Hi All,

I have this reporting scenario where by I have one master table and 2 detail
tables. I tried to use multiple band but encountered a problem when the
records of 2nd detail tables overflow to second page. Somewhat one of the
record of 2nd detail table is missing. I do not understand why.

Does multiple band works on relationship of one to many detail tables or it
works on one-many-many? Also is there anyway to pagebreak once all records in
1st detail is printed and start 2nd detail table in a new page?

Hi All,

Checked the support website and discovered that there is a hotfix available
for this problem. But somehow I need to call them or email them for the fix.
Hmm.. very frustrating but what to do?

Lee, I have the hotfix, and I don't believe it fixes this exact issue. The
hotfix is specifically for when a detail band starts at the top of the page.
In this case, only the first record appears. His description sounds like the
detal band continues to the second page and then drops records, but I don't
think English is his native tongue and he may not have described it
accurately.

Is there another hotfix for his issue? We are using multiple detail bands
for a large complex mission critical report, and it would be *extremely* bad
if what is happening to him happened to us.

Being a hotfix, it probably hasn't gone through extensive regression testing
and therefore represents a high risk of destabilizing your app. Though to be
honest I too don't know why they don't make them available to the public
with appropriate disclaimers.

The VFP9 report writer isn't bad for a first version, but being a first
release it's also buggy as hell. We came real close to scrapping it. If
there is a VFP10, I would bet that the report writer in that version is
going to be a lot smoother.

That helps. In that case, either he didn't describe his problem very well,
or the hotfix won't help - or - the hotfix does more then they say it will.

Legal liability, I'd imagine.

They said they needed to keep track, and that's all I needed to know.

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion and let me explain it properly. The 2nd detail band
I am doing only show one record per page so to say the first record always
start at the top of the the page. However when preview, it shows only one
record although there are more than one records in it. The hoxfix explains
the problem and I think it will fix the issue. I have not initiated the
support but I will soon.

Do note that this problem occurred in 2nd detail band only.

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for the information and I am from Singapore. It is just a setback in
a sense because the new report engine is what we were looking forward to. We
are programmers and we know it is hard to get a bug free system in the first
go but with the staff strength of Microsoft and years of development such bug
should not passed the quality controls.

I mean it is true that one should not use a new version until the first
service pack is released for each product? But take into credit of the great
improvement in the reporting engine... okay. We skipped VFoxpro v8 completely
as v9 was out before we could implement it.
