    - VFP7 Multi-user View problems We are using some views in our system for combining files for using in a grid. When 2 users are inputting data on these forms, each user cannot see the other user's added records until they exit the screen and come back in. Is there a way of forcing the view to refresh from the server data? I don't really want to close it and reopen it as this may slow things down.     - Setup Wizard for exe files. I have been using the setup wizard in VFP6 to make up the installation CD to install applications.     - Overlaying a .wmf or other graphic over a .frx report Does any know how I can overlay a graphic file over a .frx report? This is what I want to do: I have a number of 81/2 X 11 forms (for example, export documents) that I want to generate from my Foxpro program. I have done this in Delphi by overlaying a .wmf on a report file and printing them both. This method generates a very professional looking form and is very useful in placing and aligning the data fields. However, because of the way VFP reports are generated (Header/Body/Footer/)inserting a full page graphic and overlaying the data fields seems impossible.     - Odd VFP6 behavior in XP Just noticed this oddity developing in VFP6 SP5 in XP Pro. Could be a video driver issue, but it only happens in VFP6, not in VFP8... Open a form for editing. Double click a control that has a resonably long chunk of method code in it. Select that method - the scroll bar in the edit window must be displayed. Click and drag the scroll bar a bit and DON'T RELEASE THE MOUSE. Keep the mouse button down, but keep the mouse still. In my system, after about 6 seconds, all of the windows in the VFP IDE go blank and stay blank until the mouse button is released. Thankfully the same thing does not happen in a VFP app at runtime. After I compile and execute the program, an error message jumps out and said "Operator and Operand do not match!" (It may not exactly the message like this!)     - Double Ampersand in Pull Down VFP8 I have a drop down control that is being populated by a field from a table. In one of the records the field being displayed has an ampersand in the text. When you pull down the list it displays two ampersands and not just the one that is in the field. e.g. The field text is: Barnes & Noble The pull down list displays: Barnes && Noble.     - Printing memory and OT: Tracker PDF-Xchange Hi all, I've had memory issues nagging me for some time now on printing large volumes of VFP reports. What I've got is a billing program that spins through a few thousand customers and prints one or two copies of their bills--always one in PDF format the other (printed in about 2/3 of the cases) a postscript file. These bills consist of usually between three and six different formats (one frx each) with occassional bills having ten or even 15 different formats. So in the course of an entire run, it will probably run 15-25,000 REPORT FORM commands. As it runs, the MEM usage (from the Task Manager's Performance tab) continues to climb. However, if I do all the other processing, skipping the printing portions, the MEM usage change is negligible. My guess is the issue is more in printing when drivers are needed as we used to report to ASCII from frx's and never had these problems. I think I've got the most up-to-date drivers installed (Win2K Pro machine, HP5 printer/Acrobat 6.0 writer) and the app is currently running under VFP7. Upgrading it to V8 is a possibility, but in some short tests this morning, I've been seeing similar memory problems. Does anyone know of other places I might want to look or am I pretty much stuck trying to keep drivers as current as possible and keep setting stop-points and rebooting? Somewhat related: has anyone used Tracker Software's PDF-Xchange for printing w/ VFP. We're considering it as a replacement for Adobe's driver. The reviews I've found are few, but positive.     - Error Refreshing the page Hi guys, I got an invoice screen where I can do a search and print invoice. Today I add in another form for the print function to allow the user to select the type of invoice format(Select Print) to use. However, after the user view and print the invoice and close the current form(Select Print) and return to the invoice form, the search function can't work at all and also the data on the screen is not refresh. Another thing to take note is that, things return normal after I exit from the screen and select the form again from the menu bar. Any idea?     - Automation with Firewalls and Antivirus Protection. For the third time I have run into the same problem using automation to start up Word Applications. The first time it was Norton Antivirus. The second and third time it has been Firewalls. Has anybody else found the same problem and if so how do you overcome it. I have a client that has his system so protected with Firewalls and Antivirus protection that I cannot get and Automation to start up a Word Application to work all the time. In fact I have one machine that I have removed all the virus and Firewalls and still cannot get automation to work. It seems that the Virus or Firewalls on this work station has stopped the automation completely. I have even reinstalled Windows 98 Second and still can not get it to work.     - VFP6 SP5- unattended mode causes error when running a report The statement : report form myReport for &cFilter to file (cFile) ASCII causes an error "User-interface operation not allowed at this time" Tried everything under the sun to fix it but once I removed the statement sys(2335,0) the problem was gone and the report performs as expected. The COM server is being run as an out-of-process .exe server. I did eventually find the KB article: Q191639 but it seemed to be referring to in-process servers.     - Overstrike mode When I started using VFP 8, I almost immediately ran into a problem with Overstrike mode getting turned on by magic. This never happened in VFP7. I'll be typing and for some reason Overstrike mode is turned on and what I type starts replacing what is on the screen (I always work in Insert mode). The weird thing is that the OVR text does not display in the status bar as it normally would. If I hit the Insert key, I go back to Insert mode and there is still nothing displayed in the status bar (which is correct at that point, of course). This happens fairly frequently. I probably haven't gone a day without it happening unless I just wasn't at the computer that much that day. If I accidently got into Overstrike mode in VFP 7, it was always because I fat fingered the Insert key and I knew it had been my fault (and the OVR text appeared in the status bar).     - How to check out if the Fox table has needed indices? Hello all! I have a problem (and it's vital) which is have to be solved asap. I whould be very glad to receive any advice! So, there are a set of DBF tables and CDX indices. The DB is supposed to be changed frequently but there's no warranty that all indices will be correct (but in my instance of the DB they're OK). I would like to write a program in C# (the key moment is that not in VFP language) that will check for each table that it has the correct set of indices (more specifically - the correct fields are indexed).     - Sending report to fax Hi, I am attempting to Fax a Visual Foxpro report by sending it to the printer, where the print device is set to the Microsoft Fax Driver. The problem I have is that the left margin when faxing is less than when I send it to the a printer and hence part of the report is being chopped off. I have tried sending a Word document to the fax and get the same problem, which suggests that the problem is perhaps outwith FoxPro. I have also tried sending to a different fax. Any ideas?     - Needed delays for Automation start Word on Network I have a .exe application running on a network that calls up Microsoft word and opens a .DOC file. It works fine from the server but when I go to anyone of the desktops and run the program from their it starts up Word OK but it will not bring in the doc file. The doc files are on the server along with the application. I found out that if I put in a 5 second wait Word will open up the application. The following code is what I am using. It seems to me that there has to be a better way to start Word at one of the desktops and then open up a doc file that is on the server but I can not seem to find it. Any help for this OOPS dummy would be nice. By the way I run this from a form named TARGET that has a button called PHOTOS which runs this procedure. I had to stick in the timeout 5 delay but it seems to be a long time for 5 seconds to go by.     - Useful Tip... to check whether a field exists Form time to time we need to have code behave in different ways depending on the version of a database table. Often this code is dependent on the table containing a field of a cernation name. You can use the type function to determine whether a field exists or not. eg. lcType=TYPE("MyTable.MyField") If MyTable is open and MyField exists lcType will contain the type of the field "C=Character" etc. If it does not exist or the table is closed lcType will have the value of "U" (undefined). Also works to determine whether memory variables exist or are in scope. You can use VARTYPE(MyTable.MyField) (note no quotes) but this causes an error if the field does not exist or is not in scope.     - _PageNo in Reports In VFP7 I have set up some fields in a report that only show on the first page. I used the _PageNo=1 as the condition. Problem is, that in the header of the report, _PageNo does not seem to change until the end of page two, causing the information to print on page 1, page 2 but then go away on page three.     - SQL Problem I have an SQL statement that there is nothing wrong with. I copied from my code and ran it in my command window (I took out the into Array at the end) and I ran it. This command blink my form's controls. - The second one is in transparency of the gif, it stay opaque. - The third one is into the caption's method. I need to supply an old FPW2.6 application but add software protection. I
have got Protection Plus from Software Key, and am having difficulty getting
it to work using the KEYFOXW.FLL.

I know it's old stuff but is there anybody who can guide me through the
process of providing a 30-day demo which can then be unlocked to full
version?
