    - Grid Alignment I have created a grid using the cursor as source. Grid is not visible when the form is created.But, visible only when the particular option button is selected. When this particular button is selected the control goes to the textbox (not in grid) & on lost focus event of the same I am making the grid visible. Uptill this everthing is fine. But in interactive change method again i am making the grid not visible. Problem starts now. Whenever i change values in the textbox (not in grid) & losing the focus. The complete settings of the grid changes. & original setting at the time of running the form is diturbed & colors as well as format of all the text goes off.     - Memo field in a grid I am displaying a memo field in one of the columns of a grid (the grid is on page 2 of a 2-page page frame), however, I am not using a textbox object, instead I am using an editbox object. two weird behaviors: 1- If I click to edit the record, I can't type into the editbox to add or change words. All the properties settings are correct, things like READONLY is set to off, the column control is set to the editbox and not the textbox and the control source for the editbox is a memo field in my table. Although, I can select words and click into the editbox. 2- If the length of the memo is more than a certain number of characters (I think it is 256 or so), I get a message saying that the field is too long and the grid will not display (it disappears). Anyone has had that kind of behavior? And what is the best way to fix the problem?     - Win XP Pro Colors I am having color issues in Win XP Pro. When on a Win2k box, the color for my command button is bright red/green (255,0,0/0,255,0) depending on whether an expression is valid or not. The problem is that in XP, the colors are pastel and on 2k the colors are the colors they should be. What is causing this and what can I do to correct it?     - Textbox Height in a Grid I am using VFP8 and have a grid with its RowHeight set to 20 and which highlights the selected row. In Column2 I have a Textbox that is that column's CurrentControl. The TextBox's Font is 9pt Verdana. When the TextBox becomes active, the SelectedBackColor of the TextBox does not fill the entire row height in the grid so that part of the grid's selected row highlighting appears above and below the TextBox's SelectedBackColor. However I don't know what version of Adobe Acrobat reader they will have so want if possible to run it by specifying the pdf file itself. I am not confident enough to unearth the required reader exe information from the registry or wherever !!     - How to tell what index tags are actually used Hello all and thank in advance for the help. I have an app that I maintain which I inherited from other coders. There are some tables for which over 50 index tags have been created and I'm certain that not all of them are needed. I can certainly tell which ones are referred to in the code by searching for all of the instances of SET ORDER in the project but that still leaves me with over 30 that may be unnecessary. Is there anything I can turn on that is similar to profiling that will tell me which indexes actually get used? I suppose that I could always remove them one at a time and see if anyone complains that their report or query has gotten really slow but I would prefer a more intelligent approach. I was using the cursors to fetch the master table record one by one and insert into related child table, and i've found that it is very slow.     - Automation Question for WORD I have an application in which I used Automation for WORD. This has been working for years beginning with OFFICE 97 and then OFFICE 2000. I recently received a message from someone who trying a trial version of the application who indicated he received a message that the program would not work with OFFICE 2003. There is nothing exotic about my usage of Automation -- it just opens up an existing WORD document and allows the user to edit and save it. Question: are there any known differences in OFFICE 2003 vs OFFICE 2000 which would require changes in using WORD Automation commands?     - VFP9 report field alignment bug I have a detail band field in a VFP9 report (still running in VFP8 mode, no listeners or anything special) that evaluates to strings like "47/$123.50", "15/$50.00", "0/$0.00", "818/$3,996.00" etc. These strings are all fully trimmed and the report field is set to right justified, yet the those fields in the detail rows do not line up on the report preview - the right edges from one row to the next are misaligned by almost the full width of a zero. Fortunately, they line up much better - but not perfectly - when printed. Is this something I should report as a bug before release? To whom, and how? Maybe it's too difficult, or too late, to fix.     - Mousepointer on a grid This isn't a big deal but I would like to set the mousepointer for a grid. I noticed that it is only settable for the grid and the textboxes in the grid. I changed these to a regular pointer but it doesn't seem to work the way I want it. I want a normal pointer as move across the grid but it always shows the I cursor. Because the grid is there for the user to select a record they want to edit, it makes no sense to me that this should be an I. Also I would like to change the cursor for the grid header but that too does not have a property for the mouse pointer.     - VFP8 Transparent GIFs not displaying transparent! Some of our images on button controls which display fine in VFP7, display with a white background in VFP8. I've used photoshop to make sure the GIFs are transparent and in Windows Explorer they look absolutely fine. I'm not using any Windows XP themes.     - Multiselect Listbox woes I am again kicking myself for trying to use a multiselect listbox due to it's unreliable behavior. Here's my latest discovery: When the user selects, say 4 or 5 items in the list box using Ctrl+Click, then tabs to another control or clicks on another control, then tabs back to the listbox, all of the previously selected items are cleared. Huh!? How could this possibly be the desired behavior of this control? This happens in both VFP6 SP5 and VFP8 SP1. Haven't tried it in the VFP9 beta yet. Is the only way around this loss of user input to keep a separate array of the selected items, then when the control gets focus to re-select them? Intellisense pops up by using: -capslock and the . key (. is the uppercase char of the key in azerty) -the . key of the numpad Intellisense DOESN'T popup when i use: -SHIFT and the . key (remember it's the uppercase char i need) I tried using numeral key remappers and macro players, but they don't seem to have a solution for me to use the shift-. combo VFP is the only development environment I have had this problem with.     - PageFrame Bug When you add a pageframe without tabs to a container class ... Height is allowed to be less than 30, but when the class is saved and then reopened, you will get an error saying that the height is too small. You must then hack the VCX and correct the height in order to open the class in the designer. First, this is a bug. The height should not be checked when tabs are off. Second, I really hate it when I get an error like this, and then that's it. VFP doesn't try to open the VCX. It leaves you hanging, with no choice but to hack the changes. Error log file: C:\Program Files\microsoft visual foxpro 8\vfp8err.log Called from - build line 191 {e:\vssshadow806\jab\develop\build.prg e:\vssshadow806\jab\develop\build.fxp} Called from - vbuild line 100 {e:\vssshadow806\vip\develop\vbuild.prg e:\vssshadow806\vip\develop\vbuild.fxp} ***** actual line of code that causing the error is BUILD PROJECT (lcProjName) &lcCompile FROM (FULLPATH ('main.prg')) when i opened .err file i see compiling e:\vssshadow806\vip\tx\tx.mpr I thought there's problem in the menu so i opened it manually and did generate menu which was fine. I tried rebuild again but same error.so this time i excluded menu from project and now .err file contains something like compiling e:\vssshadow806\vip\console\getwaiting.prg I even excluded that prg from project but getting different file name in .err file. so i realized the error in .err file is misleading. is there anyway to trace what causing the fatal error !!     - Help debugging FP COM Server... Hi, I've have a FoxPro (FP) project that generates a COM Server which I can build/compile with debug information and register (using /regserver). Now I would like to startup another executable (in my case a C++ program which uses the FP COM Server type library) which calls routines in the FP code. Hi,
You can use DBF() to get access to the temp cursor's physical file.
Append From Dbf('tempCursor')
