Printing Label
I have a label that has to print to a eltron orion lp2443 printer. The label
is set to p rint 4x3 and the driver is set to print in the same dimensions
however when it does print, the printing starts at the bottom of the label
and continues on to the top of the next label instead of starting at the top
of the first label.
I have downloaded multiple drivers for the printer with the same results and
have cleared the tag1, tag2 and expr fields to no avail.

Records Keep Disappearing
I have a payroll application for school written in FPD 2.6. The program was
actually migrated up from FoxPro 1.0 and is an ongoing work, quite involved,
but doing everything we need done. The app ran for six years from the DOS
prompt with no problems. Our schools don't have the greatest of machines with
money being tight, so we only went to Windows 98se machines three years ago
and the payroll app now runs in a DOS box.
Since the running of the program through Windows, about once a month I have
a school call in (there are 14 schools) and report that their personnel table
all of a sudden has only five records. It is always five, and there are
actually two personnel tables that the program uses, and it happens sometimes
to just one and sometimes both. The only common thread that I can find
between error incidences is that two of the schools tell me it happens when
the program is backing up to floppy using PKZIP. All files are closed when
the backing up is going on.

Setup created with VFP6 Setup Wizard
I have created a NetSetup using VFP6 SP5 Setup Wizard. A strait and simple
setup. There is no Post-Setup-Executable.
On a LAN computer, the installation runs fine.
Win 2000 Server, Win XP Professional SP1, Office 2000.
On standalone computers it sometimes hangs when it gets to the last message:
"Setup is updating your system."
Win XP Home Edition, Office XP
After closing the hung Setup, the only apparent thing not not done is the
creation of the "Visual FoxPro Applications" Program Group on the All
Programs menu.
After creating a desktop icon for the installed application, said
application works perfectly.
What's causing the install to hang?
Any info would be appreciated.

FPW2.6a handling errors and calling parameters from the command line
I am writing a program which I want to call with a parameter from the
command line. I've built a little test program and all works as expected.
However, if the user passes too many parameters on the command line, I get a
"Wrong number of parameters" error which they can then click "ignore" on. I
can't place an ON ERROR before the line because then PARAMETERS is no longer
the first statement in the program.
I'll immediately do a check on PARAMETERS() - if it is over 1 then show a
message and return, otherwise continue. It seems as if PARAMETERS() returns
the correct value even if the "PARAMETERS m.ppar1" doesn't have enough
variables.
Is there a cleaner way to handle this?

invalid path and hyperthreading
I have a v 6.0 app. that has been running fine for 3 years which installs on
the user's local drive. It sets no default folder or path and only accesses
our Oracle server through ODBC to do reporting.
We are now getting new machines for our users that have Intel's
hyperthreading technology and now, after a fresh install, the app.
is issuing an "invalid path or filename" error consistently. If I choose to
ignore it, I get a memory error. The app. never fires up.
The command line contains a -c directive for the config file.
I also have a copy of the .exe on a server. If I point my user's icon

Reports and columns
Thanks in advance for the help.
I'm using VFP 7 SP1
I have a 4 column report and I would like a total at the bottom of the last
column only. The entire report fits on one page.
If I set up a summary page it prints on the second page.
If I set up a column footer it prints under all 4 columns.
I've tried using various expressions in the Print When dialog but nothing
I've tried so far has worked.
The only thing I can think of is calculating the total before running the
report and inserting one more record in the table with the report total
data.
There must be something more elegant than that, however.
Does anyone have any idea?

How to get which columns actually have 'Data Type Mismatch' error in INSERT-SQL?
Hi all,
Sometimes, I do SQL-INSERT-insertion to a table that consists of many
columns. Something like this:
INSERT INTO my_table (col-1, col-2, col-3,..., col-n);
VALUES (val-1, val-2, val-3,..., val-n)
Problem is, I often had this 'Data Type Mismatch' error. I hate this
error because it is very easy to fix *if* I know which column(s) is
(are) having the data mismatch error -and finding which columns could be
very tedious if it involves many columns.
Q: Anybody knows how to retrieve the information which column(s) is
(are) actually have the mismatch data error? It's easy to get if the
insertion is against remote table (via SPT) because AERROR() gives that
information, but what if it is a view or local tables which are accessed
by VFP natively? AERROR() doesn't seem to work.

VFP7 very slow performance
I am looking at speed problems that one of our application users has
reported. Basically the problem is happening on very large tables of around
100,000 records. Each record has around 40 fields. All fields are indexed
as a rule in our application. The speed issues are mainly over a network
although it is also noticeably slow on my c: drive.
I've analysed the problem using SET COVERAGE and have found that on saving a
new record to one of these tables, the Tableupdate takes about 1 second but
the application pauses for 16 seconds on the END TRANSACTION line. I have no
idea how to improve the speed of this so any clues would be most helpful.

VFP 7 installation/uninstallation problem!
I just did a fresh install of Windows 2000. Haven't even gotten around
to installing the Windows 2000 service pack update or configuring
Internet access. To access some documentation (which I keep in DBFs) I
decided to install VFP 7.0. I did so, updated it to SP1 (which I had
saved on disk), got everything configured. The installation process
appeared to have proceeded normally after I was prompted to install
necessary Windows Components from the VFP 7 installtion CD. However,
turning on the machine I am prompted to install a component (not
specified), and am asked for a location. It hints that it's looking for
vs_setup.msi, if you poke a bit. This is on the VFP 7.0 installation CD,
which I put in. A process goes on for some ten minutes, and it appears
that a lot of stuff is getting installed, configured (therm bars going
on and on). However, later I get the same thing on subsequent Windows
2000 startups. I decide to uninstall VFP 7.0 and reinstall it. I go to
Add/Remove programs and try to remove it there. I'm informed that
Windows can't find the uninstall file and am asked if I want to remove
the representation of the program in Add/Remove programs. Stupidly, I
agree.
I try to uninstall from the VFP 7 installation CD. The option is right
there: Uninstall MS Visual Foxpro 7. I pick it and a dialog comes up
saying:
Setup has detected that you might not have enough space to install this
product. Do you want to continue?
Yes No
The installation drive has 87 GB free! I can't pick either Yes or No, as
the dialog and the VFP 7 Maintenance screen is completely frozen. My
only option is to end the task. What can I do to fix things? I really
don't want to reformat Windows 2000 again.
It appears that the dialog was waiting for a response from me. Of
course, I couldn't respond. However, something changed at one point and
I chose to uninstall ("Yes"). That appeared to proceed "normally,"
however afterward my installation directory and files appeared to
persist. I put in the installation CD and proceeded to attempt to
install VFP 7 again. The process immediately aborted and I was offered
this logfile explaining the reason for the abort:

Help w/ DOS foxbase app--won't start
Help. I am trying to get a program written in DOS foxbase about 6-7
years ago to start. It seems to start, but then I get a message that
says "Preparing files ... Please be patient"
Then it drops to a dos prompt. No other messages. I cannot get it to
do anything. The most puzzling part of this is that this program works
fine on an old computer running W98. That computer boots to dos and
then this legacy foxbase ap is used. When I copied all of the files
from that old computer to a new one, it did not work and is doing as I
described above.
I'm not sure this matters, but the new computer is using VirtualPC on
XPPro. The virtualPC boots to dos and only loads w98 when asked.
I duplicated the config.sys and autoexec.bat settings. I cannot think
of anything else.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Record pointer moving on its own (it's possessed!!)
I have a situation with a client's app that results in the record pointer
not moving properly. On the forms I develop, I use a pageframe with a List
tab at the far right. On the tab is a grid showing the form's main table and
this grid is used for locating a record. You click in a column, start
typing, it does an incremental search, and when you hit the record you want
you just press Enter. The pageframe's main tab is activated and this is
where the data entry/edit is done. This works great, but after installing
VFP 8 a client noticed a problem. While on the main tab, the user may move
to another record (this is basically a bill of materials form and the user
can right-click on a line item and choose Inspect this part and the record
pointer will be moved to that part and the form will display it). After
doing this and clicking back on the List tab, instead of the grid being
positioned on the record displayed in the main tab, the grid will be on some
other record. It's not necessarily a record that was previously being viewed
on the main tab. As I mentioned before, this has worked perfectly up until
the install of VFP 8. In fact, when the client tests on a VFP 7 version of
the app, it still works fine. I had noticed some similar behavior in another
client's app, but attributed it to an error in my code (though I could find
none) and didn't think it was VFP 8 related because it had been awhile since
we moved to VFP 8, so that connection didn't jump out at me. However, that
may be the same issue. If the code is traced, it works, if the code is not
traced it will fail. Has anyone seen anything like this?
Thanks,

Project Manager problem
Hi,
I am experiencing a weird problem with the program manager.
On an existing project it does not add automatically the forms, programs,
icons etc used.
If I create a new project and just add the main program, everything is
rebuilt correctly.
But, if I reopen the project and remove a form (for test reasons) and
rebuild the project, the form is not added.
It reports that the form is Undefined !
I found and read another relative post but those guidelines do nothing for
me.
I have deleted all foxuser files, Rebuild, Cleanup the project. Recompile
all files.
The problem does not seem to appear on other projects, on other directories.
Pleeeaaase Help, before I get crazy.
