    - _ShellExecute Error 5? I have one user (XP SP2) of an application that gets a return value of 5 from shellexecute. The program is attempting to run an "FDF" file. The file association appears to be okay. In fact if I click on the selected file it open in Acrobat Reader as expected. The documentation for shellexecute mentions the following: 2 = Bad Association (for example, invalid URL) 29 = Failure to load application 30 = Application is busy 31 = No application association No mention of 5.     - textbox date format I have picked my brain to bits and I can't figure this out. Maybe someone can help me. There is a grid and underneath this grid there is a textbox that is called txtSearch. So users type the word they are searching for and hit Seek. Now when you have ordered the grid by last name the txtSearch is fine. When you click on the Date column, the txtSearch now has / / indicating a date format. When you hit on the Last name column one more time, the / / do not disappear. I can not get it to. Do you know where this formatting is set and why I can't get rid of the two forward slashes? I just want to be able to say something like txtSearch.Clear or something. Thanks in Advance.     - Put Object on _Screen in front In VFP 8, I created a container class and added it to the screen with _screen.AddObject to use it as a Status Bar. But it is possible to drag VFP windows over it. In the Original VFP-Status Bar you can't. So my question: Is it possible to put the container in Front ? To let it works in windows you can youse Hyperteminal and set the incomming port to com3. To use it in notepad you have to youse the accessibility from windows and set the serial port to com3. on this way he works like a wedge scanner. the data from the scanner is than in QWERTY but in belgium we all work with AZERTY (this is could be a bug in windows). is it possible to use the scanner in fox using the com3 using MScomm. The BeforeNavigate2 event fires fine for any links I place in the HTML - but posting a form with a submit button will not fire it. I have been able to put an HTML form button with an onclick() that navigates (and fires the event), but I want to use submit so the same HTML works in both VFP and in a C++ environment too.     - Problem with SELECT [alias] I have a screen which has a list of calls and actions, listed by the latest date. Each 'call' can be handled alone or I can create an 'action' related to this call. I use 4 tables in a database. 'Calls' which may have a bunch of 'Call_Interventions', and 'Actions' which may also have a bunch of 'Action_Interventions' (both have a SET RELATION). So, from that screen, I click on an action ID and I open another screen which list the details on that action and a list of interventions, if there are any. This works fine. For the call, I have the same process. I click on a call ID and this should open the call details screen with a series of interventions done by the operator. I do a 'SELECT Calls' but the 'select' curiously stays on the 'Actions' database. I placed a bunch of 'SELECT Calls' in the calling screen, in the Init, in the function that refreshes some specific area of the screen, but it stays on 'Actions'. Curiously, the Call data is OK but I have all the call interventions instead of only those related to this call. By looking at the Data Session, I see that both relations are still in effect. Actually, if I click on 'Calls' manually, it works. It works also when I run it in Debug/trace... strange and frustrating. Can you help? (I hope I am clear enough...)     - SQL Update in VFP7.0? I've got two tables, identical structures, and want to update rows in the first from matching but "later" (ie edited later) rows in the second. I'd like to do it "properly", ie with SQL and not just one row at a time. The help vaguely implies that I might be able to do this ("subqueries are supported" it says). I'm trying to do something like : UPDATE FirstTable SET <all the fields using corresponding fields in the second table> WHERE (SELECT * from SecondTable WHERE <id fields match>) which VFP tells me is an illegal use of the subquery.     - - How do I rename print-to-file filename at runtime? I am trying to convert a bunch of different format files (.jpg/.pdf/.doc) to .pcl (print-to-file) in a batch procedure. I've used shellexecute to open the files (with an associated application) and then send them to a printer that is set up to print to a particular file name (myprint.pcl). In particular, The printer is configured to a particular file name local port (c:\print_files\myprint.pcl) so that, if anything is sent to this printer, the output is redirected to this particular file (not the printer itself). The problem with this is that myprint.pcl is overwritten every time a new file is being sent for printing. How can I get this resolved i.e. how can I rename the default file name (myprint.pcl to say my_batch_file_name.pcl) at runtime before printing to it? Ideally, I would be looking for an API that would allow me to control this parameter (read-write) at runtime and, of course, a sample would be highly desirable.     - Data problem I have an application created with VFP6 and is now upgraded to VFP7 that uses data which was originally created in Access then imported into VF6. The data is then manipulated (in VFP6) then sent to me to test with the application. The application was nearly bug free. We had been testing it for a little over a month. Once I entered the new data all sorts of bugs arose. It was as if we never debugged it. Certain code stopped working and needs to be re-written, etc. Some were valid bugs that just never displayed regardless of the machine it was put on, but with the new data it finally displays. Most of the issues were data saving issues. I'm only given a few days for turn-around for data testing. How can I prevent this massive breakage? Will VFP9 help? I read that strange things may happen if using one version of VFP to create the tables and another to use the data.     - Combobox in a grid problem Hi all, I use VFP 9, in VFP 8 this problem didn't exist. In earlier postings we determined that this behavior is a bug, but I want to see if any one found a fix or a way to work around the problem. Here is the problem If you put a grid on a form (or on a page of a pageframe), and insert a combobox control in one of the columns and change the CurrentControl property to point to the ComboBox, the following will happen: 1- if the Combobox control style is set to 0 (dropdowncombo), the Combobox will only show the first 8 characters of the field 2- if the Combobox control style is set to 2 (dropdownlist), it will show the entire field. However, in both instances, the control doesn't refresh when you click on it and select an item. nothing appears in the combobox till after you move to a different column or a different record. My suggestion is to try it keeping this in mind: the combobox point to a field in a related table.     - SourceSafe issues continued Right, let's continue this topic because I'm still not clear on a few issues. Our "build master" updated the master project (PJM) in VSS. We have a dozen developers that need to update their project. How do they do this? "Joining the project" is what we do because it is the only way we know how. It is very slow and causes the user doing so to check out the PJM, preventing anyone else from doing this. User A "joins" project. VSS automatically checks out the PJM to this person. This is just not right. User A does not need the PJM, and VSS should not check it out to them. User B, C, D....J all want to do the same, but no one else can because you can't "join" the project if the PJM is checked out to someone else. When this happens, it takes all morning for everyone to get the most current project because they have to do it one at a time. We can't "update project", because overwrites the PJM with old project settings. Update Project goes from local VFP to VSS, and we want to go from VSS to VFP. Getting latest does not update the PJT/PJX, and without an updated PJT/PJX you cannot truely get latest from within VFP. Getting latest simply gets latest version of files project is aware of. We've been going back and forth, back and forth, and the tech leads want to get rid of the PJM and just store the PJX/PJT in sourcesafe because (from their perspective) the VSS/VFP interface is such a kluge.     - bug: Method code disappearing? I just moved all my products up to VFP 9 (from VFP 8). I have noticed that occasionally in newly added controls, the method code I write gets deleted. This appears to happen only in newly added controls when I rebuild the executable. Every line of code I write is wiped out, however, all property settings remain unchanged. When I go back and fix the code, everything works great. Until, bingo. It happens again. I created a linked server to vfp from SQL server. I have no problem
querying records with one exception. I can't seem to filter out deleted
records. I'm using the VFP 8 Oledb driver.
