    - RUN will not work - requires working dir? I have an application on my machine that is basically an icon on the desktop with the following for the target P:\psw.exe. If I take properties on the icon, under "start in" it has p:\. If I double click the icon on the desktop, it works as expected. On one of my VFP forms, I have a command button with the following code and the program will not run (it generates an error specific to the program) RUN /N "P:\psw.exe" Any ideas how I can trouble shoot this, or modify the run command so it has a "start in" that emulates what it is expecting?     - C0000005 upon vfp exe exit after responding to .net events I am getting a dreaded C000005 at address 79221bd8 after running a simple vfp exe that opens a simple .net form and responds to an simple event. The event is being handled fine by VFP, but upon exit the windows error is displayed. What is strange is that when this simple app runs in the VFP IDE it works just fine. No errors. Running it standalone produces the error. Does anyone here have some experience/sample code in responding to a vb.net dll's events in a VFP executable? I would sure appreciate some help here. Again the code is working just fine; .net dll is being created and .net form is running in new thread, I am implementing an eventhandler in VFP correctly since the event fired by the .net form is being responded to by VFP.     - indexing problem How do you index a table which has a field which may be positive, negative or zero? The problem is a secondary field is also required which is a character field. Let's say field1 is the numeric field and field2 is the character field. Using the following command to create the index, does not produce the desired results: INDEX ON STR(field1,FSIZE("field1")+field2 TAG myindex For example, I would see the following numbers in a browse form when looking at the field1 column : 0 1 2 3 4 -1 -2 -3 -4 But, the desired response is: -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 I'm sure other people must have come across this problem -- any ideas?     - SQL Problem I have a problem (VFP6) in getting a summed amount which I need for a report. In simplified form, because there are other related tables, the code reads:- Select tenants.lastname,tenants.tenantref,more fields, tenacc.item,tenacc.debit,tenacc.credit,sum(tenacc.debit) as sumdebit,sum(tenacc.credit) as sumcredit; From tenants inner join tenacc; On tenants.tenantref=tenacc.tenantref; order by tenants.tenantref; Where (tenacc.item='Due' OR tenacc.item='Received'; INTO cursor rentsa The problem is that the summed fields include all debits and credits for tenantref, ignoring the Where line which is intended to restrict them. I would like to define the summed fields as sum(tenacc.debit) for (tenacc.item='Due' OR tenacc.item='Received') but SQL does not accept a FOR clause.     - - How to Save Target As.. ? I am trying to automate IE6 to downolad a bunch of documets (.tif, .fax files). Is there a way to execute "Save Target as" within IE object? For instance, I have a link that looks like this: https://www.whatever.com/viewfiles.jsp?fileid=999&name=FILE+NAME+.TIF and I need to download this file to a specific folder with a new file name: c:\TifFiles\_999FileName.tif If I use URLDownloadToFile, I get a blank page since viewfiles.jsp is preventing me from getting the file directly. However, if I use Navigate and then ExecWB(saveas), I am prompted with a dialog to Open/Save/Cancel from Navigate followed by Save As (filename)dialog from ExecWB. With this, I get the ability to download the file but how do I stop the prompts? Ideally, what I am looking for is something like URLDownloadToFile(with ability to provide source url and destination file name) that would work like Navigate->ExecWB(saveas) without the prompts...     - Record does not unlock Hi I have an application made in FPW 26, using tables .DBFs. An application process locks a record and when finishes, unlocks it. Randomly, the record is not unlocked and other users performing the same process stay waiting indefinetly and they have to kill the application. Even though when the process who locks the record finishes and the user closes the application with all tables closed, the record remains locked and other user remain waiting.     - Servoy & Firebird learning curve compared to FoxPro Goldmine 7.0 (CRM) is moving away from xBase, will ship with Open Source SQL DBMS called Firebird (similar to Interbase) as alternative to MS SQL Server version of their product. I'm not much of a programmer, and the only programming language I have ever come close to mastering is/was FoxPro (VFP 6). I have thought of learning Filemaker Pro but since Goldmine is probably going to be my CRM of choice and version 7 will nolonger use dBase I'm faced with learning more about Firebird and wondering what I would use to access the underlying data in addition to or outside of Goldmine. I lean towards FoxPro only because I'm familiar with it already. Interested in opinions / comparisons of FoxPro and Firebird, and also a FoxPro users perspective on Servoy as an RAD tool. John "J.J."     - Foxisapi won't launch COM application Here is my situation: VFP 6.0, XP PRO. http://localhost/common/Foxisapi.dll/RESET & STATUS work properly COM server is out-of-process exe COM server can be loaded directly from Fox with: o = create("bulkm.x2") ? o.testServer() && This works But when I try to launch it from within IE I get "page cannot be displayed" http://localhost/common/foxisapi.dll/bulkm.x2.testServer In the event log I get: The HTTP server encountered an unhandled exception while processing the ISAPI Application 'foxisapi + 0x1E96 + 0xD8CF25C5' It must be a permissions problem. So within the component services I have set: The COM permissions on "My computer" are set to Allow Access and Launch for the IUSR account Under DCOM config the COM server is set to use the defaults for security I am thinking that maybe it is the permissions on the common directory, because Foxisapi writes a file to that directory.     - Outlook Read Email Does Not Run The Form I tried posting this to the Outlook forum with no responses.... I have a custom Email form I have designed with a button on it. However, I notice that when I double click on a form in my inbox the custom form is loaded so that I can read the Email on the custom form. But, the button won't work unless I then click Form, Run this form. Isn't there a way that I can make the button work automatically when the user reads their Email so that they can just click the button rather than click Form, Run this form and then click the button.     - Images and VFP9 I am in the process of moving from VFP7 to VFP9. One problem I have encountered is graphic images on my forms look like crap in 9 when running on Windows 2000 Terminal Server. Granted W2K only supports up to 256 colors, but my VFP7 images looked OK. Any suggestions? I have already tried SET PALETTE OFF, but this does nothing. The difficulty I am having is finding out how to have the hyper link open and take focus.     - _ShellExecute Error 5? I have one user (XP SP2) of an application that gets a return value of 5 from shellexecute. The program is attempting to run an "FDF" file. The file association appears to be okay. In fact if I click on the selected file it open in Acrobat Reader as expected. The documentation for shellexecute mentions the following: 2 = Bad Association (for example, invalid URL) 29 = Failure to load application 30 = Application is busy 31 = No application association No mention of 5.     - textbox date format I have picked my brain to bits and I can't figure this out. Maybe someone can help me. There is a grid and underneath this grid there is a textbox that is called txtSearch. So users type the word they are searching for and hit Seek. Now when you have ordered the grid by last name the txtSearch is fine. When you click on the Date column, the txtSearch now has / / indicating a date format. When you hit on the Last name column one more time, the / / do not disappear. I can not get it to. Do you know where this formatting is set and why I can't get rid of the two forward slashes? I just want to be able to say something like txtSearch.Clear or something. Thanks in Advance. To let it works in windows you can youse Hyperteminal and set the incomming port to com3. To use it in notepad you have to youse the accessibility from windows and set the serial port to com3. on this way he works like a wedge scanner. the data from the scanner is than in QWERTY but in belgium we all work with AZERTY (this is could be a bug in windows). is it possible to use the scanner in fox using the com3 using MScomm. I have been able to put an HTML form button with an onclick() that navigates (and fires the event), but I want to use submit so the same HTML works in both VFP and in a C++ environment too.     - Problem with SELECT [alias] I have a screen which has a list of calls and actions, listed by the latest date. Each 'call' can be handled alone or I can create an 'action' related to this call. I use 4 tables in a database. 'Calls' which may have a bunch of 'Call_Interventions', and 'Actions' which may also have a bunch of 'Action_Interventions' (both have a SET RELATION). So, from that screen, I click on an action ID and I open another screen which list the details on that action and a list of interventions, if there are any. This works fine. For the call, I have the same process. I click on a call ID and this should open the call details screen with a series of interventions done by the operator. I do a 'SELECT Calls' but the 'select' curiously stays on the 'Actions' database. I placed a bunch of 'SELECT Calls' in the calling screen, in the Init, in the function that refreshes some specific area of the screen, but it stays on 'Actions'. Curiously, the Call data is OK but I have all the call interventions instead of only those related to this call. By looking at the Data Session, I see that both relations are still in effect. Actually, if I click on 'Calls' manually, it works. It works also when I run it in Debug/trace... strange and frustrating. Can you help? (I hope I am clear enough...)     - SQL Update in VFP7.0? I've got two tables, identical structures, and want to update rows in the first from matching but "later" (ie edited later) rows in the second. I'd like to do it "properly", ie with SQL and not just one row at a time. The help vaguely implies that I might be able to do this ("subqueries are supported" it says). I'm trying to do something like : UPDATE FirstTable SET <all the fields using corresponding fields in the second table> WHERE (SELECT * from SecondTable WHERE <id fields match>) which VFP tells me is an illegal use of the subquery.     - - How do I rename print-to-file filename at runtime? I am trying to convert a bunch of different format files (.jpg/.pdf/.doc) to .pcl (print-to-file) in a batch procedure. I've used shellexecute to open the files (with an associated application) and then send them to a printer that is set up to print to a particular file name (myprint.pcl). In particular, The printer is configured to a particular file name local port (c:\print_files\myprint.pcl) so that, if anything is sent to this printer, the output is redirected to this particular file (not the printer itself). The problem with this is that myprint.pcl is overwritten every time a new file is being sent for printing. How can I get this resolved i.e. how can I rename the default file name (myprint.pcl to say my_batch_file_name.pcl) at runtime before printing to it? Ideally, I would be looking for an API that would allow me to control this parameter (read-write) at runtime and, of course, a sample would be highly desirable. According to the help system the solution is to include a line in config.fpw like tmpfiles=d:\temp I have done so, and put the config.fpw in the applicaiton folder - it simply does not work. copy it to the Windows clipboard so the user can then just paste it in a
graphics program like Paint Shop or Photo Shop?
