    - Mouse droppings Hey folks, Anyone seen this? Comments? Suggestions? Form has pageframe with 3 pages, 2nd page has 2 containers with 2 listboxes ("mover" type u/i) When first run, activate page 2 and the mouse will not select in any of the lists. (Keyboard selection is fine.) Activate page 3 and come back to page 2 and all is fine. This is in a form that hasn't changed in 6 years.     - CursorAdapter, MySQL - View definition has been changed. I have created my first program using CursorAdapters and a native VFP9 database and it works great. I am now trying to convert it to use MySQL. I keep getting the message "View definition has changed" when refreshing my CursorAdapters. I am not sure what is causing this error.     - multiple databases Hi all, I have an aplication wich should be able to open databases located in different drives and directories. When i developed the application I used one database in the local harddrive. Once installed the application, it should be able to open the other databases. Which command should I use?? I tried SET default to j:\myapp\data and set path to j:\myapp\data and open database j:\myapp\data\inventoriesA "inventoriesA" is the name of the database But it still opens the database I used to develop the application.     - moving a vfp database Hi all, I have created a VFP 8.0 database and tested and application that use it. Now I want to move to another directory the database. I copied all the data files, index files, database file to that directory and looks something is wrong. open database k:\control\data\mydatabase validate I got an error " k:\control\data\mydatabase.dbc is an invalid database" What is wrong?? or what should I do to move a database to another directory?     - JPEG display in Image control using STRTOFILE() Table name: pics Field Memo(binary): pict I saved a JPEG file to a memo(binary) field with the following code: mbpict=filetostr("c:\pictures\xxxx.jpg") sele pics append blank replace pict with mbpict I have a form with a grid displaying other info from the table pics.dbf. As I move through each record in the grid I want to display the jpg saved to a memo(binary) field with filetostr(). I've gone to the AfterRowColumnChange in the Grid and added the following code: STRTOFILE(pics.pict,"temp.jpg") thisform.image1.PictureVal="temp.jpg" thisform.refresh Nothing displays. Once I get it to display I have another issue that I believe I can use to append multiple jpg's to a table. Originally I was appending to a general field but I've noticed most have suggested saving it to a memo(binary). That sounds better since you can't display a JPG in an Image control (only the name). If I could I might keep the use of the general field. I use GETDIR() to locate the pictures I want to pull in. I save them in a general field. If I'm going to save them in a memo(binary) field what would the code be? Below is the code to append to the general field.     - Heartfelt Thanks to Everyone Would like to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who helped me get restarted over the last couple of weeks. Today was a watershed day for me where most of the pieces began to work and provided some time to run traces and better understand the philosophy behind the different engine. I now have a very complex (for me) form up and running using vfp vs 2.x approaches which is already far beyond the app I have been asked to replace. While I am not completely out of the woods yet, can finally assume that I might actually understand the new (to me) approaches to Fox coding. Thanks again for your patience and encouragement.     - REPLACE ALL using vfp 9.1 on xp sp2 under certain conditions I want to replace the contents of a field for all records in a table the command REPLACE ALL fieldA with "B" results in only one replacement if the order is set to an index with a filter. If I issue SET ORDER TO immediatelt preceding the replace it reacts as I would expect. I can't find any documentation of this behavior. Am I missing something?     - Automating IE 7 I found some code on the web that I'm trying to get to work but it's not, and this is a new area for me. I'm trying to get an IE 7 web page, e.g. www.dell.com or whatever you like, to refresh periodically, e.g., every hour. objExplorer = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") This works, and if I make it visible, I see it, but objExplorer.Navigate = "http://www.dell.com" doesn't work. My situation is complicated by the fact that the user has to login to see the page he wants automatically refreshed, but I'd like to at least understand how to get the basics of this to work.     - Slow speed opening tables Is thre any way of speeding up the speed of opening a table on a 2nd workstation? If I use table X on one workstation it opens fast but if I open the same table on a 2nd workstation, it take 3 times longer to open. This is not the case on the server where it opens the same whether it is the first or 2nd station to open the file.     - Renaming Objects Using "Grid" as an example, it seems as if it will be better to name the column elements, at least to get started, with more descriptive names, but, as far as I can determine, it's a bear to do so via the interface. Is there an easier way to rename all of these other than to go through the properties screens one by one? If not, is there a way to get to a specific properties field quicker that mousing it? related question 1 Since the object names cascade... what is recommended on naming the elements of a column other than to reflect fieldnames?     - Grid record position question Plodding right along, I have an almost working form which contains a grid. I have the grid column headers setting the order in the header click event. however... If the selected row is at the top of the grid window, the selected row remains on the same record when the header is clicked ...but, if the currently selected row is lower in the grid window, clicking the header relocates the pointer to another record... help! Will data be corrupted or screens fail to work as intended? We need to make a judgement about whether to move to vfp9 sp2 or not - given that the life expectancy of the app my still be another 5 or so years. We have a large client base and upgrading each site to vfp9 runtimes will be a major undertaking. I don' know the reason but I did a small mod to the code and removed the deactivate code from the read and it works! I actually now have been able to compile two small plug-ins for my main application and they work! This is giving me the courage to tackle the main app and a very important and rather large plug-in. Both make use of the Append General command that caused me trouble in FPW2.6 on XP and is a must-work for me. I have no idea what this will mean in coding effort but I am going to try. I have been using the debugger with break points and stepping through when I find a problem. Has using the event tracking with a file been a help to you? I'll try it on the next stumble. Thanks very much for your offer for me to contact you with future problems - I'm sure there will be many. I am doing this effort alone and sometimes it is a help just to talk to someone.     - vfp SLOW OPENING TABLES FOR 2ND USER I have a client with a very fast WIN2K3 server SP1 When 1st workstation (WinXP SP2) starts, it opens tables very fast. When 2nd workstation (WinXP SP2) starts, it is very slow opening the tables. If I switch the order of starting, still the 1st is fast and the 2nd is slow.     - Cheque Printing Hello: Revising the cheque printing routine in VFP 6. It will be cheque/stub/stub. I have the cheque itself in the header and it is fine. The first stub is the detail band of the report and is set up in 3 columns and prints the invoice nbr and amount - up to 45 items. It too is fine. I would like the bottom stub, the footer or the report, to also be in three columns and list the 45 items in the same manner as the detail band. It seems that I can't set up columns in the footer of the report. The only way I can think of doing it is to pre-process the invoice items and write them to an array then write the array formatted to a memo field/text box or something and print the text box in the footer of the report.     - Any way to get rid of textbox outline in grid? VFP8 in XP Pro I have a standard grid with Themes set to .F. I have set the grid to highlight the current row with persistence. The grid is set to ReadOnly since it is used just for display and to move the record pointer as the user clicks on the desired record. The only visual problem I have is that there seems to be no way to get rid of the dark blue border that appears around the selected textbox. I've looked for a color setting for this so I can set it to the same color as the row highlight color or a logical setting that turns it off, but I don't see anything.     - Publisher Could Not be Verified. I have a user that has 10 Work Stations connected in a local area net in a peer to peer configurations, Windows XP. I have three VFP8 programs installed on one station that the other 9 use as a server. 8 of the workstations can run all 3 of the VFP applications with no problems. I have the applications mapped from the workstations to the so called server. Each time the one workstation tries to run any one of the VFP8 applications a message first comes up "The publisher could not be verified". I have inspected all the security checks and have all that I could find unchecked as to having to check for publisher. I just can not find any more checks to check. As anyone run into this problem?? Anyway you all are more than likely to tell me to go to XP user group. I have done this and have not had much help. If I cannot find the XP problem can anyone advise me how I can maybe add something to the VFP8 compiler to maybe put my publisher name on it. Thanks for any help.     - ANSI vs Unicode text files - problems importing Hello, I receive a text file (csv) from a client, to be imported into a foxpro 6 table. The file has french characters (accents), and the file sent by the client is a unicode encoded file. If I try to import it into FoxPro, the file is basically not recognized - the text is garbage, all loaded into the first field... If I load the file up in Notepad and save it as ANSI encoding, I can import it just fine into FoxPro. I have no issues loading the original file into Access - it recognizes the fields, I can see the accents, etc. Any idea why the Unicode encoded file will not work? Is there a foxpro upgrade / update that solves this issue? (If I save the Ansi file - which works - as Unicode, I get the same issue...     - threads I have a loop (vfp9) where a line of text is loaded from a text file, two forms are opened in sequence to process the line of text, and when the second window is closed, the program needs to process the next line of text. The problem is to get the program to wait until a of text is processed before reading the next one. I haven't been able to get the modal property to work on any form using any of the ways that can be done. Not form properties, not .show(x), etc. Besides, I don't think using modal forms will work in this case, since there are two forms, and it really doesn't make sense to combine them.     - Faxtiff object Hi, I've tried the fax newsgroups, but no response, which is not surprising. Since I'm using Foxpro for this, I'm hoping someone here could help or might have something already in Foxpro. Here's my problem: I am having incompatibility problems using the FaxTiff object to get the fax properties of tif files. Windows XP/Visa computer cannot read the Faxtiff properties of tif files created with Windows 2000 fax, and visa versa. For example, FaxTiff.ReceiveTime returns "Unavailable" in Windows XP/Visa when the tif file was created in Windows 2000 fax. Same thing happens when using Windows 2000 to read tif files created in Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server. It works fine using the same operating system that created the tif file. However, for backwards (and forward) compatibility, I need to be able to read the properties of tif files regardless of the operating system used and the one that created it. Any ideas on how to get both versions of the Faxtiff object to work side by side? Or better yet, anyone know of a native way to read properties from tif files? Any help will be greatly appreciated.     - Attemping to convert a FPW26 prog to VFP9 Hi, I have an old FPW2.6a application that (mostly) still works in XPsp2 but a critical part is problematic - working some times and not others. So, besides trying to find a workaround in FPW26, I thought I would take a look at trying to port to VFP9. I want to create a working application without any new VFP additions - just get it all working. So far I have only worked on some small plug-in progs to my main program to see how it goes. I am trying to use the VFP9 converter to run the program as is using the functional conversion technique. Many things do not convert directly which is time wasting but one problem I have not figured out how to defeat (I'm really not experienced in VFP). Once a program is converted and run (only one or two forms and several progs), the form becomes blank as soon as the mouse cursor touches a button or other control. After the form is blank, the controls can be seen again by passing the mouse over them but any text or anything else on the form remains gone. There are limited properties that can be adjusted after a functional conversion and I have not been able to change any that prevent this problem. Anyone done a functional conversion from FPW? Can anyone suggest what might be the reason for this strange action, how to avoid it or point to a place that gives help in conversions? I have looked all over the Internet and found a few articles but none are any good for resolving problems. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.
