way to programatically change the AD. I specifically want to change the profile location and home directory paths for about 60 users.     - Add Method Problem I am having something wierd going on in VFP 9. I have a formset and go to form -> new method to create a method. I type in the name "testMethod" and hit add. This then adds the method to the currently active form in my formset, and not to the formset. I can go into the form.testMethod and add code to it. When I save and close out of the formset and then go back in, the method does not show up under the form nor does it show up under the formset. My workaround is to go to edit property method in the menu and then do add method there. Then everything works fine. Is anybody else having this same issue? P.S.     - Landscape reports Hi. In one of my applications I have a couple of Landscape reports. I send these reports to the windows spooler. Sending characters strings and using SET PRINT FONT. To do this, I test PRTINFO(1) = 0. If true,= SYS(1037) to allow the user to switch the landscape mode. Couple of problems with this technique. One, the user might not switch to landscape. Two, that print device stays in landscape mode until he switches back or exits FoxPro. Question. Is there a way my code could switch the print device back and forth from landscape mode?     - VFP7 view with uncommitted changes - weird behaviour I have a situation, reproducable very occasionally but not consistently, where a requery after tableupdate fails with uncommited changes. I've looked at the view cursor in Debug and it looks really strange. This is the scenario (code that creates the view is below). The view is of a child table and has a filter in place equal to the id of the parent table. The view is in item number order. Add 5 records (items 1 to 5) to the view, delete the 3rd one (causes item 4 and 5 to resequence to item 3 and 4) and then save. Save scans the file (with set deleted off) and issues a tableupdate on each record. The subsequent requery sometimes fails. Browsing the cursor shows why it has failed but I can't see a reason for the cursor being in the state it is in! Debug says these are 8 records. Browsing displays 5. 2 records belonging to the previous header even though there is a filter in place so I don't know why these are showing. The 2nd item of the added items does not display. After setting the filter off and setting deleted off, 6 records display, the same 5 as above plus the deleted one. I then set the order off and 8 records then appeared. The 8th record was full of zeroes and characters that look like a thick letter I in some of the fields. Where this came from I have no idea. I have no idea where to go from this point as it seems to be VFP7 doing something outwith my control. Has anyone had this kind of problem before? Thanks for any help. It happens if the field below is of type memo and the corespondending .fpt file is quite large (10M).     - Excel automation I'm getting an "Unknown COM status error" on the second line of code below (owb is an Excel Workbook object). This works fine in the development environment, but not on the end user deployment. I'm guessing that VFP being installed might help. Does anyone know what I need to install to make this work? I have never got this, myself but the client sometimes reports strange image titles included with the image.     - VFP9 report anomalies with picture I'm adding a gif picture to a VFP9 report (REPORTBEHAVIOR = 80, non-GDI+). I don't know whether this matters, but it's a label printer, 1" x 3", landscape mode. 1. When I tap the arrow keys to move the picture, it shrinks instead of moving, as if it were moving only the left or top sides. 2. When I double-click the object to edit the properties manually, the path to the picture gets corrupted. For example, if the path is c:\folder\mypic.gif it gets changed to c:\folder\folder\mypic.gif Anyone else seen this, or is my computer going crazy? I am attempting to copy out an SDF file for BULK INSERT into SQL. I need only a subset of fields, so I am using the FIELDS x,x,x parameter, and this seems to throw FoxPro's Integer column conversion into a bit of a tailspin. I haven't been able to reproduce either of these outside of the tables i'm using, so I'm not sure if the field types, field names, integer values, table size, or what is causing the change in conversion. During this migration process, I will use the existing XBase++ tables with cdx indexes. Does anyone have any recommendations or any data recommendations during this migration. I seem to have random index problems. The problem will not be there and then it shows up. I then delete the index file and reindex with the XBase++ software and the VFP9 software will still show the error. I then open the free table and the index in VFP9 and then issue reindex (This is done without trying to browse the table). All is cured. The table is still accessable from XBase++ software and VFP9 software. Anybody know what is going on here and what I need to start doing in order to make this work?     - Keypress event F2 works in VFP6 but not VFP7 onwards I am converting an application from VFP6 to VFP9 and have discovered an issue that I hope someone can help with. I am trying to capture the F2 key being pressed within a textbox on a form in the keypress event (nKeyCode=-1). This would not work in VFP9 so after trying many things I built a basic form with one text control and a capture of the key press events to screen. It appears that in VFP6 the textbox keypress event happily tells me that F2 has been pressed, however in VFP7 onwards it appears that the F2 is not captured and nothing happens. The ON KEY LABEL is not active and F3, F4 etc are all working e.g. nKeyCode=-2, nKeyCode=-3 etc. This happens only with F2 (nKeyCode=-1). Does anyone know why? Is there something I am missing? The build was unable to extract COM information from the file <my dll file> in component <my dll file>.
