    - Converting Tabs to Spaces Does anyone know of command to convert Tabs into Spaces? of course a STRT will do the trick, except for the tabs that are less than the characters specified in the STRT.     - Need URGENT help with interactivechange with 2 combo boxes I am unable to change selection in 1st combo box when I try to clear the value of the 2nd combo box in the interactivechange area. Here is a little better explanation: I have 2 combo boxes on my form. Both combo boxes get populated using a select statement. Everything worked fine until I decided that I want to clear the value of the second combo box if the first one changes to force the user to make a new selection so I put this in the first combo box in the interactivechange event: thisform.cmbBox2.value = "" Now when you try to change the selection in the 1st combo box, the 2nd combo box does get cleared, but the first combo box doesn't change like it is supposed to. When I remove this line from the interactivechange event you can change the 1st combo box and the new selection appears. What am I missing?     - Damaged/Corrupted DBF I have a corrupted .dbf file that can not be opened. What are my best options for getting this file repaired? The file does not have a .fpt associated with it. I know there are many utilities that can be purchased, but which one. I can't believe Microsoft hasn't included a utility to repair damaged files within VFP. I don't like the thought of paying $199 for a utility that I almost never need. I have this one client that seems to come up with a damaged file every six months or so. Any clues of why this is happening? They are running the application off of a Citrix server, meaning it is accessed via Citrix and actually loaded on the Citrix server.     - How to determine the input method for the textbox control? Hi I have a PC with a barcode scanner and keyboard attached to its PS/2 plug using the Y cable. In my VFP8 application, I want to control the type of input method for a textbox control in a form. That means that I want the data to be input to a textbox control ONLY from the barcode scanner, NOT from the keyboard. Is there a way to determine or control the input method for textbox control?     - project file The project that I have been working on for some months loads fine in the vfp 9 ide. It looks like all the forms and code are present. When I try to build the project it says the memo file, name.pjt, is missing or invalid. I see that yes, the file is present where it should be. Is there some way that I can regenerate this file?     - Need help with combobox Hi everyone. I need some help with using a drop down combobox. I have a table (physicians) that contains physician's names and phone numbers. I want to be able to create a drop down menu where users can click on the drop down menu and select the physician.     - VFP 9 Local Drag and Drop Is there a way to drag the contents of a control on a form to another control? IE. drag contents of a textbox to another textbox. My specific need is to drag the contents of a cursor cell to a cell in another cursor.     - SBT/Vision Point 10 with VFP 6.0 Anyone out there using SBT/Vision Point 10 in Windows XP, along with Visual FoxPro 6.0 (actually, any version of VFP)? My client has source, and I'm doing extensive revisions to non-Laser printing output, bypassing the Report Generator code and the .FRM/.FRX files, and getting FoxPro "C0000005" error. Researched that on Google, found only one guy who seemed to really know anything about it, and he suggested downloading the latest Service Pack (SP5) which I did. Still, no joy.     - VFP 9: Help with sending/receiving XML via FTP Hello, Looking for resources which will help me understand XML via FTP. The same application is used by both the sender and recipient. Here is what I do (sender): Insurance claim is created (single record). The record is converted to XML. The XML file is uploaded to specific FTP directory for the specific insurance company. At the other end (recipient): Recipient checks FTP folder for contents. Recipient is prompted to download the claims. The claims are downloaded and exported to table. Confirmation is returned to sender. I have the concept of how it will work, but I need a good book or suggestions from you on how to actualy deploy the idea. Thanks for the input.     - Running BAT file via ShellExecute I kick off a BAT file from within my VFP7 app with something like this... lcPath = "C:\MyPath" lcFile = "MyFile.BAT" CD (lcPath) ShellExecute( 0, "open", lcFile, "", "", 2 ) All works OK. However, if lcPath has a value of [\\MyPC\c\MyPath] the ShellExecute doesn't seem to work. SYS(5) + SYS(2003) return the expected value of [\\MyPC\c\MyPath] at that point.     - Detecting an Excel File Hello and thanks in advance for the help. This may be the wrong place for this question but if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful. I am working with Excel spreadsheets and using the following code to open a spreadsheet: oExcel = CREATEOBJECT("Excel.Application") && Start Excel oExcel.Workbooks.Open(lcSpreadsheet) where lcSpreadsheet contains the name of the spreadsheet file. The problem is that these are uploaded files and sometimes they don't upload Excel files even though they are supposed to. Sometimes this code is executing on my web server which doesn't like Excel file open errors. My question is: 1.     - Update Views problem I use a view to fill a grid. To add an additional row in the grid I provide a button on the form which adds a row in the view, enters some predefiened data and send an update to the view with: =TABLEUPDATE(1,.t.,'view') and put the focus onto the grid. After entering data, closing the form, reopening it again the predefined data are there but the manually entered data are lost! In the grid in every text and combo box I put in the Valid Methods the code: =TABLEUPDATE(1,.t.,'view') The problem occurs only if a new row is added to the grid/view.     - PS file generation error after VFP8 upgrade to VFP9 Hi All, After i upgrade from VFP8 to VFP9(with SP1), the Adobe Distiller can not convert the ps file to pdf successfully. The problem is due to the ps files store the printer setting. I have fixed it by checking "Printer Environment" in every report forms, (since all report forms are checked it in VFP8), however, it is too time consuming.     - Keeping Focus in a TextBox I have a textbox at the top of a form and a grid below. I want to stay in the textbox and enter data - hit return and update the grid - and then go right back to the textbox. Don't want to leave it until I click out of it. I use valid to test the data in the textbox and return(.t) just after updating the grid. If not valid I return .f. and tell the user and the focus stays in the textbox. I want it to stay there even if I return .t. Return .t causes focus to go to the next object. I don't want that.     - Insertion point, active window highlight: not I've got a situation in which the vfp insertion point is not visible and the title bars of active windows are no longer highlighted. This has nothing to do with set cursor or sys(2002), but it *may* be related to the fact that I have a large number of tables open (aprox 110) and some of those tables have a large number of fields (eg 250) with an index tag on about every field. The number of records for all 8 tables, including the duplicate record, is 13,021 - I joined the 8 tables using SQL UNION.     - dbf file not a table After new 2003 server and upgrading to vfp9 dbf files copied to a new folder can not be opened. Program to copy was written in vfp8 . .dbf was created in vfp9.     - Build Exe and Project Build What is the difference between running the Build Exe command in a prg and running the third option in the Build Options Dialog box "Win32 executable / COM server (exe)"? According to the documentation it should be the same. I am using foxpro 7 and trying to compile a COM server application. When I use the project build option it works just fine and creates the exe , tlb, and vbr files. When I run the Build Exe command from a program it hangs on the COM registration portion of the build and then errors out saying it can't find my COM events class. Now, if I set grid.column1.controlsource="TABLEA.column" in form designer, when the form was executed, VFP would complain: Error loading file - record number 3. TABLEA <or one of its members>. ControlSource: Alias "TABLEA" is not found. If I modified the form, clear grid.column1.controlsource, set grid.column.text1.controlsource="tablea.column", then the form could be loaded without problem. Why?     - Controlling the row height in Excel from vfp I have finally successfully transferred data from vfp9 into an Excel sheet using loEx = createobject('Excel.Application') My problem is that the row height is varying depending on the data being placed in the cell. Whilst this may be correct so that allthe data can be seen, the result is rather ugly. How do I set all the rows in the sheet to be the 'standard' or default height?     - Locking problem with Foxpro Hi all I have 120 users using a Foxpro 2.6 app. The db files and the app are accessed via a network drive. We are experiencing a number of problems relating to data updates. Here's the deal: We have a Sales Order Header Table (Table A) and a Sales Order Lines Table (Table B) 1. User A accesses a Sales Order and adds two line items 2. User A saves and exits the order (tables are closed) 2. User B accesses the same Sales Order but cannot see the two new lines 3. User B makes no changes but saves the sales order effectively wiping out the changes made by User A Any suggesstion on a fix please:-) Also can anyone guide me to sources that explain how Foxpro2.6 interacts with the windows local and network file system.     - Using _crypt.vcx Hello everyone. I am trying to encrypt the password field in my user dbf so that no one can read the password if the dbf is opened outside of the program. I wanted to use the _crypt class, but am not quite sure how to go about implementing it. I am new to VFP and am not too familiar with the function. I wanted to encrypt the password field in the dbf, then have the user login, have the program encrypt his/her password, and check the encrypted password with the encrypted password stored in the dbf.     - How do you set up a (textbox) so that it does not fill with blanks I have an input field on a form that uses a barcode font. Works great except that it right fills with blanks. I have been using the kodak image viewer to open TIF files from my foxpro
applications and it has been giving me memory errors since the last patch to
Windows XP. Kodak image viewer is no longer supported.

I was wondering if anyone else had another view they were working with.

I have Adobe 7 but have not figured out how to initiate the program from
within Foxpro.

Any ideas?

Upgrade to VFP9. It speaks TIF.

Acrobat is a document production application. It MIGHT be able to display
the TIF if it's in a PDF document.

I work with Microsoft Document Image viewer. I its also a COM so it is
automatable.
