    - Can't shutdown I have a VFP8 application that runs just as an icon in system tray. If the user picks the menu choice to shutdown program they can shutdown windows ok. But if the program is left running shutting down windows goes a little weird. After you press start then select shutdown, programs start shutting including this vfp8 app. No errors display but windows doesn't close. Checking task manager shows the vfp8 app isn't running any more. Press start then select shutdown a 2nd time and windows shuts down.     - Strange Form Behavior I have a process that a user goes through maybe 30 times a day. The steps are always the same. During the process the sequence goes through 4-5 forms being displayed and allowing keyboard entry before a report prints from each form. This happens at literally hundreds of locations with no problems and no issues. However, on all of the machines at one single location a strange thing happens. When the user goes to a form and the form displays, all of the fields will be accessible but the cursor dissappears. Clicking in any field on the form the user can type but the cursor is not visible. The strangest thing is that no matter what key the user presses on the keyboard, the (ctrl+F1) key is the result (a 'y' with the two umlauts on top of it) in all fields. Now, the titlebar of the form itself actually appears disabled, but the form is not disabled. The REALLY strange this is that if the user presses the windows key on the keyboard (which activates the startmenu in windows) and then clicks with the mouse on the titlebar of the form in Visual FoxPro, everything returns to normal and the titlebar is now dark, the keys work correctly in all fields, and the cursor is active. Once this problem occurs, it happens everytime until I delete the resource file and restart our app (or so it appears). All of the systems are new systems. Windows XP. 6 workstations. I have checked the power settings, desktop themes, resource files, other Visual FoxPro apps and their files, replaced the keyboard, etc. It will only happen at this site and then it is reproduced nonstop. Any ideas? Why does switching tasks to/from windows startmenu fix it? The form is the same form that has run for years (and called in the same sequence) by hundreds of users.     - text file edit and copy in VFP hello all, i have a text file that i use as the body of an email message. something like this.. tmessage=f:\...\...\message.txt .body=tmessage. works well. people want to add a line or two to the body. what i have found is that once they change the text file, it then changes it forever.. can i have a master tmessage.txt and after i email just copy it to the tmessage to ensure i always use it? and how can i do that with a txt file, copy replace etc fail. unless i am doing it wrong. which is possible.     - Can normal and italic text both be used in a control? Can a textbox or editbox display a mixture of font styles? For example, can it display a sentence like: "Leonardo da Vinci's <Mona Lisa> is the finest picture." ? where the material inside the brackets should display in italic.     - Append general - error in the DLL To print a data field derived .jpg file, the following code has worked well in the past but now produces an OLE error code 0x800401f9: Error in the DLL. create cursor PHOTO ( entry G ) append blank append general entry from &photopath\&orignam..jpg where photopath and orignam are path and filename for the JPEG file to be printed with other text and graphics in a report.     - Create Connection error trap Currently I use the following code to create a connection to SQL create connection conName; datasource alltrim(odbcName); userid alltrim(SqlUser); password alltrim(SqlPassword) The problem is that when the conneciton fails a dialogue is displayed. What I want is for it to loop and try again a set number of times. I read the docs for create connection but see no way of getting it to return a value based on success or failure.     - Multiple Detail Band problem in compiled exe Hi all, I thought I had this problem all fixed up, but I discovered earlier today that I still have a problem with multiple bands starting on a new page. I recieved the patch from Microsoft that fixes the glitch. And at the time I only tried running the report through foxpro. However when I compile as an exe and run the report I get the same error as before with only 1 record from the child table appearing if it is the first band on a new page. I am wondering if anyone else is also having this problem when running an exe. I have searched to see if I have extra copies of the replaced files kicking around, but haven't found any.     - Report dataenvironment error Before using a data environemnt class, If I referenced a table not open in the rpeort I would get an error - Alias XXXX not found. It was then easy to add the table to the report environment. If I have a report that uses the dataenvironment class and I have the same situation as above, it give me error Alias OBJECTS not found.     - Dataenviironment class in reports I have a VFP executible running a report that has a dataenvironment class within it. The normal function is that each time the report runs, the data environment is refreshed from the dataenvirnonment class the form is linked to. This is fine but my runtime executible seems to be looking for a VCX in the runtime directory rather than pulling the dataenvironment class out of my executible. What can I do about this. I thought maybe I could pass a tlexclusive parameter to determine the exclusiveness. I have controls that are linked to tables (if these control's init event fires before the table is open, an error is generated). Here's my question, if parameters can only be passed to the form's init event, and the controls are initialized before the form; is there a way, based on a parameter to open tables in the dataenvironment exclusively or non-exclusively and before the controls init events get fired. I have an app with a third party TCPIP library that sometimes gets into a bad state. I can detect this state and have the program exit but I would like to have a "Supervisor" program running on a timer which can periodically check to see if the app is running and start it if it isn't.     - Running SQL Views from VFP9 Does anyone have an example of how to run a predefined SQL view from VFP?     - "USE" commands in Visual Foxpro Hi All, This is Sam. I'm new to Visual Foxpro. I'm now having troubles about sharing .exe file and seeking for any professional help from all of you. I have developed a system and now expecting to share my compiled .exe file(inventory.exe) to other computers. My system are placed in computer "A" and logon to it, and using B computer to try access into same system in "A" computer. It generated an error message "Invalid operation of reading files". The system was closed after hit "cancel". I debugged and found an error message was from using the word "USE". I often use "select 1" (workarea) and "use sysid"(open table "sysid"). I already placed the command "SET EXCLUSIVE OFF" in Main Program and the first command of each form designer "init()". I had also tried "use sysid shared" it still doesn't work.     - iSeries Connection I need to talk to an iSeries and have setup an ODBC connection and connect in the following way: ConnHandle = SQLStringConnect('DSN=iSeriesODBC;UID=&myUserID;PWD=&myPassword') While this does work well 99% of the time, once in a while I see the iSeries Logon Screen and once this screen appears I can only kill the foxpro application. There is a Cancel button on the iSeries screen, but it never works. The iSeries ODBC is setup with a specific UserID and to never prompt for SQLConnect. Is there any way to trap for this situation and not have to tell users to kill the application. Anyone have any ideas on why this happens?? This code will functionally highlight and give you quick searching (Typeahead) on your combobox items as you type. The only problem is when I put it in a grid, I can no longer use .SelStart because it and .SelLength are always set to 0. Any idea of why a grid would behave different than a form? In a form both character set must be displayed. I had tried several changes
in Control Panel -regional configuration and language but I could show them
in a VFP form.

On the other way, Can I programmatically change this regional configuration?

You need unicode to do that. Foxpro doesn't have native contros to
accept input of unicode.
