Hi All,

I've been using most versions of Fox since v2.6. The time has come
however when more and more of our clients want their applications to
be used on the web. I've therefore been given the task of finding the
most appropriate web development language to enable us to start
converting (or re-writing as the case may be) one of our client's
applications. The aim of this particular app is to enable the client's
customers to log onto a web site, enter some data and for the app to
give them back some data in return. It's an estimating app so the kind
of of data being requested would be materials to be used, requested
time scales etc, most fields should be lookup fields. The data given
back would be estimated price, confirmation of availability etc. The
data should then be posted to the backend database, at the moment VFP
or possibly SQL Server (of which we have about 12 months experience
with).

There seems to be so many languages out there capable of doing this
that we don't know where to begin.

We have absolutely no experience of any web development languages
whatsoever, but we are prepared to learn. We don't mind a steep
learning curve as long as we retain the majority of control (not keen
on wizard driven languages that work well as long as something doesn't
go wrong).

Any recommendations or hint and tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

JLP.

I'd take a look at Web Connection from www.west-wind.com before looking at
anything else. You can leverage your FoxPro skill set and accomplish just
about anything you'd like. Additionally, I'd look at the VooDoo package that
can be obtained from www.eps-software.com. They seem to be downplaying it a
little but is works with Web Connection. Here's link:

Hope this helps.

Best,

DD
