    - Determing if a table exists; if so, then open I want to determine if a table exists. If the table does exist, I want to USE it. Otherwise, I don't want to do anything. I thought there was something like... IF EXISTS(mytable) USE mytable in 0 ELSE * Do nothing. ENDIF ...But I cannot find a function like "EXISTS()." Thanks very much for any help.     - VFP remote views to sequel 2005 tables Just starting out trying to move VFP data to Sequel System written in VFP9 using Remote Views of 2 Sequel 2005 tables. 12 machines work fine, 3 hang when trying to open a parameterised view. They open the connection to Sequel database OK. Opens view of Sequel data OK gets stuck on opening parameterised view. I guess it must be after a parameter, but I'm sure its there. last log entry is "use vRegisteredForSaleIn" from OpenUpdateableView, cFactFundCode is reported as blank from this procedure. Any suggestions as to what to do next would be greatly appreciated. I've reloaded latest MDAC just in case that was the cause.     - Mouse droppings Hey folks, Anyone seen this? Comments? Suggestions? Form has pageframe with 3 pages, 2nd page has 2 containers with 2 listboxes ("mover" type u/i) When first run, activate page 2 and the mouse will not select in any of the lists. (Keyboard selection is fine.) Activate page 3 and come back to page 2 and all is fine. This is in a form that hasn't changed in 6 years.     - CursorAdapter, MySQL - View definition has been changed. I have created my first program using CursorAdapters and a native VFP9 database and it works great. I am now trying to convert it to use MySQL. I keep getting the message "View definition has changed" when refreshing my CursorAdapters. I am not sure what is causing this error.     - multiple databases Hi all, I have an aplication wich should be able to open databases located in different drives and directories. When i developed the application I used one database in the local harddrive. Once installed the application, it should be able to open the other databases. Which command should I use?? I tried SET default to j:\myapp\data and set path to j:\myapp\data and open database j:\myapp\data\inventoriesA "inventoriesA" is the name of the database But it still opens the database I used to develop the application.     - moving a vfp database Hi all, I have created a VFP 8.0 database and tested and application that use it. Now I want to move to another directory the database. I copied all the data files, index files, database file to that directory and looks something is wrong. open database k:\control\data\mydatabase validate I got an error " k:\control\data\mydatabase.dbc is an invalid database" What is wrong?? or what should I do to move a database to another directory?     - JPEG display in Image control using STRTOFILE() Table name: pics Field Memo(binary): pict I saved a JPEG file to a memo(binary) field with the following code: mbpict=filetostr("c:\pictures\xxxx.jpg") sele pics append blank replace pict with mbpict I have a form with a grid displaying other info from the table pics.dbf. As I move through each record in the grid I want to display the jpg saved to a memo(binary) field with filetostr(). I've gone to the AfterRowColumnChange in the Grid and added the following code: STRTOFILE(pics.pict,"temp.jpg") thisform.image1.PictureVal="temp.jpg" thisform.refresh Nothing displays. Once I get it to display I have another issue that I believe I can use to append multiple jpg's to a table. Originally I was appending to a general field but I've noticed most have suggested saving it to a memo(binary). That sounds better since you can't display a JPG in an Image control (only the name). If I could I might keep the use of the general field. I use GETDIR() to locate the pictures I want to pull in. I save them in a general field. If I'm going to save them in a memo(binary) field what would the code be? Below is the code to append to the general field.     - Heartfelt Thanks to Everyone Would like to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who helped me get restarted over the last couple of weeks. Today was a watershed day for me where most of the pieces began to work and provided some time to run traces and better understand the philosophy behind the different engine. I now have a very complex (for me) form up and running using vfp vs 2.x approaches which is already far beyond the app I have been asked to replace.     - Slow speed opening tables Is thre any way of speeding up the speed of opening a table on a 2nd workstation? If I use table X on one workstation it opens fast but if I open the same table on a 2nd workstation, it take 3 times longer to open. This is not the case on the server where it opens the same whether it is the first or 2nd station to open the file. I don' know the reason but I did a small mod to the code and removed the deactivate code from the read and it works! I actually now have been able to compile two small plug-ins for my main application and they work! This is giving me the courage to tackle the main app and a very important and rather large plug-in. Both make use of the Append General command that caused me trouble in FPW2.6 on XP and is a must-work for me. I have no idea what this will mean in coding effort but I am going to try. I have been using the debugger with break points and stepping through when I find a problem. Has using the event tracking with a file been a help to you? I'll try it on the next stumble.     - Cheque Printing Hello: Revising the cheque printing routine in VFP 6. It will be cheque/stub/stub. I have the cheque itself in the header and it is fine. The first stub is the detail band of the report and is set up in 3 columns and prints the invoice nbr and amount - up to 45 items. It too is fine. I would like the bottom stub, the footer or the report, to also be in three columns and list the 45 items in the same manner as the detail band. It seems that I can't set up columns in the footer of the report. The only way I can think of doing it is to pre-process the invoice items and write them to an array then write the array formatted to a memo field/text box or something and print the text box in the footer of the report. The grid is set to ReadOnly since it is used just for display and to move the record pointer as the user clicks on the desired record. The only visual problem I have is that there seems to be no way to get rid of the dark blue border that appears around the selected textbox. I've looked for a color setting for this so I can set it to the same color as the row highlight color or a logical setting that turns it off, but I don't see anything.     - Publisher Could Not be Verified. I have a user that has 10 Work Stations connected in a local area net in a peer to peer configurations, Windows XP. I have three VFP8 programs installed on one station that the other 9 use as a server. 8 of the workstations can run all 3 of the VFP applications with no problems. I have the applications mapped from the workstations to the so called server. Each time the one workstation tries to run any one of the VFP8 applications a message first comes up "The publisher could not be verified". I have inspected all the security checks and have all that I could find unchecked as to having to check for publisher. I just can not find any more checks to check. As anyone run into this problem?? Anyway you all are more than likely to tell me to go to XP user group. I have done this and have not had much help. If I cannot find the XP problem can anyone advise me how I can maybe add something to the VFP8 compiler to maybe put my publisher name on it. Thanks for any help.     - ANSI vs Unicode text files - problems importing Hello, I receive a text file (csv) from a client, to be imported into a foxpro 6 table. The file has french characters (accents), and the file sent by the client is a unicode encoded file. If I try to import it into FoxPro, the file is basically not recognized - the text is garbage, all loaded into the first field... If I load the file up in Notepad and save it as ANSI encoding, I can import it just fine into FoxPro. I have no issues loading the original file into Access - it recognizes the fields, I can see the accents, etc. Any idea why the Unicode encoded file will not work? Is there a foxpro upgrade / update that solves this issue? (If I save the Ansi file - which works - as Unicode, I get the same issue... The problem is to get the program to wait until a of text is processed before reading the next one. I am trying to put the DBI ctGrid on a page in a pageframe that is not
the page that is visible when the form loads. When I run the program
the grid bleeds through and always shows. This gets fixed when I
click on the corresponding page and then everything runs fine. I have
also noticed this problem with MS's date/time picker. Has anyone else
had any problems with this and are there any workarounds? I have
tried setting the visible property to false until the page is
activated and that doesn't seem to work. I have also tried having the
second page activated on loading and then programaticaly changing it
after loading but that doesn't work either. Any idea if this will be
fixed in VFP 9 SP2?

developers,
won't guarantee that the FoxTeam at MicroSoft will review it.
