Well, I suspect the meeting was in Redmond. The MVP Summit, though, splits
its time between there and Seattle. (Washington State Convention Center is
just about the only facility big enough to hold all attendees all at once.)

Is Microsoft actually paying a "Fox Team" to provide some Visual FoxPro
support or is this a volunteer "Fox Team"? Any idea who is still on the team
and how long the team will remain on the payroll?

No, there won't be an SP3.

The Summit was in both Seattle and Redmond. The meeting where fixes were
announced was actually held in Redmond.

There is no "Fox Team". The people making the patches are doing it either on
their own time or with the permission of their current boss. Alan Griver,
Richard Stanton, Calvin Hsia, Milind, and Aleksy, who made up the bulk of
the Fox Team for VFP 9.0 are still working for Microsoft, but have dispersed
to different teams.

what a shame. Microsoft should make the code for all VFP open source.
This is the very reason I use OpenOffice now for all my word processing and
spreadsheets work. I encourage others to get on the wagon with the free
stuff!

So, you're telling me that if you have a problem with OpenOffice that you'll
go in and fix it?

The VFP core is written in C++. Very few Fox developers could go in and fix
anything there. Additionally, there is lots of Microsoft intellectual
property in the code. Microsoft has stated many times that it will not
release the C++ code.

Who knows?, a few days ago, MS released a new hotfix for VFP:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948528/en-us

Among other things, it says:
>>
[...]
Article ID : 948528
Last Review : April 30, 2008
Revision : 1.0
[...]
Hotfix information
[...]
Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait
for the next Visual FoxPro 9.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
