    - Connecting to a database Hi, We are hosting a webserver for a client, and have a connection to our foxpro software via a dll. If we put the software on the drive that has also the website, it works ok. If we move the software to an external networkdrive, it gives an error that it can't connect to the database.     - Upsizing VFP data to SQL Server I have written a conversion program which uses SQL pass through to update tables on SQL server with VFP data. Everything works fine with my demo data but when I convert real customer data I am frequently getting fatal errors. I've looked at the records these errors are happening on and they all seem to have dates with a year of 2120. When I delete these records in VFP the convert then runs fine Does anyone know why dates with the year 2120 should be causing problems?     - Index does not match the table. Delete the index file and re-create the index (Error 114) Since upgrading to VFP 8.0 with SP1 i am getting this error. The index is not corrupted after i have reverted out of my form. I appears to ocurr after moving the record pointer of a child table in code (even though the record pointer is reset. ) and then issuing tableupdate.     - Cancel in Debugger crashes VFP Hi, To stop the program and to inspect some variables in the Debugger I usually put a Set Step On into the program code. After finish checking and clicking the Cancel button VFP keeps crashing. This behaviour follows me since the debugger has been introduced over a decade ago and through all VFP versions. Due to this behaviour I trained myself to close the Debugger with "Debug - Fix". Recently I forgott it and clicked the Cancel botton and VFP (now version 8) again crashed.     - Find directory of my executable I have an executable that takes a filename parameter, this makes it so I can double click on a file and it starts my program. The problem that I am having is that it starts the program with the default directory being where the file was and not where my executable is. I have looked through the home function and can't get it to show where my executable is.     - Image is not changing for each record in a report The information suggested by Lee Mitchell in his reply to the following post was very helpful in solving my issue with presenting images stored in a general table field into a report Subject: RE: Image Click Code To Transfer A Jpeg Into A General Or Binary Field In A Table 5/19/2004 10:29 AM PST I now have my images stored in a binary memo field (froogle.newpath), and have written the following, simple program function to extract the image into a file called bob.jpg PROCEDURE bertudf(lpFileName, lpMemoBinFld DELETE FILE bob.jp SET SAFETY of STRTOFILE(lpMemoBinFld, "bob.jpg" SET SAFETY o RETURN lpFileName My OLEBOUND report control points to "file" with the following reference bertudf("bob.jpg",froogle.newpath) where "froogle" is the table name and "newpath" is the binary memo field containing the image I know the UDF is being called and is working, because the image in "bob.jpg" is changing when it is opened from Windows Explorer and the status bar shows File Deleted (as called for in the UDF) as I step through the pages when previewing the report. I put that delete file step in to make sure the file is actually changing. All of the data in the report is changing appropriately as each table record is reported, except for the image. Only the image for the first record is displayed, and is repeated for each subsequent record in the report. When I Preview the image inside of the OLEBOUND report control, it displays the first record's image (which is not the latest image displayed in Windows Explorer) What am I missing to get the reported images to match with the other data being reported?     - VFP7 application running as a service Hi all, I've got a VFP application and I'm trying to get it to run as a service on a NT or 200 machine. I've managed to use a utility to register it as a service. When I got the control panel and start the service the application starts as expected. after a short time windows complains that the app hasn't started in a timely fashion Error 1053. Then the App is closed down but it runs ok without error Is there an API Call or something that I need to return to the Service Control Manager to tell it that the app has opened correctly ? I don't really want to use the srvany.exe in the nt res kit as it would mean that my customers would all have to buy it pushing the price of our application up! :o( Is there a solution to this problem?     - AS400 ODBC Connection Fatal Error We are trying to establish a connection to a AS400 database using the client access ODBC driver. When we use the connection string to establish the connection, the SQLSTRINGCONNECT returns successfully, but when we execute a SELECT, SQLEXEC crashes with a fatal exception C0000005 error.     - API calls from VFP and timers Does anyone know if there is a way to define a variable in Foxpro (Vfp 8) and prevent its location in memory from being changed. I have a STRING that is passed by reference to an API function, which then modifies the string. When the API call finishes the string now contains the new information. The problem I am experiencing is that when the timer fires, the memory seems to get shuffled, so the location in memory that the API control is modifiing is no longer my foxpro variable. I do not wish to disable the timers (multiple reasons). Is there a way to define a variables location as static?     - Stretch with overflow in Summary band I have a field in the Summary band and I checked Stretch with overflow, however it won't stretch. I know that it has multiple lines, yet no stretching occurs. It prints a variable, so I changed it to print a value stored in a memo field, but this did not help. A search of the KB shows no bug like this, at least when searching on Stretch with Overflow (there is one similar bug listed, but I'm not doing what it says causes that bug). Anybody seen this?     - Why do views leave open tables behind? Greetings! When I open a view and then look in the Data Session window, I see workspaces for the view and for each table the view uses. When I select the workarea that is using the view and enter the USE command by itself to close the view, the view obediently disappears from the data session window, but the tables remain open. Is there a reason for this, and how can I close the tables associated with a view when I don't need the view any more? Thanks very much!     - Triple Click problem with Citrix Metaframe XP / Win32 ICA Client We have a problem with our Metaframe XP installation. Our users are using the Win32 ICA and we run Visual Foxpro applications. We have found the double clicking does not work in list boxes and other controls and you have to triple click instead. I have found two references to fix this exact problem on the Citrix website - one is a hotfix for Metaframe 1.8 and also Presentation Server for Unix. Some of my forms run, but there's trouble with FoxPro remembering where files (such as Wizstyle.vcx) are. Setting file location options in the Options dialog doesn't work. Currently, I am having problem with the NetWkstaGetInfo function. I need to create a customized data type like the one written below. I wonder if we can do this in VFP?     - cursorfill displaying query inside form! We are changing our forms to use native cursoradapters. Sometimes when the selectcmd contains some outer joins to other tables, the query cursor appears in the topmost form until you press a key at which point it disappears and the form loads perfectly with the correct information. I'm not sure what's causing this. It only seems to happen with some selects and not other similar ones. It doesn't happen if the selectcmd is changed to do a simple select * from tablename.     - Member classes (Grids, Columns & Headers) I'm trying to use the Member class feature of VFP 8 to create classes for 1). Grid class (which uses the Member class feature for mapping Columns) 2). Column class in a PRG (which uses the HeaderClass for mapping Header class) 3). Header class in a PRG (for the Column Class). I've created a Visual class for the Grid, & have set the Member Class & Class Library properties of the grid for the Column class (in the PRG). The contents of the PRG (for the Column & Header classes is as follows) DEFINE CLASS uColumn AS Column HeaderClassLibrary = 'F:\Research\VFP 8\Base Classes\_Grid.FXP' HeaderClass = 'oHeader' ENDDEFINE DEFINE CLASS oHeader AS Header Alignment = 2 FontSize = 8 Caption = "Header" Name = "Header" ENDDEFINE When i drop the Grid class on a form & use it, its all fine, The caption of the Header is Center Aligned. But, if i go & change this Alignment of the Header caption to Left (0) in the PRG, then the changes are NOT reflected in the GRID (form). The changes APPEAR ONLY IF, i change the column count in the Grid (on the form) to a greater value, & run the form. Ie, I HAVE TO REFRESH the GRID to retrive the Column class from the PRG once again, which in turn refreshes its setting for the HEADER CLASS from the HeaderClass & HeaderClassLibrary. Am i doing something wrong here. Cuz, if this is how it works, then I'll have to modify ALL my forms, when ever i make a change to the Header Class in the PRG.     - Return value of ShellExecute() API I'm using ShellExecute() API to print a Word Document, & at times ShellExecute() API returns the value 2. Which means the FILE CANNOT BE FOUND. But this isn't so, the file does indeed exist. The code fragment is as follows, ShellExecute(lnHandle,"Print",lcFile,"","",1) Where lcFile is the FULL PATH & NAME of the FILE. NOTE : The word document doesn't have any Macros. & at times the ShellExecute() function works (ie the word document gets printed out, ONLY at times does this fail). Ie, only on certain occasions does ShellExecute return the value 2 (also the file is the same in all such calls).     - Data will not save I have tried using all methods I can think of, but the data will not save. The code pulls data from a table, runs it through calculations, then resaves it to the table. The data will not re-save to the table; however, if I debug (set step on), it works. I tried slowint the scan down. I tried using begin transaction, end transaction but it still doesn't save. The code is something like the following (too long to include the whole scan). This code is not in a screen nor is it user dependent for any interaction. I tried removing the the buffering and the multilocks. Nothing works. It use to work, then 'out of the blue' it stopped working.     - Beginner to VFP I just took over at a new company that originally used dbase to build some processes/reports and later converted it all into VFP 7.0. However, I noticed in looking at the VFP projects, that no database files were used and therefore, there are no primary keys established and/or relationships defined. In addition, there are no views used in any of the projects since those are only supported when using a database file Being a beginner to VFP and programming (8 years using Access only), can anyone give me some thoughts on why you would use a database file and why you wouldn't?? To me, having primary keys is critical to data integrity so I'm not sure why they weren't used. However, the old manager learned VFP from a book and didn't have a lot of dbase experience so that would explain why. Is using a database file important and/or critical?? Thanks.     - FoxFix 5.2 detecting memo corruption after COPY TO? Hello, We create a .DBC and export preformatted data files to disk just before running reports against them. I just scanned the resulting tables (that were created with the "COPY TO FileName DATABASE DatabaseName" command) and both FoxFix 5 and FoxFix v5.2 detect memo file corruption. Here are some of the results from the error logs: 311 (0x00000137) Memo Next Available Block (NAB) invalid 312 (0x00000138) Memo block size invalid 304 (0x00000130) Memo file truncated by 43 bytes. Probably benign and due to restructuring within FoxPro. Can anyone else confirm this behavior? We're having some weird Crystal Reports issues and were wondering if this could be an issue.     - Spell Check programs by Wintertree Software. Problem with VFP timers. Has anyone used the Sentry spell check program from Wintertree Software? I am experiencing a problem when the timers in my application fire, while doing a spellcheck. When I disable the timers, the spellcheck works perfectly. The calls to the spellcheck program are done using API calls.     - When saving getting Fatal Exception: Exception Code = C0000005 Hi All, I've got a wierd problem when i'm doing a batch save. What I'm doing is trying to import some data files into my application so I'm going down the import files and copying them to live data files & saving them using tableupdate. The files I'm updating are quite big ie they contain over 150 fields. Whats happening is during the update I'm crashing out with the following error: Fatal Exception: Exception Code = C0000005 . However there seems to be no consistency as to when it does this, infact sometimes it does actually go thru the update OK & it never seems to crash in the same place. Hi

I have a form class in a vcx file in wich I have a pageframe. In the pageframe I associate with "member classes" for pages. If I rename the pages created I get a error in the objects placed in the page. Also, if I rename the page when I open the class again, the name is the original one (base on the name of the member class for page). Why is this ?
