    - A 800 * 550 report doesn't work under Win 2000 Hi VFP Gurus: What Should I do in order to get to work my older reports which I designed with VFP 6 under Win 98, I use to set custom size paper to 800 * 550, and the job wad done fine. Now I use VFP 8 under WinXP or W2K and suddenly, all my reports eject the entire page so the cashier has to form feed the paper and get it back on line When using Win98 and custom size paper, this did not happen, the receipt stopped after the print, the cashier just cut it off and all fine, no eject, no form feeds, no pressing any buttons on the printer now, they do..     - How to calculate balance in the query (like the one in the bank account statement)? Hello all, I am creating a form that shows the debt, credit, and balance column (similar to that of appear in the bank account statement). While I can easily retrieve the debt and credit column, I don't have any choice but to SCAN-ENDSCAN the cursor to calculate the balance column. The code is something like this: lnBalance = 0 SELECT tmpCurAccount SCAN lnBalance = lnBalance + debt - credit REPLACE balance WITH lnBalance ENDSCAN Actually, I don't mind do that. The cursor is relatively small, and the no performance hits at all, but since the cursor tmpCurAccount was send from MS SQL Server thru an SPT, I wonder if there is any way that I could include the balance calculation in the query (or is it better/faster to let VFP do this by herself instead of ask MSSQL Server to do that)? Hi all, I want to download a table from the SQL Server to VFP 8 using SQLEXEC(). when I download some tabels I'm getting the error "File C:\Document and setting\Admin~1\Locals~1\temp\f0W4002v.tmp is too large.     - Project manager doesn't keep track of changed files I upgraded an FPW project to VFP8. I have to manually delete the fxp's when changing the prg's, because the project manager isn't paying attention to the fact that I changed them. I completely threw away the project file and built a new one from scratch, yet the problem persists. I opened the project as a dbf and cleared all the time stamps and object code. The problem persists. Code pages have been assigned, the project has been packed and rebuilt, yet whenever I change a prg (opening it from the project manager), the old fpx still gets called. The fxp's are in the same directory as the prg's. If I choose Compile from the Program menu, it works properly, but I shouldn't have to do that. If I dimension the array before the select statement, then the statement only fills up the array to the size that the array was dimensioned. If I don't dimension the array, then the compiler gives me a warning. Is there any way I can either dimension the array first and have all results put in, or not get a compiler warning?     - inconsistant grid behavour Hi, I have a grid with 3 columns (code,description,group) and a producttable with 3 ordertags (code,description,group). when the user clicks on one of the headers the similar named order is selected. So when the user clicks on the first header (code) the order is changed to the code. when the user press the tabkey the same behaviour is performed. the weird thing is that the activerow and the current recordno. somehow doesn't behave the same when the activerow is 1 and when the activerow is somewhere below row 1. When the activerow is 1, the grid behaves like it should be : the currentrecord and the activerow stays the same and the order is altered upon the usersactions and the grid refresh well : I mean the record and the activerow stay the same and the rest changes upon the order that is selected. So it's very easy for the user to look up some code. but when the activerow is somewhere else, the records moves around whitout any clue. the record in the activerow changes when the order is changed ! and this is very confusing for the user. for example when he search in the table a portion of a produktkode, and then changes the order to description to go on search in this order, the record in the activerow changes to something he wasn't looking for. Many developers provide some means of automation to lodge business documents (quotes, orders, statements, purchase orders, job authorisations and so on). The tools available to developers have progressed over time in a disparate fashion, with little or no coherence across platforms. These tools include:- MAPI, SIMPLE MAPI, CDO 1.0 though 1.21, CDO for windows 2000, CDO for exchange server .... Whilst there are many third party solutions available, these solutions, in the main, tend to be "tunnelled" to the product developers needs. What is needed is a coherent mechanism with intelligible documentation that does not require excessive effort to implement and provides the following basic features:- - allow e-mail to be sent on any platform without specific coding for any particular platform ie it should work the same on exchange server as outlook express - cater for all aspects of e-mail from simple text messages to html documents to documents with embedded attachments such a logo graphics. - It should also accommodate e-mail enabled programs through the implementation of technologies such as XML The documentation should at a minimum include a functional overview of each feature and all its properties, events and methods that is not specific to any development language, accompanied by walk throughs for all developer tools (including VFP) that demonstrate the full use of this facility.     - Excluding a FXP file from build I have a program where I want to make some custom code but only in small parts so I created a FoxPro compiled program and excluded it from the build. Then I will send this file with the executable and it will be different for every person. I am having the problem though, that foxpro is trying to include it in the build. I have a line in one of my forms to say SET PROCEDURE TO '.\progs\Custom.fxp' And this causes FoxPro to include it into the exe even though I have it marked as excluded.     - Need help with Regular expressions Hi, I'm looking for a way to use regular expressions in a .prg to match and then extract a portion of a field. I've been through the docs and have a rough idea how to construct a pattern (emphasis on rough), but do not know how to invoke regular expressions from within a program nor return a match - I can only test and get back a T/F response. For my pattern I got as far as the following: loRegExp.pattern = "# ?(/?\D|[0-9]{0,3})" The pattern I am looking for: - Begins with # - May or may not follow with a space - Followed by at least 1 digit - Contains either a / followed by one digit _OR_ up to 3 more digits Some things I'd like to add to the pattern, but can't figure out how to, are: - Exclude strings that contain a digit(s) followed by a dash followed by another digit(s) i.e. #2-4 or #50-100 etc. - Include decimal values like #1.5, #22.8, #500.5 (up to 3 digits, a decimal, and followed by only a single digit) This may be best illustrated with sample data: Acceptable (and returning .T. with current pattern): #1 (Optional space after the # is ok) #12 (Optional space after the # is ok) #123 (Optional space after the # is ok) #1234 (Optional space after the # is ok) #1/2 (Optional space after the # is ok) # 1/2 ...etc #2.5 (Would like this to pass, but don't know how - xxx.x) Unacceptable (but still returning .T. with my current pattern) #1/345 #45/1 #22.44 #11-12 I only want to accept fractions when both the numerator and denominator are single digits i.e. 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 etc. Not sure where I went wrong, but hey, I'm a newbie at regex.     - FoxPro is a frustrating and very user unfriendly Have been working with FoxPro for three years now and i've come to the conclusion the whole thing should be put behind big steel bars. There are several things: 1 Error messages are cryptic and don't give you enough information, for example: error loading file, record X.....Parent .... object class is invalid (in this case the object class is a f(*&king standard form!) 2 There are days I have more than 10 fatal errors 3 Programming OOP in fox is not the way it should be 4 Help file doesn't have merely enough samples of the explained functions, especially for newbees 5 Vartypes of parameters of Foxpro functions are inconsequently (should I use quotes or not????) 6 Wizards are nice, never seen someone using them, once you build something there is few modifing about the files 7 There is too much old stuff in there (yes for backward comp.... anyway, it is the way) 8 Regular problems with keeping the interface as you left it (fox 7) 9 Breakpoints, once in a while ghost breakpoints haunt me. There is no dot but placing a breakpoint somewhere in proc b cause the program to halt at the ghost breakpoint (moving the function is the only solution). 10 out of nowhere my sct files become corrupt 11 intellisense is not half as good as in some java environments.     - Formatting a string for proper calculation Hi All, I have a string where I store some values that will be EVALUATE() later for proper calculation, but I found that in order to get the correct result the string should be properly formatted with parenthesis, here is an example: x = [30.00 + 36.00 * 0.1800] ?EVALUATE(x) this will return 36.48 which is wrong, if I formatted the expression like this: x = [(30.00 + 36.00) * 0.1800] ?EVALUATE(x) this will return the correct value 11.88 Now in this example the formula has only 3 values to process, but in reality it could be several, who can I properly add the parenthesis to the formula in order to be properly evaluated? Hello, Is there any way to use a proportional font in a VFP textbox - specifically I am looking for a space character that only uses 1 horizontal pixel space within the textbox and a vertical bar character that does the same. What I want to do is to be able to create a specific width rectangle bar by using repeated vertical lines next to each other. I tried other approaches recommended earlier (using a shape box within a container to vary the size of the rectangle) but the results are unreliable.     - ??chr(7) Changes Screen Label Font Under vfp6 & vfp8, Recently I am noticing that when I issue a ??chr(7) before a messagebox, the labels on the active screen become much bolder and perhaps a different font. I have tried using ??chr(7) font "ARIAL",10 as a test and it does not seem to help. I use this for years (since fpd 2.6) and have never noticed this until recently. Also, sometimes only a few of the labels change and some remain the same. It just makes the screen look ugly. When you leave the screen and come back in, everything is normal.     - Clicking a disabled item in Combox causes something weird.. I learnt this the hard way, after hours of debugging and frustration. I have a combobox that has some items disabled from its list. When I click on a disabled item from the Dropdown list, it appears to work fine because it the value in the combobox remains unchanged as the selected item was disabled. However, behind the scenes, it sets the lastkey() to 27. I also have a Quit button on the same form whose Cancel property is set to .t. which also sets the Lastkey() to 27 when you click on this button. In my LostFocus code for the combobox, I am checking to see if Lastkey() i.e. whether the Cancel button was pressed. Now what is happening that even when a disabled item is selected, the Lostfocus procedure is still fired up and it thinks that the Cancel button was pressed and control shifts to the next control. I have one customer that is getting the following error
Index does not match the table. Delete the index file and re-create the
index

She has gotten it 3 times in the past 2 days, each time I have deleted the
index and re-created. Each time after that the program runs fine, (for a
while). The line of code that it errors on is an UPDATE SQL statement.
This is run on a table with buffering set to 5. I only have one site with
this problem and I cannot reproduce it. What could be causing this?????
