    - XMLAdapter and multiple tables I try to use, within VFP8, the XMLAdapter to open an XML file containing multiple (4) tables. oXMLAdapter = NEWOBJECT('XMLAdapter') oXMLadapter.LoadXML('M:\Edipax\order.xml',.T.) oXMLAdapter.Tables(1).ToCursor() up to there it works fine. but when i try oXMLAdapter.Tables(2).ToCursor() i got an error "no existing member in the collection".     - Form Works in One App but Not Another Part II Thanks in advance for any help. I have a form that I'm trying to use in two different apps. It works in one but in the other I get this error (which I think that I incorrectly reported in an earlier post) Visual FoxPro Reference "field" phrase is not found (Error 1130) The field specified in PROMPT field was not found. a.. You are using a command with a PROMPT clause that references an unknown field. For more information, type PROMPT in the Index tab of the Help file and select the command you are using. To the best of my knowledge I am not using a PROMPT command or function. Following the instructions above to type PROMPT in the Index tab of the Help file did not help. Does anyone have any idea what this error means? It is an error which can be safely ignored (which I guess means that it can be trapped) but I don't think I should have to do that.     - Join VFP Project to SourceSafe I have a VFP 8.0 project that was, at one time, hooked into SourceSafe. I have since created a new project file and recompiled everything. Everything works great, except now, I cannot check in or check out files from within the Project Manager. I have to go directly to SourceSafe to do that.     - grid display problem Hi, In a column of a grid, the field is defined as c(1), I want to display the word 'Posted' in that column if the field content is 'P', if not then blank.     - TEXT/ENDTEXT limits I use "TEXT to lcXX TEXTMERGE NOSHOW" to build a SQL statement. I have a SQL insert failure due to a syntax error in the insert statement. When I save "lcXX" to a file I notice that a carriage return and line feed (CHR(13)+CHR(10)) have been placed into the string. The insert command being generated is about 2000 characters long. I have used this technique in many applications and have not seen this before, although this merge may be larger than others.     - Record pointer moving on its own (it's possessed!!) I have a situation with a client's app that results in the record pointer not moving properly. On the forms I develop, I use a pageframe with a List tab at the far right. On the tab is a grid showing the form's main table and this grid is used for locating a record. You click in a column, start typing, it does an incremental search, and when you hit the record you want you just press Enter. The pageframe's main tab is activated and this is where the data entry/edit is done. This works great, but after installing VFP 8 a client noticed a problem. While on the main tab, the user may move to another record (this is basically a bill of materials form and the user can right-click on a line item and choose Inspect this part and the record pointer will be moved to that part and the form will display it). After doing this and clicking back on the List tab, instead of the grid being positioned on the record displayed in the main tab, the grid will be on some other record. It's not necessarily a record that was previously being viewed on the main tab. As I mentioned before, this has worked perfectly up until the install of VFP 8. In fact, when the client tests on a VFP 7 version of the app, it still works fine. I had noticed some similar behavior in another client's app, but attributed it to an error in my code (though I could find none) and didn't think it was VFP 8 related because it had been awhile since we moved to VFP 8, so that connection didn't jump out at me. However, that may be the same issue. If the code is traced, it works, if the code is not traced it will fail. Has anyone seen anything like this?     - Project Manager problem Hi, I am experiencing a weird problem with the program manager. On an existing project it does not add automatically the forms, programs, icons etc used. If I create a new project and just add the main program, everything is rebuilt correctly. But, if I reopen the project and remove a form (for test reasons) and rebuild the project, the form is not added. It reports that the form is Undefined ! I found and read another relative post but those guidelines do nothing for me. I have deleted all foxuser files, Rebuild, Cleanup the project. Recompile all files. It just happens that there is not any data in the XML document, meaning the table has no records.     - sys(3050) I've been having a problem with freeze-ups in FoxPro 8, where a compiled application will either freeze entirely or seem to be frozen for a long time but then eventually come back online. This seems to happen especially when a user is just stepping through a table. I'm wondering if possibly this has something to do with the sys(3050) setting. Microsoft has a KB article in which they say that FoxPro does not always work very well with large amounts of RAM. Of course, all computers these days have large amounts of RAM. The KB article says 256 megabytes or more might cause a problem, and all the computers my application is running on have at least 512 megabytes. My question is, in general, is it a good programming practice to always use SYS(3050) in a FoxPro application to reduce the amount of available RAM?     - read only tables We are having problems where client machines cannot update tables. We are using vfp6 and the data is on a 2000server. The client machines are 2000 pro. When trying to write to a table we occasionally get error 111 'cannot update the cursor'. According to the help this is because the table is read only. This has happened with two different tables now and there seems to be no pattern to it. The error persists until the server is restarted. Until then the table cannot be written to. I have tried it and it really shows the icon in the systray. But I have a question: I compile my project with this systray icon tool to an execution file. I have found a DLL, systray.dll that can really hide Visual FoxPro window the systray icon is appeared. But there is something that does not meet my requirement: When I left or right click the systray icon, the Visual FoxPro screen is appeared. What my requirement is: the application should be always hidden and the systray icon appears. When I right-click the systray icon, a menu appears that can let user to choose. I go to requery() an SQL view, but get the error: "Table buffer for alias ViewDocHeader contains uncommitted changes (Error 1545)". prior to this I use: 'setfldstate("DiscPCent", 1, "ViewDocHeader")' to manually set the field status of the view, because the control source has been changed for a control using the DiscPCent field, in debug I can see that this code: getfldstate(-1, tcAlias) returns "1111111111111111111111", why does it still think there are uncommitted changes, when in fact there isn't anything different and I've used 'setfldstate' Any help greatly appreciated.     - How to disable listbox entry I have the need to disable listbox entries that start with '\\', such as a network path. Normally, you start the entry with '\', and it will be disabled. If you have a legitimate backslash, you would change it two backslashes so that it is enabled and displays a single backslash.     - grid row alignment I have a page with a grid based on one local view ("the list page") & a details page based on another couple of views ("the details page"). On machines that do not display help when F1 is pressed: Help is on Help file paths are correct Issuing a "Help" command has no effect.     - HowTo?: re-index LINKed FoxPro files (Access 2002/2003, Windows XP Professional) Scenario: The customer is developing in Access 2003 and installing the .mdb to systems running Access 2002. The customer is running legacy third party accounting software that uses FoxPro files. He has successfully used the ODBC driver for Visual FoxPro to update the legacy FoxPro .DBF tables. There are two other FoxPro files (.CDX, .FPT). After the customer updates the FoxPro .DBF, he unfortunately must open the third party accounting software's utility menu to re-index the files. If he does not do this manual task, the transactions that he added via Access are not visible in the third party accounting software. This manual step prevents the customer from fully automating the transfer of Access data into the legacy FoxPro database. That is the first part of this problem. The second part is the accounting system data is resident on a file server, and the customer is forced to LINK to the legacy tables. He has tried to update the legacy LINKed tables but Access will not re-index LINKed tables for him. I have been searching KB and MSDN and can not find any information about this problem. QUESTION: is it possible from within Access to programmatically re-index FoxPro files? ???? If yes, what is the Access command for re-indexing? If no, I assume (hope) it could be done with a few lines of MS Foxpro or C++ code ... or maybe there are some Foxpro utility programs that could do this via a simple shell to a command line (.cmd/.bat) file. ??? Cool! I haven't seen that error since the Foxpro/DOS days (when it was
usually caused by misconfigured memory).

This occurred when scrolling through a table in a browse window, and it
followed an error saying somtehing about mytable.cdx being read only. I
suspect a corrupted index. We haven't been able to reproduct it. I saw these
a lot with VFP3, back in the good old days :)
