    - Lines down the page Hello and thanks for the help. In the VFP 7 report writer how do you do the following... Suppose you are doing an invoice or other form with line items and you want line running down the page... How do you get the lines to go all the way down the page? If you put them in the detail line they only appear with the detail lines. How do you get them to go all the way down to the page footer.     - Class not registered error I have a form containing an activex control. The form was created on another system. If I rebuild my application on my current system all works fine however if I edit and save the form on this systemthen attempt to re-edit the form I get an error: OLE error code 0x80040154: Class not registered. OLE object is being ignored. The control is then seemingly stripped from the form. The OCX in question is present on my current system and has been registered via regsvr32. When I attempt to add the activex control via the toolbox OLE control item, the control is listed in the list of available controls but when I select it to add I get the OLE error code 0x80040154: Class not registered error again. What do I need to do to make the control registered so that VFP will allow me to use it.     - Making a form appear docked I have a form which I would like to anchor to the left hand edge of the screen and appear as if it's been docked without the user being able to do any 'docking' functions....i.e. I don't want them to be able to undock it or move it's position. I've managed this by turning the titlebar off, setting the left position and altering the height of the form when the main screen size is resized. All of that works OK and I'm happy with how the form appears on screen. The problem is - because it is not 'really' docked and only appearing to be so, when I minimise forms or maximise a form the left hand edge of the window goes behind my toolbar. I'd like to do one of two things: 1. Ideally dock the form to the left hand edge of the screen and then stop the use moving the window or undocking it....(preferably disabling the title bar) or 2. Know how to resize a form to the internal dimensions of the VFP window taking into account the size of the toolbar. I imagine this should be quite simple for standard forms but what about when I run a report to preview? How can I control the print preview window in the same way?     - Copy File Won't Work Hello - I discovered a problem in both VFP 6 and VFP 9 where copy file fails and I'm not sure how to get around it. It seems to fail when there are spaces before the filename. Suppose you have a file in any directory called test.txt (let's say the c:\junk folder as an example). Try this: 1. Click Start, Run and type CMD and click OK and then type CD\JUNK 2. Type Rename test.txt " test.txt" this puts spaces before the filename which you cannot do from windows explorer but you can do at the command prompt. 3. Go into VFP and from the command prompt type the following: m.lcFile = "c:\junk\test.txt" ? file(m.lcFile) && returns TRUE m.lcFile2 = "c:\junk\test2.txt" copy file (m.lcFile) to (m.lcFile2) && GIVES AN ERROR CANNOT CREATE FILE Most likely no one would have a space or two before a filename but one of my clients did and that is how I discovered this. Is there a way to fix this?     - Domain Name of user Using VFP 9.2 on Windows 2000 or XP workstations. Back end is MS SQL 2000. Some users are on the same domain as the server and so I allow them access with "trusted_user=yes" in the connection string. Others are outside our domain and not in a trusted domain (or any domain) and so I intend to set up SQL Server users and prompt them for userid and password. I'd like to do this with one startup program if possible and so I'm looking for something that will return the domain name. Something on the order of sys(0) which returns the machine name and userid.     - weird select Hi All vfp9 sp1 we have an .scx report form that runs multiple reports by calling a method that; <user choices, error check> <step thru user choices> select ... <where...> ... into cursor result readwrite <some code> <print> <done, cursor report is left open> <end step> the 2nd time thru, the select generates an error, just like the docs say (error 24...alias in use) however, we have other forms that do the same thing with no error !!     - Form Designer at Run Time It seems that in a VFP program I can issue a command like "modify report test" and I can get to the report designer. But, I can't seem to do that with the form designer. It seems like something flashes on the screen but then disappears. So, if I have a VFP program that runs well and has a read events, etc and somewhere in the program I decide to issue a "modify form test" it doesn't seem to work but a "modify report test" will work.     - Single Button Spell Checker My client wants me to add a single button which will spell-check one of the app's reports before printing it (VFP8). He said if it's too much bother ($$$), forget it, but that only makes me more determined <g>. I'm looking for a simple way to output the report in some form which is spell-checkable. Any ideas? I tried REPORT FORM .......... TO FILE <fname> ASCII but the output file's really not in ASCII and I can't open it with his word processor (WordPerfect). Years ago, I wrote macros in WP which merge data from a .dbf, but this particular report conatins a list of items which could be any length, so I'm not sure if I can take that approach. Another approach I thought of might be to output the list to a text file instead of a "REPORT". The problem here, I think, is the font has to be in Arial bold. Not sure how/if I can do that.     - error instantiating application object Okay a small exe written in vfp5 and now running under vista gives this error on startup, you can ignore it and the app runs ok. I remember another exe long ago giving the same error on a network with restricted access to the local drives, is this the same problem, is there anything I can do without recompiling in a later version (I have 8 but its not installed ATM).     - How to digitally sign a VFP Application Hi Group, Recently we installed Microsoft Live Onecare and we find that every time we upgrade our application Live Onecare will prompt for permission to allow the application to send e-mails. The application returns an error 1429 IDispatch code 0 error before you can "allow" the application to send the e-mail. This results in that instance of the send not working. If you allow the send you are able to send e-mails without incident until you do another version upgrade then the cycle begins again. Research on the net indicates that live onecare will prompt for the user to allow an application to send e-mail if the application is not digitally signed. I guess that storing division results in an array would be as accurate as vfp can get ... I mean as opposed as storing them in a cursor. So I'm thinking of a routine that creates a cursor of lookup keys and an array of long division results. The routine would seek the key and return arrayelement[recno()].     - cast and precision I'm doing a series of principal * rate calculations and the rate lookup itself is calculated in a sql statement. When I first wrote the query, vfp showed me a cursor with 4 decimal places in the rates col .. which isn't enough for my users, so I redid the query using cast( <calc> as N(10,6)).     - can't use mail merge with word 2003 in VFP 9, invalid merge fields I am able to merge a FoxPro table with an existing word letter document on computers with older versions of word, but with 2003 (and only when done programatically in FoxPro... a manual mail merge always works), it says that all of the merge fields are invalid / could not be found in the data source. The original author of the code (not me) thinks that word is defaulting to using the address book as a data source and then not finding any of the fields, but neither of us has any idea what would trigger such a thing in only one version of word. And I've got the latest VFP ODBC driver... I thought that it might be something in our code that's causing it, but I used the mail merge wizard in FoxPro and got the same exact errors (only works when manually merging from word so far).     - Two Monitors and ShowWindow and Desktop properties at RunTime? One of my users comments that they want to be able to drag windows from my application to a second monitor on the same computer. Is there any way to easily set these properties at runtime? The only way I can think to do it is to create two copies of the same form where one property is set to true and the other set to false. But, if I do this with multiple forms it really gets into a lot of upkeep. It would be great if there were some way to do this in the Load method at form runtime. I would like to check a table for user preferences to determine how to set one of these properties. One last thing: The main reason I'm thinking that I have to do this is if a computer has two monitors then as far as I know, there is no way to drag a window from one monitor to another since it is confined to the VFP window when the ShowWindow and Desktop properties are set to false. Does any one have a functional dsn file content so I can compare what am I
doing wrong?

the content of my dsn file is

DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}
UID=myUser
STMT=

PASSWORD=myPassword
SERVER=www.myServer.com
DB=myDatabase
DESC=

but is giving me thi error:
Connectivity error: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]No DSN entered

user, password,database and server are well proven so this is not the
problem.
