Hi, All!

I'm new to this networking thing.
Bought a couple books, but still don't understand some things.
Trying to set up an admin email account on server.
Went to a working workstation to see what the mail servers are and
outlook 2003 points to the exchange server.
Yet, at the exchange server, none of the mail protocols is activated.
???????
How can that be?
How do I figure out what the mail servers are?

Thanks, in advance for all your help.

B

What version of Exchange? Where are you checking on the Server for "mail
protocols"?

Boy, it's a good thing that I take good notes!
:)

We're running Exchange server 2003 Sp2
Found the protocols in the Exchange System Manager.
Not sure exactly where. I'm looking at the book that I got
(administrator's pocket consultant)
and one place it's found, in the tree on the left of the Ex Sys Man,
is
AdministrativeGroups/FirstAdminGroup/Servers/Mailer1/Protocols.

Not sure how exactly that represents the one at work since I'm at home
now, but...

Does that answer your questions satisfactorily?

Thanks
B

Its not listed there.

Now that's interesting. I had another guy tell me that the other day.
I thought he misspelled IMAP!
Ha!
What a dolt I am!

Where do I go to configure that?
How do I tell what the mail servers are?
Is that found anywhere on the exchange server or the general network
server
2003?

Thanks a bunch!

Will there likely be an app on the server where I can configure
MAPI or is that done in each individual version of Outlook on the
workstations?

tks.
