Is there anyway I can configure Exchange to only attempt the delivery of an
NDR one time and then delete the message? I want this to apply to just NDRs
and not normal messages that get delayed or having trouble delivering on the
first shot.

Thanks,

Dave

Not that I know of.
Write your own transport sink perhaps.

Are you using recipient filtering?

If so, then the only NDRs you should be generating are for mailboxes
over their limits and things like that.

No I don't have an edge server. I think I worked around the problem by
adjusting our existing SPAM filter. We plan on getting a Symantec Mail
Security Appliance. I know the Brightmail product checks with AD to make
sure the email account exists. I hope this product does the same thing.

Make sure it rejects the connection with a 550 response so that
external senders are informed by their MTA that the address is
invalid.
