I have a VFP 6.0 app that I need development help with.

From what I have been told, I'm better off going to Ukraine to get .net
development help.

Do you disagree? Can you help me?

Hi Louis,

I see you're in Tampa, Florida. Have you considered contacting ProMatrix
corporation? http://www.promatrix.com/ , 5364 Ehrlich Rd., Suite 370, Tampa,
FL 33624 813-333-1945

If the guys at ProMatrix can't help I'm sure they'll know of someone in town
that does the kind of work you need.

I'm not sure what getting .NET help from Ukraine has to do with getting help
with a VFP app in Tampa Florida.

OK, I agree, you are better off going to Ukraine to get .net development
help. But how is that going to help you with your VFP6 app?

It seems there are fewer and fewer people who write VFP and it is
(consequently) becoming more and more expensive every year.

So I'm being advised (by others who have done so) to begin a rewite in .net,
because the resources both domestically and overseas are growing, (and
becoming cheaper) in contrast to the apparent opposites for VFP.

Not familiar with ProMatrix. Thanks for the tip!!! Can I tell them you sent
me? From what I recall, you do medical stuff. Do you do any development on
the side?

ProMatrix is a high level framework for VFP. You probably don't want to
convert your app to ProMatrix - it would probably not be worth the time, as
it would require a complete rewrite. However, they might be able to refer
you to locally available developer that can help you.

As for converting to dot net, many people are (or already have) done exactly
that for the reasons you have mentioned. See the thread about the future of
VFP where we rehash over and over again the "VFP is dead" "no it isn't"
issue. VFP is in the twilight of it's life, and avaliable developers are
becoming fewer and fewer. Dot net is in it's infancy, and dot net developers
are a dime a dozen.
