    - Error Creatin FORM I have created a form in one system. Later on the same form was modified on other system. After the complete modification. I form.sct & form.sct file on the previous system. When i am running the command do form uccmast i am getting the error message as 'error loading file - record no.174 < one of its members>.parent;class name is invalid' what could be the error. I have renstalled the VFP on previous system after completely deleting the vfp programme folder. After this only the error is occuring.     - DE bug? In the de of a form, I open a remote view with alias teacher1, and again with alias teacher2. In form.load is this code: SELECT teacher1 INDEX ON personid TAG personid SELECT teacher2 INDEX ON personid TAG personid The second INDEX statement gives the message "personid already exists, overwrite it?" This is a different cursor. I shouldn't get such a message. If I respond Yes, teacher2 is indexed and the index on teacher1 is removed! Is it me? This is VFP9 public beta.     - How many indexes is too many? Reading some postings, they mention not to use to many indexes (gets buggy). One of our VFP6 tables has 85 fields and ~ 120,000 records and growing. We do a variety of queries on many fields. Currently we have 8 indexes and would like to add a few more. I was wondering what a safe # of indexes is without compromising anything.?     - Current Record is modified I have looked in the help but can't seem to find if a function exists for this. I need to know if any fields in the current record has been modified. The closest I found is getfieldstate. This would mean I would have to loop through each field to see if it has been modified? Hi, I hope there is someone that reads this and knows how to update data interactively using Visual Foxpro on data in a Progress (V9) database. I can read / report on the data, but updates fail. How did you set up the connection properties and the properties of the remote view? In the view designer, update criteria tab, I selected the key field and selected update all fields, selected "send SQL Updates" and left other options at their default values. It is a remote view on a single table. The connection's user id has enough authority to read, write and execute. But if I try to update a field in a record it does not change the record, any changes are lost and the original values remain. I am using the Progress SQL92 driver (03.60.0006) (MERANT 3.60 32-BIT).     - Adding a sum of column on previous page in the first row of current page Hello guys: Now, this should be easy: I created an apps that already run for years in my client site. This morning he just called and asked me to add a sum of previous page in the top of each report. What he mean is something like this: suppose that the total_sales column for page 1 is US$ 540.50, then this amount must show up in the first line of page 2. The same goes in page 3 in which the first line is fill with the sum value of page1 and page2. Question: Is there any way that I could accomplish this in the report writer alone (by adding variable or whatever) without 'touching' the code that create the cursor (the cursor is used as a data source for the report).     - textbox and numbers Hi, I have an annoying default-textbox-behaviour when entering numbers in combination with clicking on the textbox before starting entering numbers. When "tabbing" into the textbox there are no problems because I set the textbox.format = "K" (=select whole) So the whole text is selected and when entering one or more number the selection gets "replaced" with the new values so far so good with the default behaviour. But when I enter into the textbox with a mouseclick then "problems" occurs. For example when the default value = 0 and the users clicks in the left side of the textbox. the textbox doesn't get selected and the 0 stays in the textbox ! when typing only one number (eg 2) the value becomes 20 ! when typing two number (eg 21) the value becomes ok = 21. when the default value is 123 and the user enter 21 the result becomes 211 ! (so while typing the default values moves to the right) when the users clicks in the right side of the textbox it is even worse ! Then the user can't even enter values in the textbox. it jumps right away to the next control. I've placed this (as a trial) in the textbox.click to be sure the textbox get selected : this.Selstart = 0 this.SelLength = LEN(TRANSFORM(this.Value)) but this start selecting from left to right ! so this is not a solution. and textbox.alignment = 2 (left) is also not a solution. So my question is how can I safely enter numbers into a textbox combined with first clicking on the textbox.     - Pageframe Memory Variable I have designed a pageframe which has 3 pages. I am using the memvar for textbox,combox grid data on all the pages. I scatter the memvar & getting the pages refreshed as follows. thisform.pageframe1.page1.refresh thisform.pageframe1.page2.refresh thisform.pageframe1.page3.refresh. Upto this everthing is fine. But, I have written the routine in the cmdbutton 'SAVE' for saving the record in click procedure. Here i am checking some validations for the memvar which are checked. Only for page1 the check procedure are ok. But when trying to check the memvar of the second page it gives the error as 'Variable not foun'. I checked that field name exist & value is also shown, but m.filedname values are not found for complete 2nd page. If pageorder is 2 then memvar vvalues of the 1st pages are not found.     - FPW2.6, source not available I keep getting "source not available" in the trace window on a new project I'm working on. It is driving me nuts, I can't quite understand it but it seems to be affected by my default directory...... I have a directory: U:\foxpro\devlog This is where my tables are. I have another directory: U:\foxpro\projects\devlog This is where my source is. If I do this: SET DEFAULT TO u:\foxpro\devlog [open trace window, open program "u:\foxpro\projects\devlog\devlog.exe"] then any program I pick from the list of programs in the project tells me "source not available"] If I do this: SET DEFAULT TO u:\foxpro\projects\devlog then I can see the source in the trace window OK but of course it won't run because the tables aren't there.     - Varchars rephrased I have more than 200 remote views that have varchar fields and have always dealt with the pain of padding the fields in order to get the right queries. Now, VFP9 supports varchars but unfortunately the view designer does not do the right conversion, it converts the varchars to char type not helping at all. If I use the SQL editor I can change the type from C to V but that would be a pain. DBSETPROP or coding some hack would help but that is not the question here.     - VFP7 weird error after ROLLBACK We have been getting error 1884 Uniqueness of index primarykey is violated in a very strange situation which we can't explain. I have discovered that removing the ROLLBACK if beforesave fails seems to stop this error happening. There is nothing to rollback after all, as the tableupdate has not yet been issued. But what I can't explain is why the error 1885 appears in this situation?????? I would have thought issuing a ROLLBACK when there is nothing to rollback would have just been ignored by VFP but it seems to be causing problems. Any ideas anyone? MS SQL2000, VFP8, WinXP, Region-Lithuania I found how to enter russian text into VFP forms textbox. Changed textbox fontcharset property to 204-Cyrillic. But when browsing or printing i can't see correct characters. (Report font script properties are diabled) On SQL backend i see only abrakadabra text, but can manually enter right cyrillic text. What I want to do is check for certain open files at a set time before a backup (no problem), but also shut down any session which is holding the files open, which is where I can see some mileage in the MMC class.     - Windows API Function Needed I am in need of a way to create several user accounts on a windows 2000 server using VFP and attach them to pre existing usergroups. This is for a terminal server where we have been doing the bad thing of having multiple users using the same logon to the server and have been having printing problems because of it. Ideal would be able to scan through our user table and create a logon for each one, attach it to a pre-determined group and set the password to blank and require that it be changed on first logon. Is it possible to do this from VFP on a server that we completely control (we have the admin password in other words and we own the server).     - Varchars and VFP9 Even if we can define fields as varchars in our backends, VFP9 doesn't recognize (or at least doesn't convert them to varchar) in the view designer. You can do it manually in the SQL editor of the view designer changing the type C to V. Is this an ODBC problem more than a VFP9 issue? Are we getting new ODBC or OLEDB drivers with VFP9?     - SQL from buffered table does not contain recent updates I ran into a situation where the code was running a query against a buffered table that had been recently updated, but the cursor did not have the current changes in it. It was doing something like this: * Make sure table is buffered REPLACE <field> with <newvalue> SELECT * FROM <table> into cursor <mycursor> At this point, mycursor shows the old value, not the new value we just put into the table. We are currently using MSGRAPH to present some simple graphs within our
application. There have been some new requirements requested that are
not available within MSGRAPH and hence we are looking for an alternative
graph method.

What graph controls are people using instead of MSGRAPH?

the facilities we require are "mouse-awareness" so we can display the
current value on a plot or some additional application data. We also
would like to be able to provide 'graph templates' that define things
like graph formats etc. We need to be able to support multiple axes.

Try using Excel as an OLE control. Um, I mean ActiveX, I guess. Excel has
tons of graphing capability. I haven't used it much, but I know it's there.
