    - copy classes (vfp9sp1) I am trying again on the issue of copying classes. I have two applications that use a common set of classes. I need to make a change that only impacts one application in one of the common classes. This reflects a pretty fundamental change to the application, even though it actually involves changing only one line in the common classes. At a later time, the same changes will be made to the other app, but at the moment just the one. Based on the last time I asked about this, I made a copy of the vcx in the home directory of the app to be changed. I then removed the original class from the project, added the relocated class, and rebuilt the project. As I am sure most of you know, the components that use the class in question still point to the original.     - SQL Server and Microsoft Visual FoxPro I am really struggling with the Microsoft Visual FoxPro syntax to SQL Server. I actually have to CREATE a SQL Server Table. I seem to be doing that ok. It's the INSERT to this table from Microsoft Visual FoxPro that I am struggling with.     - Trapping events in BROWSE window I come from FPW 2.6 moving to VFP9 and I have enhanced my BROWSE command adding NAME so that I can set colours for headers, columns, rows, gridlines, etc. Is it possible to trap under this schema for events like double clicking a column, clicking on a column header, etc. ?     - Confuse behaviour calling a DLL I´m using a DLL with several readonly tables inside. Sometimes trying to open one of these tables I got the error "File MyDBF does not exist". On displaying memory and status to files I couldn´t find changes at all. No database is open. These are free tables. What other environment changes can I compare? Thanks.     - excel automation datatype I'm pushing a table into an excel work sheet by iterating through the table, doing a scatter .... <to array> and .Cell[row,col].Value = array[col] etc... Using this method, however, vfp date types seem to be converted to characters like "mm/dd/yy" instead of an excel date type (if there is one).     - Confusing performance difference VFP8 SP1 on XP Pro SP2 I have some code that was running a bit slowly: SELECT DISTINCT colToFix ; INTO ARRAY colArray ; FROM myTbl SELECT myTbl FOR EACH curVal IN colArray lcNewVal = ThisForm.Standardize(curVal) REPLACE colToFix WITH lcNewVal FOR colToFix = curVal ENDFOR There is an index on the ColToFix column. myTbl is a free table. Standardize is a method that makes sure the passed in value follows certain formatting rules. On a table with 50K records, this was taking almost 2 minutes. There are about 10 distinct values in the column in question. All of the execution time was happening in the 10 calls to REPLACE - some of them taking over 20 seconds! With such a small table and indexed on the column in question, I would think each REPLACE would take no more than a second. I've tested on many, many tables of the same size with the same result, so it's not a corruption issue. Playing around with it, I changed it to the following: SELECT myTbl SCAN REPLACE colToFix WITH ThisForm.Standardize(colToFix) ENDSCAN Amazingly, this was 5 times faster! How could performing 50K replacements and 50K calls to the standardize method take *less* time than doing 10 calls to each?!? This was also 5 times faster: SELECT myTbl REPLACE colToFix WITH ThisForm.Standardize(colToFix) ALL I rarely have performance problems in VFP, so this one's a bit of a head scratcher.     - VFP column type using SQL I have a situation where I am doing a SQL query within a FoxPro .prg. The program is assuming the data attributes from SQL and I'm specifically going after an INT column type. And I have to pass back a <blank> in this field rather than the value. If I set up a global or local variable, can I move the SQL result column to this global/local character field and then pass the <blank> that way??? I also thought about doing a CAST or CONVERT in my SQL statement, but I'm not sure how to pass back a <blank> that way either. The problem here is that is one big UNION Select and I only want to do this in the one UNION condition. I am sort of new to Visual FoxPro. How does FoxPro discern whether a working storage global or local variable is character or numeric??? Can anyone help me out here??? Thanks in advance.     - Error only reports "click" I have an application with an error handler that saves information on errors. For some errors, though, instead of reporting the form and/or function that caused the error, Exception.Procedure only returns "click". This makes it very difficult to track the error. Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to track the procedure that causes this error? Is there a known situation for which Exception.Procedure returns only "click"?     - VFP 9.0 report template returns printer to default I have a third party application that uses vfp9.0. When i try to save a printer to the report template, it goes back to the default printer. i am unable to save the non default printer. we use this application to print labels using a datamax printer. we need to be able to save the datamax printer because it uses labels different then 81/2 X11. in trying to resolve this, i contacted teh third party, and they responded that this was a vfp 9.0 bug and not their bug. they had a vfp application that was supposed to solve this, but it didn't. i went to vfp 9 and created a sample report. i then tried to save a non default printer, and it did the same thing. after closing and opening the report, the default printer was selected again. is there any patches to fix this? any help would be appreciated. thanks Tag: PDF Form Filler ActiveX controls Tag: 241538

Does anyone know why? I don't think "REORDER" is a keyword, have I stumbled across something magic? Incidentally, is there somewhere (in the help maybe?)     - Using default font under Vista (or XP) Out of curiousity, does anyone know how to get Foxpro to use the standard Windows font for form labels, textboxes etc without having to manually set the font as such? ie. If the app is running under XP, then form objects will display using Tahoma (for example) or if running under Vista then Segoe UI. If that is not possible.... Setting the font to default for a form object seems to set it to Arial. Is there some way of changing this default font setting for VFP such that all forms pick this up?     - Is an .exe running - revisited I asked a question earlier where I would like to check if an external app (non-foxpro) is running as was given the code below to place in a function. It works great and detects if an app is running however, when I close the other app, and do a test to see if it still running, calling the funton still indicates the other windows app is still runing but it's not. I tried issuing clear dlls but it doesn't help. If I leave FoxPro and come back in, it resets the function and it now works but once the other app is run, it again indicates the the other app is running after I close it. Is there anyway I could fix this issue. It seems to only work until the first instance of the external app is run. TIA Mike.     - Shortcut or Popup menus on top level forms VFP8 SP1 on XP Pro SP2 I have a form with ShowWindow=2 (As top level form). I am using the MenuLib class in the Utility.vcx library to dynamically create and show a popup menu when a certain control is Right-clicked on. This worked fine when ShowWindow was set to 0 (in screen), but with the form as a top level form, the popup no longer appears. I suspect it is being displayed *behind* the top level form or in the SCREEN (??!). This makes the popup unusable, needless to say. The MenuLib class uses DEFINE POPUP to build the popup menu then SHOW POPUP to display it. I don't see anything in the help file about this not working on a top level form, but there is obviously something amiss here.     - Active Source Control Provider not recognizing VSS is installed Hi, My machine crashed, so I'm setting up a new machine with my dev environment. I've never had a problem with VFP finding my VSS installation before, but I do now. I have VSS installed, I can see it in the registry, it's hooked up the project and I can use the VSS environment just fine. But when I go to VFP's Options for the project, and drop down the Active Source Control Provider box, it's empty. I checked and I am running VSS from a local installation, not off a server.     - Tables become corrupted in Terminal Server Session My scenario: application's exe (vfp9) running from a file server, on 30 computers and there are also 10 sessions of terminal server who run on another server (not the file server). The users of the 10 sessions are 3 miles away from both file server and the terminal server. Connection is over a 2 MB point to point line, with a good ping of about 30 ms. Surprisingly, from time to time some tables on the file server become corrupted, and I can see that these tables had been in use by the "remote" people in terminal server mode. (These are the only people that can update the corrupted tables. The "local" people just open the tables with NOUPDATE). For example today, one of the tables that became corrupted, indicated with Foxfix5 a wrong record count. The table is small, about 15000 records, with a record length of 50, that means 750 kB. Is there a chance to get a corrupted table because of a micro cut in the connection to the remote office? I could understand this if it were a true client-server application, but it runs on a LAN and on terminal server, this means only video is updated. What else can be happening ?     - Project hook There are a couple of prgs that I have to remember to run before creating the exe - e.g. initialising some tables that are stored R/O within the exe.     - Quit To ... There used to be a DOS-days (Foxbase?) command QUIT TO <Some other app> where <Some other app> would start automatically after exiting Fox.     - ActiveX Control No Visible After Form INIT Hi I have an ActiveX form on my form and despite my best attempts I cannot get the thing to display when I launch my form. The only way to 'fudge' the situation is to make it tab order 1 and force a 'TAB' character into the keyboard buffer. That's fine whilst it's the first control on the form but that's not always the case. I've seen this behaviour before with other ActiveX controls so it's not just confined to this one.     - How to prevent creating a big exe file. In a project having some big readonly tables I build a DLL including this tables with a class to open them. This DLL is called mdata.DLL All was fine working in the VFP IDE but when I build the main project in which these tables are used I realized that the exe file is very big and include all mdata.DLL on it. 130 Mbs. I do this because I need to encrypt these tables and the tools I had used don´t work now in VFP9 in windows vista. I use Netlib and now Cryptor4. As I dont have Cryptor5 license I choose this way to protect the tables. Can I create an exe with the readonly tables in other .DLL file? Thanks. recommend where a user can fill out a PDF form and then the viewer will save
the changes in PDF format?

You could create a fill-in form template in Word 2007 and use the
downloadable PDF creation addon to SAVE AS.

In an earlier version of Word, you could create a form template and "print"
to a PDF "printer" such as cutePDF, PDF995, Snagit, etc.

If you're looking to use the Adobe forms API, you'll probably have to visit
the Adobe support forums. It has nothing to do with Foxpro. People I trust
tell me it's not trivial.
