I'm interesting in beginning to migrate my POS system and a Inventory
Catalog System to a web environment. Basically, I want to start by
displaying Foxpro generated cursors in a web browser. But in the long run I
want to replace the systems with Web based interfaces.
Where should I start? I have been looking at learning PHP and using ODBC to
access Foxpro tables. Is this a good idea? Or should I look in another
direction?
Thanks for any input.
John.

PHP is one option... there are many others. The first place to learn about
VFP & the web is www.west-wind.com.

Hi John:

Along with www.west-wind.com, you might want to look at Internet
Applications with Visual FoxPro 6.0 by Rick Strahl. The book is available
from www.hentzenwerke.com.

I hope this helps.

John,
If you choose PHP, you'll have to rewrite a lot of the app logic. Why not
keep your web dev in VFP. You can easily create a vfp mtdll and call it
from ASP or ASP.NET. I've put together a bunch of routines and put into a
tool called ActiveVFP. It's free and community supported. Check it out at:
